But what's the source on the thumbnail pic?
Hear me out, 80-90s anime looks like how you see a memory, so even if you watch it for the first time its got that glow of a memory.
The vehicle/city parts to me give the most “at home” vibe because i used to see alot of big city lights and blaring vehicle lights growing up, just being fascinated at the scenery and this complex civilization
That goes for both live-action and anime/cartoons of those times. Basically a dreamscape who wasn’t alive during that time.
False.
Memories are falty and not a (always) reliabe source of information.
Even lawyers knows this.
@@Real-Name..Maqavoy what?? OP is just talking about how the filter in 80s - 90s anime makes it look like a fuzzy vibrant memory
@@cachalotreal Be that as may;
Two wrong don't make one right.
If this makes you offended. That tells me more - About you, rather than the actual filter itself.
The80-90s anime just hit diferent really their attentiveness to details is just surreal
true
Maybe because the anime industry nowadays is populated by people who studied anime as an art. And back then it was populated by people who studied life. Not saying there isn't overlap or exceptions to the rule. That just *seems* to be the case
@@FirepowerFantasyand Japan's economy was BOOMING back then
There's something about it that feels special, you can't get with cgi.
80-90s anime is so great, details & vibrate colors take it to another level!!
i dont know why but in all these clips, the world just feels real. I believe thats what makes the animation and the whole setting so nostalgic...
It's because animation is built on the principle of exaggeration. It looks at life and says, "How can we make this look MORE alive? How can we VISUALLY express the FEELING of being truly alive, and then turn it up a notch?" + 30 years ago, when the demand was lower and artists were working under better conditions, they were able to create like this.
Not to mention the male anf female characters are drawn realistically and not just cute and hot and pretty boy/girl with exaggerated physical proportions which honestly hurts my eyes and brain.
It feels alive because it has a soul. Nothing like the soulless cgi they have now.
Personally the only new gen anime which gives this feeling is CSM which also got ruined in between episodes because of CGI.
It's called, "Hand drawn with love."
the underlying genius that we all miss from golden age anime is that these animators were artists first and foremost. they understood use of color and composition well before they started trying to make their paintings move. today, animation is more about the movement, animation. and while this new age anime is amazing in it's own right, there are only a few that have come forth with this same or at least similar (new) understanding of the basics of artistry.
we've gotten some great stories, and some awesome animation, but what we all miss are the moving paintings
This isn't really why. In this era of global late stage capitalism, artists are placed under increasingly worse working conditions. Their deadlines are shorter despite larger demand and their pay doesn't account for the rising price of living. Artists were still exploited 30 years ago, sure, but it simply wasn't what it is now. They no longer have the luxury to create masterpieces.
@@seraphimian That makes sense what's that quote quality over what?
@@onepunchman4128 Quality over quantity, exactly. Because artists' works are commodities and we live in a profit-driven society, their labor is exploited and their growth and ability to express suffers as a result. It's simply what is bound to happen when art becomes a product, and that effect is only exacerbated when artists are not compensated adequately.
@@seraphimian yeah it's completely mind boggling that they take advantage of the hobbies same for me as an artist I could never see myself giving away art with a price tag on it honestly doesn't matter I mostly do it for the reactions nevertheless the animators shouldn't be given less the what the give out I mean seriously it's all too genuine to take for granted
@@seraphimian Thanks to the FED for printing away 100% in 2 years after the pandemic of the dollars a person took 50 years to save. Welcome to inflation my boy!
Something about 90’s anime is just pleasing to the eyes, the graininess, being hand drawn, and style are something you don’t see all too much anymore.
Same thing for photography with the use of film vs digital, film in certain places just feels nice and somber depending on how you compose your image, digital can compose the same image as the former but when put side to side film has that nice old fashioned feel that other people are drawn to.
It is because human eyes compose images granularly, like film.
C.R.T. screens are known to have a similar effect. Take a C.R.T. that has been restored, serviced and calibrated, and feed the same video source into it, as an LCD, almost everyone is surprised how much a C.R.T.'s image pops.
It’s like the effort for plot in older movies before cgi. They HAD to try harder to keep your attention with simple means and good story. And they did.
@@DanBaker108 artist poured there heart and soul into there art!
One world: Nostalgia .
That hand drawn aesthetic man, digital just can’t compete with that level of expression. Truly human vs machine in the later arcs of anime.
It's not that but it has become a job instead of passion which is why the quality went down
I fully agree with you. The same thing as 35mm film versus digital.
Sometimes the imperfections makes it perfect.
These hand drawn animations are simply perfect
Remember, posting your sources is pretty rad

Real, hits different
80s/90s anime does that to people :)
80s/90s anime just looks so much more vivid, it's truly unmatched.
The golden era of Japanese animation.
To be honest I don't even watch any anime's but just from this I can see the emotion in these old anime's and the art all amazing!
this is really cool, the nostalgia is so overwhelming
Facts!
Yeh :C
"I always knew you're special" became the inseparable part of this song
I never watched anime except for akira, which was amazing. Now I see all these atmospheric stills and wonder what I missed out on.
A lot
Same here but there's a couple of gems I could recommend: Ghost in the Shell (cyberpunk), Record of Lodoss War (fantasy series), Ergo Proxy (cyberpunk series), Perfect Blue (psychological thriller). Lodoss and GitS are 90s and the best. Jin Roh the Wolf Brigade (drama) as well. Paprika is visually dazzling but less engaging.
I feel so sad watching this because it makes me miss my childhood. Just the innocence of it all and wondering what it would be like to grow up. Having something to look forward to and being excited about new discoveries. It doesn't feel the same anymore but this montage gave me a few minutes of being young again ❤
The detail on some early anime was _incredible._
The thumbnail was an absolute waifu. 😍
Anime +Vaporwave = perfect!
I still remember being 17 and learning about manga's, i had watched anime before but manga just sucked me in. It didn't take long before i would really appreciate 80s 90s era anima, it gives that old school anime feeling
80 and 90 s anime is unmatchable ❤
Damn I've been vibing to your previous video lately. Hope this one blows up too. This is gold, keep up the good work.
My God the aesthetic is beautiful

80/90S anime is a strong DeJaVu vibe
When they made anime with love.
When they had the luxury of doing so.
The best era of anime IMHO. Good old days...
came for the girl in the image- stayed for retro latenight drive music-- fell in love with the old anime scenery-how they evoke memories of places ive been...
this song makes me remember the old days how things was worse and bad back then now im in a better place because of god praise the lord man
Dude same
Part of me would love a list of all the shows or films in this video, so I can get around to watching them all, but I imagine that would take an age for someone to do. If anyone kind should ever sees this and either endeavours to do such a thing, or point me in the right direction, please know ahead of time I will be eternally grateful. Whatever the case, I wish all who sees this a merry day! :)
you can screenshot and upload them to google image it will tell you the source right away
@@kaleabspica8437Ah yes I didn't even think about that! Thanks so much for replying to me, and for making this wonderful video in the first place. Thanks again! :)

1:07 - Tokyo Ghoul. This is a modern title. And it’s very atmospheric, lamp-like and evokes nostalgia 👍🔥
Great edit. Your previous one was also amazing. You should try it with another song, for variety.
I think all these shows were anticipating what 21st century would be like.
This was like hearing Resonance for the first time wow!
80s thinking waht will the world will be in 2000s and 2000 thinking what was the world back then in 80s but the real question is what is coming next that will be better than both?
