The thing that I love about Nouvelle Vague covers is how they make my imagination go wild. I always dream up some scene when I listen to their songs. I love them.
For me, the original is living in the moment with regards the lyrical content. This cover is looking back on life and reminiscing about how it used to be. I'm a massive fan of the original and I think this cover does it enormous justice.
How can it possibly not be a cover version of The Specials song written by Terry Hall about his experiences of a night out in Coventry, England in the 1970's. They lyrics are exactly the same!
Friday Night, Saturday Morning (lyrics) Out of bed at eight AM Out my head by half past ten Out with mates and dates and friends That's what I do at weekendsI can't talk and I can't walk But I know where I'm going to go I'm going watch my money go At the LocarnoWhen my feet go through the door I know what my right arm is for Buy a drink and pull a chair Up to the edge of the dance floorBouncers bouncing through the night Trying to stop or start a fight I sit and watch the flashing lights Moving legs in footless tightsI go out on Friday night And I come home on Saturday morning I go out on Friday night And I come home on Saturday morningI like to venture into town I like to get a few drinks down The floor gets packed the bar gets full I don't like life when things get dullThe hen party have saved the night And freed themselves from drunken stags Having fun and dancing In a circle round their leather bagsI go out on Friday night And I come home on Saturday morning I go out on Friday night And I come home on Saturday morningBut two o'clock has come again It's time to leave this paradise Hope the chip shop isn't closed Cos' their pies are really niceI'll eat in the taxi queue Standing in someone else's spew Wish I had lipstick on my shirt Instead of piss stains on my shoesI go out on Friday night And I come home on Saturday morning I go out on Friday night And I come home on Saturday morningI go out on Friday night And I come home on Saturday morning I go out on Friday night And I come home on Saturday morning Read more: Nouvelle Vague - Friday Night, Saturday Morning Lyrics | MetroLyrics
This song is perfect when you're waking up after party, smoking a cigarette and watching the street while all your friends are sleeping.. Just imagine..
b side to the masterpiece that is Ghost town, but this song has a charm of its own. This cover doesn,t do much for me though, its that familiar trap of lesser artists thinking if they slow it down and add acoustic guitar it represents an expressive take. You and i know its boring.
Nah , I cant be bothered with this. Its just cofee table shit. Very very clever idea though , New wave with nostalgic 60's type Parisian Chique. Its made them rich. The Trouble is it gets dull after the initial novelty.

I heard this song when I was 9 and now I'm 13 and ever since then I remembered this whole song and I finally found it.
Love them both..original was cracking and on the numbers ...this cover shows another poetic beauty in the lyric.

I go out on friday night and I come home on saturday morning... :) Love it!
I always feel like the original songs for the moment but the cover is gentle the day after when you're hungover
They are INTERPRETING songs and making them sound like Nouvelle Vague and not trying to make a perfect copy. They put this special NV thing in them.
Friday Night, Saturday Morning (lyrics)
Out of bed at eight AM
Out my head by half past ten
Out with mates and dates and friends
That's what I do at weekendsI can't talk and I can't walk
But I know where I'm going to go
I'm going watch my money go
At the LocarnoWhen my feet go through the door
I know what my right arm is for
Buy a drink and pull a chair
Up to the edge of the dance floorBouncers bouncing through the night
Trying to stop or start a fight
I sit and watch the flashing lights
Moving legs in footless tightsI go out on Friday night
And I come home on Saturday morning
I go out on Friday night
And I come home on Saturday morningI like to venture into town
I like to get a few drinks down
The floor gets packed the bar gets full
I don't like life when things get dullThe hen party have saved the night
And freed themselves from drunken stags
Having fun and dancing
In a circle round their leather bagsI go out on Friday night
And I come home on Saturday morning
I go out on Friday night
And I come home on Saturday morningBut two o'clock has come again
It's time to leave this paradise
Hope the chip shop isn't closed
Cos' their pies are really niceI'll eat in the taxi queue
Standing in someone else's spew
Wish I had lipstick on my shirt
Instead of piss stains on my shoesI go out on Friday night
And I come home on Saturday morning
I go out on Friday night
And I come home on Saturday morningI go out on Friday night
And I come home on Saturday morning
I go out on Friday night
And I come home on Saturday morning

nouvelle vague does amazing covers.
This is what a cover ought to do.

how the hell does this have more hits than the original
Someone knows where I can find the video of " in to manner of speaking " of nouvelle vague, but the original version
piosenka dla Olgi!! ;) koleżanki
I actually really like this. Her voice is like a kitten. I want to stroke her face.
@Chrisfromlehigh I'd say the best covers sound can't sound just like the original, otherwise it's just a recital.
sad traveling song
better at 1.5x
youtube said before it had no dislikes... Weird. Must've been stoned
It's good but not completely correct wordwise like,It's SPEW!XOX

Not bad at all, but Specials is still better.
I didn't like this one at first.....
