  • Hey everyone, Kevin here. I figured I’d start a RUclips channel that felt a little more personable as I brought you all along on my adventures. Florida can be a tough state to camp in. I usually camp twice a week from November until March with friends. I still camp through the summer, just not as frequently as other adventures seem to take up the long summer days. I work rotating 12 hour shifts that allow me to have off 14+ days a month. Combine that with my sense of adventure and I'm able to see what the states really have to offer. So please, go ahead, subscribe and follow along for some fun outdoor adventures!

    Is there a way you can give some coordinates to this camp spot? I’ve camped in ocala like 10 times on the camp grounds and I can never find the dispersed camp spots where I can camp next to my truck. Thanks for the video brotha keep enjoying the outdoors!

      Sorry, I don’t give out coordinates. Just drive around, explore and find a good spot. Just look at google earth. It’s not hard to find.

    Hey Kevin I watched your chain of lakes videos was wondering if you could recommend a good spot to stay overnight at a hotel close to a boat ramp

      Lake Roy Beach Inn Winter Haven. That hotel is on the water and has boat docks. Close to a ramp too!

    I was wanting to go out to Ocala yesterday, I live in Jacksonville but don't mind the drive since I love all the trails around there. I never camped at Hopkins Prairie but have been there a few times to just hang out in my hammock. One thing I've always been told to avoid bears wanting to come into camp is to not eat at your campsite no matter how nice it is to have camp fully set up and you just sitting there eating a nice meal lol I don't have the luxury of a roof top tent as of yet so on the ground I am in a tent so bears probably spook me out a little bit more. Nice video!!

      Ron and I have hammock camped out there dozens of times and never saw a bear. Even with cooking next to where camp. Not smart, but we are stubborn.

    Hello Kevin, just wanted to say I enjoy all your videos buddy, I have been Hunting and camping in the Hopkins prairie area for many years, just wanted to give you an idea ( maybe stupid idea lol) I know you drive a lot in the woods and see a bunch of wildlife and many times can’t catch it on video, I purchased a “dash cam” and now I don’t miss anything walking or running in front of my truck, maybe that’s a possibility you can use, I have video of a Florida panther that walked in front of my truck ( I’m glad I had the dash cam or I would not have been fast enough to use my phone or no one would have believed me lol, as a matter of fact it was on county road 33 in the same area you camp, just wanted to throw out the idea, anyway thanks for the videos, Dave ( who knows maybe I will see you out there sometime)

      Thanks for the tip. I’ve tossed the idea around and maybe it’s time to bite the bullet and hard mount a dash cam. Thanks for watching! I’ve been within 10ft of a panther along the Hillsborough River State Park.

    No burn ban in your part of the state...my part of the state is in a serious drought we finally had a little bit of rain the past 2 days

    You mentioned that you don't have cell service, where your camping. Do you use a weather radio to keep up with the storms? If so which one?

    • @OverlandFlorida
      @OverlandFlorida  Год назад +2

      I have a Baofeng radio that has weather. I do have cell service to receive and send texts to get notifications. But I don’t always have enough service to load radar maps.
