Would that part cause the car to build up pressure in the tank when doing hard turns or hard stops? I get error code that says evap emission system has small leak.

Ford was trying to charge me $200 for diagnostic, $200 for parts, and $200 for labor for popping a P144C which is Canister Purge Control Valve, yeah I'm gonna tackle this one on my own. I appreciate you man you stopped me from getting scammed. Money's tight for me I don't make a lot being in the military so I appreciate you doing what you can to help people who don't know a lot about cars. My 2016 Focus ST will be back on the road soon!
Thanks man. It fixed my issue and took me 5 minutes to install with just a screw driver to loosen the safety clips. Went and filled up and drove from Houston to Minneapolis (1200 miles) no more stalling after fill ups and rough idle

Great explanation of the disconnect mechanisms. Even though the new part ships with a new metal bracket, I found once the hose portion was disconnected, I could just slide the old rubber and hose assembly off and slide the new rubber and hose assembly on. No replacement of the bracket necessary (though you might want to anyway for appearance sake)

Outstanding video. Thank you. I suspect this is my problem. After I fill up the gas tank, my idle RPM's stumble from 800 down to 600. It hasn't stalled or put up a code yet and seems to recover after I drive for a few miles. I order the item and replace it. Thanks again.

The failed purge valve ruined the catalytic converter in my car. Thank goodness for the Ford ESP I bought.
The fact that Ford Canada refused to pay out a catalytic converter for another customer with a purge valve failure is shocking. My Focus used to backfire going down hills.
I will never buy another Ford.

yal100 is this real? My light comes on and after 3 or so starts and at 15 mins of driving it goes off again.
Its real. They say they are sending out recall notices later in november and december. Don't call your dealer, best bet is to call Ford corporate 1 (800) 392-3673 and have your VIN number ready.
Got my recall notice today. I've been complaining about it making noise for over a year and they claimed they couldn't replace it under my extended Ford warranty unless the code came up. Well they're going to replace it now!
Awesome. Glad the notice finally came for you. I cant believe its taken Ford 6 years to recall this clearly major problem. Every mechanic knows about this problem. Way to keep those customers coming in the future Ford, unbelievable!

this part really dont have anything to do with that .. you might have a fuel level sensor issue
I have a 2016 Ford Edge Sport 2.7L and the CEL just came on today...P144A. I am reading mixed reviews online and just came across your video. Should I bank on the light going off by replacing my purge valve or could it be something else? No problems with idling, startup, stalls, etc.. Runs great except that the CEL is on.
should never bank on just replacing this part ..I would do a leak test before anything ... is this most likely the issue yes .. but I would say make some test first
Hello, my 2016 focus just had this code come up. Thanks for the video very helpful. I replaced the solenoid so If I don’t have an odb how do I reset the engine light or how soon after will it turn off by itself. Thanks for any reply
you can disconnect the bateery for a couple of minutes .. that should reset the computer

Hey Falcon I saw that there is an electrical connector that plugs into purge valve in the middle of it. Is it possible for that to go bad and be the reason for code P0443 on a 2012 Focus? Wondering if I need to test that or just go ahead and buy the Evap Purge Valve to fix P0443. Thanks for the informative video!
Could it be a bad connector? ... yes I’ve seen it happen plenty of times to ford/chevy connectors. But never seen it on this sensor. But it is a possibility.
@@FalconsGarage Just checked out the car today and turns out the connector's wire somehow got completely cut near the connector. Hopefully that's the only reason it isn't working lol

I’m not having any problems with my engine other than a check engine turning on. Took it to a mechanic and he said it was the evap valve. Will this affect my smog check?

darthjohn0 it all depends of where the purge solenoid is on that car. I can’t remember where is at on that mustang but on older fords they usually have it by the firewall.
You should be able to do it yourself. I am mechanically inclined and try to do as much as I can by myself. I save a lot of money that way. Plus you can find directions here on RUclips

I have a 2016 mustang ecoboost, 2.3 L 4 cylinder, I recently got the code P144A as well as several others like P1450. Do you think replacing the evap valve would fix my codes as well? Or at least a good place to start?

it should turn off AFTER driving the car for about 60-100 miles ... so its best to clear the code with as canner

I took my 2013 Focus Manual Trans to the dealership to perform recall 18S32. They replaced this part and re-flashed my PCM, and now I'm getting code P2227. Wondering if the part they put on just happened to be faulty or if I have a bad MAP sensor. Trying to figure it out without having the dealer replace my PCM for $1000.
well they would need to test it out .. they should not just replace it with out testing

What made you replace it? What were your fuel trims before and after replacement. Did the code come back?
The check engine light code. That’s why I replaced it. This is a very common issue with this cars it even has a recall on it.

Would a faulty purge valve cause the engine to idle high. When it idles high and I put it in neutral it idles back to normal. I ordered a purge valve and it's on its way. I hope it solves my problem!! Thanks for the video
it could be because it might suck in too much air into the intake, are you getting anymore codes besides that one?

Mike Manley I changed my purge valve and it solved every code I had. It was reading emissions code and that went away too. Much appreciated Falcon!!

there was a recall on this issued on 10/22/18... Call your local dealer and see if your car applies
My engine light JUST turned on as I was driving home, as I accelerated, the car would go faster then it would pause and brake a little on its own, making the car go slow then fast. Would replacing this part from your video fix my car you think?

Yes mine does the same thing when I stop to get fuel and fill my tank the car seems like it doesn't want to to start or start and stalls immeaditlly. Then it restarts and idles roughly. This only happens when I stop to fill my tank.

Ok I'm having issues with my 2017 focus se ... it started out with a code and they told me to replace the 02 sensor and also it runs out of gas at 1/2 a tank ... I filled it up and noticed it stayed full for atleast 3 days before the gas gauge started to drop. I dont recall what code it was either, but the purge valve .. would it make this type of issue happen.
Nope. Sounds like you have a bad fuel level sensor ...

One question, i have a ford focus titanium, and have this code, my remote start not working. Changing this part may solve the problem?
on this focus the remote start wont work if it senses something wrong with the car .. like Check engine light or something like that ... so fix the light first and go from there

That's this same valve. It cycles on and off with that noise. Fixed some issues I had with the idle and fueling according to my scan tool.

I received my part I replaced it I took off the check engine light with my scanner and it's still showing that I'm getting poor fuel economy is there any reset I have to do for the fuel display? Thank you in advance
No. Those are your driving habits. You need to drive it more and balance out the averages. You can always reset your fuel economy gage.

@@studiou6816 You can disconnect the battery, that's the fastest way. You will lose any radio pre-sets and trip mileage.
Had my engine light come up the other day and got the code scanned and came up as P144A, (2015 Focus w/1.0L manual) think this would fix the code? I don’t notice much difference in driving.

I have the 1.0L EB manual focus also. I haven't noticed a issue with the run quality with this code. Think I can clean and replace and the code will go away?
These cars suck so much and my local dealerships have refused to do the warranty work, and Ford said they don't have to.

I would check into fuel pressures ...I don't think this sensor is your issue .. but there is more testing that needs to be done,
@@FalconsGarage I checked them already, they are within manufacturer specs. I have new HP pump (on old one was the same) and I suspect the low pressure fuel pump in tank

Cristian Deltoro with my 2016 I actually didn’t end up changing any parts. I was going to but then I had to accelerate fast to get past a jerk who sped up after I went to pass him and the next day the code was gone. I hadn’t had any mpg degradation before that either
anyone know what that 3/8 tube is. mine snapped while changing out evap. it seems like a vent tube it's on the same clip as the line that goes from the air intake to the back of the engine near fire wall.
It's the tranny vent tube. Not connected to anything
2016 focus 2.0 ltr- have you ever seen where the engine shuts down on the road while driving? I will replace this purge valve again.
It shuts down and I can pull over and let it sit for a few minutes and it restarts no problems and runs fine after.
to me that sounds like a fuel pump going bad

I watched a video of this guy removing the battery on his focus he disconnected the c90 cable in his fuse box when I did the same thing my focus will now not start or crank or anything is there something I can do without replacing the computer or having my focus towed to the dealership???
well you need to check WHY is not turning on, fuel, spark , key got erased .. could be many things
I have a focus 2014 se, it doesn't have a code, but when I accelerate after stopping, after driving for a while, the car starts jerking on the initial acceleration only, and then drives normally... although it feels a little weak for a 2000 cc. could this be the problem?
I took it to Ford for the recall notice and they told me that since the fuel tank isn't deformed, there's nothing wrong with it.

My ford has the same issue. I first took it in to the Ford Dealership when I began the lease, and they "Fixed" that issue (the problem started again a few weeks after). It was supposedly something with the transmission. I'm hoping it gets resolved after taking it in for this.

Cirzy it won’t I’ve had my focus 2013 se for 5 years and it still shakes all the ford dealers just tell me that’s how the car is. I’ve taken it to get all the recalls and still nothing.
I got this code but autozone is saying it's the evap canister vent soleniod? so which is it?
In my experience is this valve... with out having somebody test them both .. that would be my best guess
hi i have a 2012 focus with the 1.6 ti-vct engine and manual, the car intermittently has a misfire/pop out of the intake between 1000-2000rpm when you apply 30% or more throttle, i have had the injectors flow tested, fuel pressure is 4bar, new spark plugs, new coil, no CEL, no codes on OBD scanner
not sure what kind of scanner you are using .. but you might need a scanner with a scope or a scanner that can measure small misfire .. sometimes a small misfire wont be cause the CEL to come on but if the scanner has a misfire counter .. it will show there ..

Where is the vacuum monitored, that decides that this evap line has a problem?
I bought a vent solenoid, but I couldn't access the one by the gas tank, so I removed the engine-side line with the clips on each end. Didn't see anything obvious, so I put it all back together.
Now the engine light has cleared! What the heck did I do? And I thought the code would only clear if you hooked up the scanner.
the fuel tank pressure sensor ..but you are talking about a diferent sensor .. is that the code you had?

@@FalconsGarage Like it sounds like it's trying to turn on and it'll take a few tries to turn on. It's the sound when it first turns on but it extends, not sure if I explained that well

Did the same code come back up? Did you do a smoke test before replacing it? If not I would recommend doing one now. Also check the connector to that valve

@@FalconsGarageit is really weird. The piece started clicking rapidly and the check engine light came on. The check engine light didnt turn on today and it was no longer clicking. I could feel the vibration in the cylinder piece each time it clicked. I've only known of it being stuck open or closed but it felt like it was rapidly opening and closing like it was trying to reset but was stuck in a loop
We got the same error code then days later our car dies on us due to something with fuel getting to the engine. Could this be the problem and would replacing it maybe fix the problem
