Carding and spinning ALL the wool I dyed in 2024 into the Ultimate Chaos Yarn
Hello friends! The past year I have dyed so many floofs of sheep's wool with natural dyeing methods. And I have yet to spin them all into yarn. To celebrate the start of a new year, here's the plan: let's put all of those dyed bits of wool onto my drumcarder, let's card all of it into a chaos batt, and then spin it into chaos yarn. That seems like a fitting end to 2024/start to 2025. In this batt are zwartbles wool, blue texel, flemish sheep, belgian milksheep, alpaca and some commercially dyed merino for an extra pop of colour. Happy new year and I hope you enjoy hanging out with me, spinning on my Louët S71, on this first day of a new year.

Blending and spinning handdyed wool to match (or, well, dupe) storebought fiber
Просмотров 4,4 тыс.14 дней назад
Hello friends! I knit TinCan Knits Antler Toque for myself a couple of months ago, and ever since my mom has been pointing out how much she likes that hat. And with her birthday coming up: let's knit her one of these cute cabled hats as well. However, here's the challenge: I run out of yarn after only knitting the ribbing. And the store where I bought the fiber no longer sells this braid of com...

Let's knit a Vintage 1940s Sweater but make it DINOSAURS

Hello friends! It is time for some more vintage knitting shenanigans. And shenanigans it will be. I am basing this sweater knitting project on Bestway A 1916 4d, "Blue bird jumper", but let's make the birds more vintage. More vintage birds? Yes, dinosaurs of course! I'm swapping the swallow motif of one of my favourite dinosaur: the parasaurolophus. Oh btw, this is entirely knit in handspun yar...

Hello friends! My favourite vacation souvenir is yarn. And I'm going on a roadtrip. So while we're at it, why not knit something with the yarn from a previous trip, so that we clear some of our stash to eventually also buy more yarn on this trip? We shall be knitting the Starnkeeker by Katie Davies Design, a fingering weight fair isle slipover in four colours, and let's make it the cosiest and ...
D20 Dice decides How to Knit a Sophie Scarf: adding Chaos to a Cult Classic
Просмотров 5 тыс.Месяц назад
Hello friends! I still had some leftover handspun polwarth yarn, and I don't have enough knitting projects it seems. So let's make ourselves a little autumn scarf with that yarn! My first plan was the Turtle Dove scarf by Sari Nordlund, but that wasn't the best choice for the wool, so we shifted gears and went with the cult classic Sophie Scarf from PetiteKnit. Let's spin some zwartbles wool into yarn to commemorate a dearly beloved pet sheep

Hello friends! Do you remember the zwartbles I spun during Tour de Fleece 2023? One of those sheep, Vic, has sadly passed away this year. He succumbed to the bluetongue virus that has made many victims in Belgium and the Netherlands. Vic was a pet sheep, so a beloved pet for his owners. Spin with me: Let's Spin a Corriedale Combospin

Hello friends! In the beginning of October I went to a fiber festival and picked up two beautiful handdyed combed top braids to spin. They were dyed by the indie dyer Speckles in the Forest. And that is actually all that this video entails: we are going to s...

I love that you actually went through with making the projects instead of just showing the contents of the boxes... like some other videos reviewing merely the box content :/ I was looking for a video where someone actually made them and wow it turned out beautiful! I'm considering buying them but I have to see if there are any other subscription boxes like hooks and needles that are also worth a fair shot! Anyways hope you had a merry Christ-mas, and God bless to you! Thank you for the effort you put into the video :)

I deeply identify with the boringness of warping - the struggle is real, and you don't always know if you did it right until you get to the end of the piece hahaha. I recently spun a bunch of merino and Jacob and wove a blanket in panels on my rigid heddle and then did a tablet woven border and it was a MONSTER project. I did love the end result though! It's so pretty, soft, and warm, and I love it even more knowing it started out as a pile of pretty tops and I made it into something useful and beautiful! Was a pain doing the warping though hahaha.

Before I found your channel I was interested in spinning but every other channel made it seem like this elegant and refined craft that required years of training and learning from an expirienced spinner, which doesn't fit who I find myself to be and outmatches my resources, but your channel showed me that I can be chaotic and weird and have fun with the process without caring about perfection or elegance, so I'm finally getting into spinning my own yarn, thank you so much. Also, for 2025 I'm sculpting my own Tibetan supported spindle and naming it Jente, also planting cotton in my backyard (I'm in Brazil, cotton will get more use) and the goal for the end of the year is processing enough cotton to make a T-shirt with hand dyed, hand spun and homegrown cotton yarn, spun with a hand made spindle. (While the cotton grows and I slowly carve the spindle I'll train spinning with a store bought spindle and cotton/viscose rovings).

Your videos are so lovely and brighten my mood when I watch them, which is greatly appreciated. This has been my first Xmas in England with my partner's family (having moved here in August) and my partner gifted me 100g each of hand-dyed Jacob combed top and Lonk combed top. His lovely dad and step-mum were also incredibly generous in gifting me a bunch of hand-dyed combed top as well, including 100g each of Texel and Masham, 300g of Merino in 3 colours, and another mixed bag of merino top (plus a little pearl silk which I think was added by the shop). They also gave my partner and I some money, some of which I spent buying 200g of hand-dyed BFL (which I found out when I got it is superwashed, should have read the liting more carefully) that didn't quite match my expectation for one of the colours so I spent a while splitting it into two sets of colours. I then spent about half a day spinning the colours I didn't like as much and found that separate from the rest they actually look quite nice, and I'm currently knitting them into a pair of mittens which will be gifted to my partner's mum if she likes them (otherwise probably keeping for myself). Also, the week before Xmas I bought over a kilogram of various breeds of combed top and tried dying them for the first time! I swiftly learned that UK/EU food dyes are not at all like the ones I've seen on American youtubers' channels but nevertheless it was fun and I'm looking forward to spinning them on the lovely Electric Eel Wheel my mum bought me for Xmas. I only started spinning this Halloween so I'm really happy with my progress so far, but sadly no room in tiny UK flats for all my craft stuff or a big spinning wheel so the tiny electric one is serving me well! I've been doing knitting and crochet at least since my tweens, so around 15 years now (along with sewing every now and then), and spinning my own yarn has been wonderful to get in to! I only discovered your channel through a reddit comment a few weeks ago but I'm loving it and looking forward to a new year of videos!
