  • Also known as the Scrambler and the Twister, though the CNE doesn't call it by the latter name, since they have had a different ride by that name, which didn't appear this year even though it was announced on an early version of the ride list. The Sizzler is completely missing from the final version of the CNE's list of rides for this year. And yet, it's here!
In past years, the CNE sometimes has two of these, and sometimes none.
There are two kinds of Scramblers or Sizzlers. This is the newer kind with friction drive, using rubber tires. The older kind uses a cog wheel drive, and it is considered to be a better ride. The CNE has had one of each kind in years when they've had two Scramblers at once.
Interestingly, when the scrambler ride first appeared in the mid 20th century, it was made to operate either forwards or backwards, and the turning of the 3 arms was controlled independently from the main axle. Therefore the ride operator had the ability to have both parts turning in the same direction, which would have made for a very fast ride, but operators were instructed never to do this! All rides were eventually modified to make it impossible to do that, and now it's all driven by one control. I've never seen one run backwards.

The Sizzler and the Scrambler are different but they are similar. The difference between the Sizzler and the Scrambler is that the Scrambler is Steel and has the name Scrambler on it in yellow and red. The Sizzler the cars are different colors.

This ride is the Sizzler not the Scrambler. The Scrambler is the metal one(ride). The Twister I am not sure what it looks like!
