Actually, I think that the shorter mounting method you have found suits the bikes aesthetics much better, and it will be much more rigid that way too. And so many lovely trains!
Hi Steven, i just moved the silencer to the back mount after removing that plastic and reversing the bracket, just want to see if change in noise/tone and wether baffle needed or not, but agree tge shorter pipe even if only 4 inch shorter looks better! 😜😁👍
I like it how your bike isn't a garage princess. I see that so often out here when they buy the bike, and keep it in a garage its entire life and only ride it maybe one or two times a year. It's dirty, there are imperfections in the paint and that all lends it's self to the overall character of the bike.
Looks good and sounds good Bruce 👍, and if I had those trains at the bottom of the garden my Grandkids would be sat in the back garden all weekend ! 😅😅 Cheers Mel 🍻
Good quality there Bruce. Think, it look slightly better in shorter mode. Knowing you, you will try it on the other mount.😊 My baffle is back in, also. I have seen myself switching engine off, when horses are passing. So should notice a wee difference in exhaust sound, on the forthcoming video’s 😊 Crap…..that’s the bloody rain on. Lochcarron this weekend 😊
@@Coastriderscotland am just fert. Getting freezing cold feet and intermittent shivering. Bring on warmer weather. It’s stopping the cam getting fitted. Mine you. Droneon 29 in France, his weather, is just as bad.
Did this 2 days ago, mounted the long way. Used a screw driver and wallpaper scraper and a brillo to get the grey stuff off. running without baffle bike sound really great. The silencer looks as good as it gets.
I refitted the silencer this morning the proper way having peeled of the protective film, will try it once rain goes off and see how that sounds with baffle in and out 😁👍👍
Without the baffle it sounds like a military helicopter 👍. I was worried it would look odd (I have the same black engine), but it doesn’t, it looks great.
The colour and shine should darken down after a few rides in wet weather and not washing it! A lit of WW2 despatch bikes had chrome pipes and going by old pictures they did not stay shiney for long! 😁👍
Great video, nice to see what a stainless system looks like on the black engine, I have the same black engine and was contemplating the free flow exhaust. Sounds awesome, looking forward to part 2 👍
Thanks! 😁👍 Real happy with the deeper exhaust tone now, we rode 130 miles yesterday, today I’m going to try get that plastic off the silencer mount and reverse it to fit it the longer lenght and we will see how that sounds - that will be the Part 2 film 😁👍👍
Good to see this is just a simple straight swap, Thank you for posting. That plastic just looks like some sort of protection that was on the sheet steel when it was being cut out, doesn't it? What else could it be? I'll look out for it when I get mine, and make sure I get rid of it - somehow! Thanks again mate. Julian.
Hi Julian, i removed the plastic this morning easily enough after getting under a corner with a Stanley knife blade as recommended by someone and other folk have already done the same 👍😁
Ya a bit shiny just yet 😉 It does sound good. I saw a guy shorten his stock exhaust just by removing the cat. He did have to fabricate a simple mounting bracket.though. 🥃
Hi lance, i need to dull it down to go with the rest of the bike 😜👍 Glyn Owen in Wales did that on his Meteor, front pipe to silencer and it looks good! 😁👍🥃😁
Bruce, sounds great. That material will just pull off, try to get a sharp blade under a corner. It is what the base product has on to protect prior to being worked.
Hi Bruce, bike is looking and sounding great. I wondered whether you were going to paint the new pipe black in keeping with the style of the bike. Cheers.. Ian
Hi Ian, i am going to let the pipe dull down naturally by not cleaning it rather than paint it as the paint would probably need constant touching up, but will see how it weathers first! 😁👍
That sounds braw! Interesting to see the new can getting fitted and the decisions you had to make along the way. I would love to do the canyon slip on for my Super Meteor, but am really confused by all the warning about it not being "compliant" with this and that. From what I can tell, you just can't ride your bike in Europe with these fitted and come MOT time I would need to put the original cans back on just to go through the MOT and then out these back on afterwards? Anyways, have to say Bruce, I never had you pegged as a chrome man?
Sadly they do not make the stainless pipe in black, they say because of UK production costs, so o am just going to try dull the pipe down by not cleaning it as exhaust paint will probably not last long, we will see how it weathers, I have the stock pipe sitting complete again so can fire it on for the MOT if needed 😁👍👍
I like your alternative “short” mounting method. Just out of interest, do you think if you drilled a second hole in the mounting plate just below the original to raise the end can up by a couple of degrees, there would be enough flexibility in the rest of the joints to tighten everything up without over stressing them? Just thinking if I bought the exhaust as well as the cam it would just increase the need for that accessory 350 classic !😂
Im going to try it in the rear ward mount later today and see if any sound difference, my mate says ‘ think Trombone! It may make a deeper tone 👍 I do prefer it as a shorter looking pipe, and i deft will not get polished! 🤣😜😁👍
I wish trains ran along the bottom of my garden. I would absolutely love it. Marvelous!
We enjoy seeing the non regular freight and steam trains Trev 😁👍
@@Coastriderscotland what a great location. Love it!

Hi Mel, thanks and the trains are popular with folks on here 😁👍
Cheers Bruce
Cheers Mel, a lot, of folk love seeing the trains on here 😁👍👍👍
In my early days of biking, I remember cutting a tin can into a strip and using it to help clamp the exhaust to the pipe. Scary number of years back!
Thats how we repaired rusty holes in old silencers! Bean can and a Jubilee clamp! 😁👍👍
Shiny! Nice! Vrooom! Crobba crobba! Bonus train!
Oh yeah! 😜👍

Hi Mark, poring down here this now! 😂 waiting to dry up so can get a bit film for Pt 2 film! Hope weather improves for this weekend! For everyone! 🤞😁👍

@@Coastriderscotland 'ONCE THE RAIN GOES OFF' Hmm, do royal enfield do a jet ski? So very fed up with the endless rain.
Looks and sounds great, I even think it’s better placement there less chance of getting it damaged when you get off the beaten track Bruce 👍
Hi Mike, going to try it on longer rear mount but will refit it short if no noise improvement 😁👍
Looks and sounds lovely bud, the back of the clamp should peel off it's just a protective film 👍
Hi Mark, i removed the protective film this morning - be a part 2 film soon once the rain goes off! 🤣😂👍

are you going to paint the exhorts ?
