Christian, if you are not already so recognized, I hereby award you a PhD in mechanical engineering and appoint you Professor at the International Studies of Complex Things Department of Regensburg University. All hail Professor Doctor Christian!
Robins workmanship in that forging was very impressive, to make that part to that standard atall is impressive but to do it in 8hours is something else again. Great video as usual guys , Vera is good at sowing it seems 😁
Another Sunday morning's video. Very enjoyable. It has given me the encouragement to go fix my Land Cruiser. After 33 years one of the interior lights has stopped working.
So when you discover how to make SDV6 Gen 2 engines indestructible, then you can morph the channel into Robin's forging channel. That diagnosis was very well done Christian.
As a dedicated Land Rover enthusiast , I must say I'm most impressed with the repair skills demonstrated on this channel . The most impressive of which , it has to be said , are Vera's sewing skills . Christian's DIY line boring doesn't even come close . LOL I would be most interested to see , on a weekly basis , how well Vera's repair is holding up too. Very, very impressive, guys. Fattrucker
Hi Christian and Vera, great videos. Your enthusiasm and expertise has always been inspiring to me. I had gear selection problems with my 2007 Disco 3 auto after filter and oil change. Clunking into gear on stopping and flearing between gear changes. Took it to a LR in Johannesburg but after 3 days of “we will redo gearbox adaptation” I collected it. I watched a few guys doing repairs on ZF6HP26 boxes and decided to give it a go. You guys motivated me to try. I have successfully overhauled the Mechatronics component and have a gearbox that is now 110% smooth. Thank you for inspiring me Juan South Africa
Good morning Vera & Christian 😊 not only can Vera fix engines but her jeans too lol 😂 What a fascinating video 👍🏻 I enjoyed every minute especially seeing the skilful Robin making that cross 🤩 Have a lovely week and see you both next Sunday xx
Like father like son , the attetion to detail from both Christian and Robin is extreme , well done both of you . Another great Landrover video with plenty of banter between Christian and Vera , nice jeans repair too
Shout out to Robin for the metal fabrication. I had to go for a sit down and cup of tea after all those microns! I thought there was a flaw on one of the crank webs, but your spray said not, good job. Will look up Dave's videos. The show is not complete without you both, remember that, as Little and Large, Bill and Ben, Morecombe and Wise! OMG! Love it and a fascinating video, highlight of the week, now I can get on with my own work!
I noticed Christian said that you can’t just throw new bearings (and piston rings) into and engine and put it back together and drive it , but after all the inspection measurement and analysis it looks like that is (more or less) exactly all that needs to happen here…. great result !
Intense critical to detail , how possibly can a engine failure occur after Vera and Christian, have done such accurate measurement and then verified by Dave’s 4 C’S , perhaps add a 5th C = Coffee 😊. This is so professional , it certainly runs in the family , Phillip’s blacksmithing . Well done and a “ happy Mother’s day “ Vera , from SA .
As a machinist - I really enjoyed the explanation of the various measurements made to confirm the bearing wear pattern. As someone with black smithing experience, too, your son’s skills are incredible! In 8 hours? Wow!
Robin’s skills are just amazing. I thought this profession had died out years ago. I reckon he could make you a cylinder block and a crankshaft would be a walk in the park for him. I’m serious about the crank. You should be so proud of him. Well done Robin.
Professor Christian, I am truly in awe as to the amount of fantastically useful information that you include in your videos. Forget Dave! you are the best please please keep this up.
Super interesting video guys, the precision involved with these engines is amazing. I love watching the problem solving. It's also such an added bonus to watch Robin and his blacksmithing; he is very talented!
Well, I am sure everyone agrees with me, You are true mechanic engineer. To explain the punctuality of the engine work and all the parts in relation, is phenomenal. Wow, hats off Chris. Not so many videos out on You Tube have the detail tutorial of Mechanics.
yes in my younger days as mr goodwrench i had to replace a crankshaft that had the balancer bolt broke off in it and another brilliant mechanic destroyed it trying to get the broken bolt out. also watched live as a plymouth dustpan duster that never had the oil changed in 30,000 miles threw the con rod right through the side of the block.
Herr professor doctor Christian and deputy professor Vera - that was very informative and entertaining, as usual. Thanks also for including some of the blacksmithing work - great to see some ancient skills still being used by young artisan Robin.
Amazing work, really incredible stuff. My young boys are a bit too young for this but I will surely watch these all again when they’re older as I want them to be able to appreciate such ingenuity and accuracy.
Happy Mother's day Vera! I watch Dave's videos as well. I watch your video's 1/5th for Vera, Christian, Landrover content and 1/5th for your kids exploits, particularly Robin's blacksmithing. The final 1/5th for your humour and how you all work together.
CRISTIAN Dont let Vera watch Daves videos, about Honing, she might get the idea that he, could be better at other stuff than honing!!!!😄 Thanks to both off you, for another exellent executed video! Love Robins skills, waiting for the assemble video!
Hi guys Really enjoyed this video , and wait patiently for the next instalment, Christian your math is probably correct about the percentage of viewers watching for whatever reason , but you under rate your value in these videos , some of the shots you got were stunning , and in such obviously cold conditions, thanks and have a great day , also amazing blacksmith work , good to see a young man with such pride and skill in a dying difficult trade , 👍 Regards Davy 🏴🇹🇭
Going to be a great blacksmith when his apprenticeship is over, already quite impressive, really great work. Glad you went the extra mile to test the diameters of the bearings both in and out. A lot of people would only do it with the new bearings in, if they tested this stuff at all. Another great video guys, thanks, see you next Sunday!
When I think of all the shadetree mechanics out there putting used engines into their cars or even more amibitiously rebuilding their engines without your level of inspection, it is no wonder they have so many issues. Almost at 70K subscribers, wonderful!
It's always a good day to see two people that I enjoy making a video about range rovers thank you and God bless you hallway have fun and always keep us all watching thank you❤👍🇺🇸🇩🇪 add some of the greatest engineer come from Germany I think the world all know that always thank you 👍💯
Absolutely fabulous guys. Fore sprung dork technique! With apologies to my German and Audi!! Where would our world be without LR time and your micron gauge.
Utterly captivating. Perhaps your best ever video. Fantastic technical content. Plenty of Christian/Vera relationship chemistry and a quick pop down to the forge to see what's going on down there. Bravo!!!
OK where do I start? Obviously the work Robin did was absolutely amazing he is an extremely talented guy. He must get all his talent from Dave, ops sorry Vera. As for today's LR Time video, this for me was genuinely the best video I think I have watched of yours and I love them all. It just felt like I was back in my aeronautical jet engine classes again. So enjoyable. On a personal note, it's interesting that there have been cases in the media or on RUclips where the presenters have been spotted to display certain conditions where symptoms have been diagnosed by viewers. On this Christian, I couldn't help but notice every time you said the name Dave, it caused your upper lip to curl and your face to grimace 😬mabe you could see a doctor or even a therapist to look into this condition for you before it becomes irreversible 😂 Finally, as for the jeans repair, I would say from the extreme close up that the chassis looked in fine condition and no issues with the bottom end on this one 👍great work guys.
Robin,s work is Extraordinary well done Robin Nice to see the skills of the Christian &Vera bantering about the way to make a bit of pommy rubbish reliable The family that works and plays together stays together Namaste Raymond
Maybe that was a bit too much for a sunday desktop mechanic.😛 I had to stay focused like beeing back at school to keep track of what was being measured and what are we expecting to get out of that. 😉 Poor Vera. You need a bit of practise to use a micrometer. It can make you crazy.😉 A humah hair is around 5 microns thick. That's what we are dealing with here - to have a comparison. I would like to see the 'blockbusting' crank to be crack tested if Im not asking too much. It's really crazy that it can push a rod out of the block and still doesn't crack. Mine cracked 5kkm after a belt change and I wasnt the onlyone. I was looking for the 'belt tension vs crank fatigue' video but I can't find it. Great channel! Keep the good stuff comming. Love watching you 2. Thank's for the entertaining sundays. 💪
Great content Christian and Vera , if you have time show more of Robins skill it’s a credit to him to be that talented , well done Mate . Looking forward to seeing what you do next week thanks for sharing.
Once again you 2 knock it out of the park, tell your son it's good to see the old ways brought to life again by a new generation . Stay safe all of you . Your humor is priceless.
I will go and watch Dave when i have finished watching you as I love Landrovers and especially any mechanical work being done on them thank you for the video
I like how Vera mended her jeans. I used to patch my farm jeans with cloth glue on a regular basis when the knees wore out from leading and stacking hay/ straw bales. They were nothing to look at but they did the job.😊
Gosh guys you were on form today - pure therapy - technically way above my pay grade but still watched!! A happy marriage I think! Got a 3.0L Jag XF 2013 so suspect I may have the same engine!
Yes you do, but that doesn't mean it will fail. The failure rate is pretty low, it's just that only the bad things are good for repair RUclips content. 👌🙋♀️
Another excellent video! You really brought home the importance of dimensional and geometric tolerances: the devil is in the detail for sure. Robin's work is superb: a real talent. And please can we see more of Vera's clothes repairs!
Christian and Vera you were absolutely correct about my car when I contacted you about the gear box thump and the car Jerking forward. following your advice the next day I took it into the service centre. it turned out the car after JLR transmission service , they had not replaced the gasket and had caught the old gasket. This meant I had lost 5 litres of oil out of the gearbox. No fault on the dash however until it stopped how can the car lose 5 litres of transmission fluid and not show a fault code ? all fixed now thanks again for telling me that clunk was serious ❤
I'm sure this engine will last as long or longer than Vera's pant repair . Very classy BTW Christian !......hahahaha ! Retired FORD mechanic from London Ontario Canada . Cheers ! Robin , excellent blacksmith skills 👍
Great to see Robin's work, he's going to be a real master craftsman. I think I understand how he got the horizontal rod into place with the hole in the middle that's too big to go through either side. I think. Also, great to see things being smithed that are tools and decorations and not weapons like the Americans and the Brits like to make.

Hi @harveysmith
I’d check but it’s probably still under warranty ✌️
