  • Sport specific training is an extremely overused term which leads to a lot of ineffective training programs or exercises designed to mimic the look of sporting movements. We've seen this to be a poor strategy to improve performance, and instead, a gimmick used by uneducated coaches to trick people into thinking their training methods will improve the sporting demands.
However, there are some principles of specificity that can AND SHOULD be applied to your skills training. This is the best time to understand how specificity works and how to prepare your body and mind for the best possible performance in competition. When used properly, this can create an optimial transfer of training from the gym to the cage on fight night. If you are not applying these principles of specificity to your training and you are just showing up and training hard every day, you are leaving a ton of potential gains on the table.
