@@SimonSmithGuitar Loving it. I like having that option of switching from my usual VST drum kits to very deliberate lo-fi quickly and easily. Saves a lot of time . Thanks again for the heads up.
You went WAAAYY over the top with that humanize option. Lowering that by 90% would make for a much more accurate representation of what any drummer would play like, regardless of skill level.
Could you do a tutorial on Destroyer 666's - Damnation's Pride, can't find any tab for the song on the internet, would be really grateful if you could do it, Hails !
Nice drum track, thank you Simon, just curious why you make one track for each drum hit, snare, kick, tom, so on? I see some people make only one track and do the whole drum track in one single track
this is a very useful and sophisticated little software,- for sure...but isn´t it quite complicated to "write" those kinds of drum patterns...for example, for someone who doesn´t know all too much about drumming...and BM Drumming in particular...!?
You should hit a dumpster with a stick and record it on your cassette player. This is how you do raw black metal drums. Post-processing is optional, but you can give it some distortion ofc.
What daw do you use mate? I personally use reaper. Press insert-virtual instrument and it should pop up. If not try to refresh your vst's.🙂 hope it helped.
We don't have the intelligent song composer/find a beat tool in ours but other than that KVLT Drums works a very similar way. If you're using Reaper you can preview each beat in the Media Explorer window and then drag the beats into the project. -Ron
No worries :) www.itmightgetloud.org/product/kvlt-drums-midi-pack-bundle/ we have a MIDI + KVLT Drums bundle which covers all your Black Metal virtual drumming needs :)
@Sergio You realize fenriz is the DRUMMER for darkthrone right? And what are you on about. Drum machines have been despised by black metal fans for decades
I use a cardboard box for that raw Kvlt sound!
I heard that's what Darkthrone used on their early bm albums
For BM you just need some drum kit for kids, like hello kitty shit or something and record that on your phone or headset and you are set
Thank you man, your videos have been so much helpful to me for the past months !
I just bought this program for my next Doom Poodle nihilistic blackish metal project. Thanks for this informative and encouraging video.
wow kvlt drums actually seems pretty legit
Great job and very helpful, thanks. Bought KVLT Drums & Essential Black Metal MIDI after watching this.
Cool man. Do you like it?

Damn, you're super, man!!!! Hail to you and black metal too!!! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks Simon! Kickass stuff!
My pleasure my friend!!

That’s awesome. Would love to collaborate with you on a very cool project.
Simon, make please lesson on Exiled From Light/Ossadogva song!
This is very useful staff. Thank you! ImI
No problem my friend
Awesome!
Cheers mate. How's you?
I'm all good man, loving the reaction to our album so far! My band is doing well too, so all is good! Hope you're well!
KVLT samples were recorded in a Finnish sauna, lol
they sure were! if you listen carefully you can hear mosquitoes in the back :)
Hahaha, that has to be the greatest RUclips comment ever lol. What happens in the sauna, stays in the sauna ;) haha
Not if you sample it and sell it as a drum kit!
got me there dude
My favourite parts of the samples!

Sounds pretty good and not too programmed, which is good!
That's what I liked about them too. Should work on Reaper
Sweet. Any chance you could do a lesson of Weakling's "Cut Their Grain and Place Fire Therein", or anything off that amazing album really?
Will add to the list for you!
This Entire Fucking Battlefield.
Please can you do a tutorial on black magic by the amazons please
this is great, though it would be extremely overwhelming at first lol
So Logic Pro?
I was looking for an actual drum video but I'm also a techno dj that is seeking producing so...
Nice drum track, thank you Simon, just curious why you make one track for each drum hit, snare, kick, tom, so on? I see some people make only one track and do the whole drum track in one single track
It's most likely to eq each drum sound
What DAW are you using? I normally use PRO TOOLS but the KVLT DRUMS people told me that they don't support protools.
Logic Pro X

Some of those riffs remind me of old mutiilation
Does anyone know if it works with Mixcraft or Reaper? Cheers!
Works fine with reaper
So, Simon, let's do Katatonia My twin or Lethean!
Will add to the list for you!
i paid for it and I can't figure out how to open it

Black Metal Essentials MIDI Groove pack out now! www.itmightgetloud.org/product/black-metal-essentials-midi-pack/?wpam_id=14

I suppose that's how it'd work in Cubase yeah. My latest Cubase experience goes back to SX 3 (a little outdated haha) so I can't say for sure -Ron

Everyone knows the best mic placement is 1 inch from and slightly off center of the orange sign....
The best way was explained by zimorog. Write stuff from ezdrummer 2, record that shit with your phone and fix that shit.
Closed hihat? Seriously?
Im sorry but it sounds really bad. And kind of defeats the vibe of black metal. The drum sound is so important ironically
