  • Notes:
    1. The mix you hear was not mastered
    2. I am not a professional, i showed you how i do my black metal guitars and the tone i think is "standard" for black metal (not raw/not produced too good)
    3. The mix could be better if i added some compression and gate but i wanted to show you the most basic/raw sound
    4. Play with your sound. Have fun and record some evil Black Metal!

      It's way too derivative for my taste. Although Satanic Warmaster has a riff off of the exact same album that is far too derivative of a mayhem song so eh whatever haha

    I Run two kempers (at once with 2 stereo cabs) What took that sound to new levels of creativity and injected something original in the black metal was 2 harmony pedals in the signal chain FROM A free KEMPER PACK CALLED PITCH BLACK. He runs 2 down tubed pedals so they harmonize with each other when you play standard black metal chords. One song can turn into 300 different harmonies. LOOK FOR PITCH BLACK if you own a kemper. To me, this is the new black metal sound, well one that is expanded.

    Ok but pre computer shit, how was the sound made?

    • @skator8423
      @skator8423 3 года назад +2

      High gain, cheap pedals, and a cheap amp.
      Reverb on vocals, not a stupid amount but have fun with it.
      Bass is a complicated one because it depends what you want but you can throw some distortion on it or leave it just high gain. Mix it how you please as long as it does not take over the mix.
      Then as far as the recording its up to you for what you are trying to do. For a more raw sound use minimal microphones and use entry level stuff (if you want a even more raw or "demo" sound do the ol' tape deck recorder trick. Just be sure not to mess up too bad or you will of wasted a tape). If you want a more high quality sound like dissection I would go to a studio and use cheap professional quality equipment, not over the top but nice.

  • @Makulax

    So basically you just ditch the cabinet emulation and put a lo fi eq on the drums.

    В начале 90-х норвежцы получали этот звук просто выкручивая gain на комбиках, но в 2023 для этого тебе понадобится закончить академию по программированию, купить ноутбук, звуковую карту и бог знает чего еще.

  • @shayukilol8887
    @shayukilol8887 3 года назад +1

    That sounds absolutely awful. What you're doing with the guitar is fully removing the mids, carving some giant hole around 1k as if you were Dimebag Darrelll. You don't even have any lower mids in there. What "standard" black metal does this sound like? Not like Filosofem, not like Transilvanian Hunger, not like De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas. It just sounds like trash. You have a giant amount of upper mids, but then you don't have any treble so it just hurts the ears.

    • @morbidcorpse5954

      Black metal is about individuality and not trying to 'sound' like anyone else.

    • @cpsbBXCX

      it's supposed to sound like trash? that's what makes it black metal
