Funnily enough, crochet was also my gateway, and I also prefer the knit fabric, currently at any rate. However, I knit for the process, and I crochet for the end product, which is opposite of you 😂 Thank you for the Christmas upload and the thoroughness of your testing
The project bag seems the most useful but that scarf would be pretty in the yarn!

6:45 it’s nice that the stitch markers are metal! I’ve had cheap plastic ones and cheap metal ones, and the metal ones are much sturdier (though not very sturdy on the whole… as I mentioned, they were also cheap 😅). These look like they’ll hold up pretty well

If I was to make something from that last box it would be the project bag because I am currently making a cardigan and I don’t have anything cute to put it in while taking it everywhere. I would love a bag I made to hold new things I am making.

I would make the apron and give it some pockets for snacks/stitch markers, scissors etc.
Just had a better idea,….pockets in the apron for heating pads or hot water bottles. Not more freezing in the studio. I have a dressing gown with enormous pockets. Guess what goes in those!

Thanks for the Christmas Day video, watched on Boxing Day here in Australia. I’d suggest either the scarf or the bad for the other kit. It seems a travesty to make it into an apron, unless it only worn for decorative purposes. I need my aprons to be protective and take a vigorous washing when needed. 😊

This knitter CAN have enough/too many stitch markers. Bought set of 600 pear shaped markers around 5 years ago, and keep some near me, organized with scissors and darning needles with a magnet. I never lose them, and have hundreds left in the box. I think the frivolous dangling “ yarn earrings” a silly waste….

Crochet was also my gateway craft. I knit mostly now because I love the fabric, but also because crochet tends to cause pain in my wrists. Which is sad because I do enjoy a good amigurumi. I'd love to see you make either the project bag, or the scarf. Merry Christmas!

This is really nice! I love that you actually went through with making the projects instead of just showing the contents of the boxes... like some other videos reviewing merely the box content :/ I was looking for a video where someone actually made them and wow it turned out beautiful! I'm considering buying them but I have to see if there are any other subscription boxes like hooks and needles that are also worth a fair shot! Oh, you're the first European creator I've seen sponsored by them! I'm curious, where were yours sent from? I'm interested but I don't want Italian yarn sent from USA for my french ass, the planet is burning enough XD
Surprisingly, a lot of people have pointed out that they in fact don't even send to the EU. So I'm a little bit confused as to why they approached a European content creator in the first place. (They do send the boxes from the US)

I think the concept is a great one for someone who is starting out with knitting or crochet.
For me, perhaps not so much. Being a yarn snob I’d rather not receive any yarn containing polyamide or similar. I’ve become extremely picky ever since I found out about microplastics and don’t even want superwash yarns. But that’s ME. I won’t ever give anyone side eye for happily using synthetic fibres in their fibre arts.
The projects look cute. From that last box, I might consider the apron as a spinning apron, although I might want to line it with fabric somehow. Or I’d make the scarf.

Maybe you can compare the two and tell your preference em terms of content price? I love that little triangle scarf, and from the last box I would also make the scarf it looks very interesting. I'm not keen on the apron, it doesn't look like a _useful_ apron so I'm with the people who think a project bag would be a good idea. The scarf isn't doing it for me because it has a definite right side and wrong side and I prefer the idea of scarves where you don't have to worry about how you wrap them.
Yeah, I also wouldn't necessarily want to use rainbow yarn for cables, you know, you want either the rainbow yarn or the cables to shine... but that's a personal opinion
I keep my darning needles in an empty pill bottle 😅
I’d probably end up knitting the scarf. I’ve never seen a knitted apron. The picture looks cute but I’m not really into things that don’t have a practical use.

The subscription boxes are an interesting concept. Just I am a super picky crafter, and I just don’t want to have anything „plastic“ in my yarns. So no „polywhatever“ spoiling my wool. If I could pick just natural fibers, I would get it for sure!
As for the project: I think I would go for the bag. Although I never knitted an apron before… tempting… 🤔
I'm like you when it comes to fibres, I prefer to avoid the poly-whatevers, too. The other issue I have with the project subscription boxes is that I'm usually working on a project and have some others planned. A project from a subscription box would feel like (a) a duty, rather than necessarily a pleasure and (b) it takes time away from projects I already have on the go or am planning on.
I haven't tried amigurumi, I can admire other people's but they're not quite my sort of thing. I can see how an amigurumi subscription box might work for that style of crafter.
Personally I try to avoid that too, although sometimes it has its uses. Like for baby gifts and such.

Merry Christmas! Pleasantly surprised to see a video today. :) I really like the projects, but I will admit . . . the yarn seems very monotonous to me? Granted, it looks like solid yarn, but having seen you work with your handspun so much versus commercial yarn? . . . man, the perspective. Either way, these boxes do look really cool, and I really do love the yarn from the third box. The project bag seems like it'd work up really nicely in that yarn!

Huh. I got that same first knitting box but the included stuff is different. I didn't get the tube for the needles but that's okay I use a collectable tin for those. And the knitting needles are wooden. 3.5mm 2 circulars 15inches , less than 40cm.
I used my own dpns and the yarn to make cat toys. It was annoying to work with, stretchy and liked to split often. I liked the cotton yarn in a later box more more but not enough to keep going.

I'd probably make another scarf. I don't like knit bags because they stretch too much when I put things in them and then I get nervous. A knitted apron would be lovely, but not super useable as an apron? Maybe if it was made of cotton, so it could be machine washed. That's just me though

Yes! I've been worried about the bag stretching (and small objects trying to slip out), especially as the strap is so robust in comparison to the rest of the bag.
They didn't suggest it, but I did it anyway, I also added a zipper. (See the peak of blue in the reveal)
Scarf
I have now got 3 boxes and the frustrating thing is the amount of yarn. I feel they deliberately want you to buy more yarn. I have picked patterns from each box and can't finish them because of this. All being the crochet box. I decided to cancel.

Hey , these look really fun ! But do you know if they ship to Europe from the United States or ship from a place in Europe for European subscribers? I went onto the website and it gave pricing in dollars and in the FAQ they just said it would be shipped from the states within a certain amount of days. If you don’t know it’s ok I can email them. I would consider signing up if I’m not going to be charged customs fees ❤
Apparently they don't. Which I think is a bit odd because they did ask a very European content creator to make content and they did ship to me... I asked if they have any plans for the future, and I'll let you know if they do!

I wouldn't make any of them (answer to that last question). I am not particularly interested in small projects, or not all the time interested.
Not that I'm interested in the box either, but if I'm locked on a project, it's a huge shawl, and extra long cardigan, a dress, A BLANKET!!!!!!! Wonder how they can deal with that with the box formula.
I'm also the type to work for months on a project, or complete it within a year, so having something asked to be finished within a month would be quite stressful for me.
I realise what I'm saying might sound bonkers to some hahahahaha: how is a small project more stressful than a literal bed sized one?
