For the whole story:
Everyone meet James, the very nice employee working the Skymaster that told me to "CALM THE HELL DOWN!" when I asked if my harness would lock when the ride started.
I ended up riding with a semi locked harness while holding myself in my seat by pushing up on the outer cage bars. The video was followed up with me confronting him and him telling me he doesn't give a f**k and that he's loaded.
From everyone to you James thanks for endangering peoples lives on the rides. I hope all that "cash" you have can pay for your legal bill when you get someone killed :)

I can't believe my friend convinced me into riding this. My biggest fear is heights and I was freaking the hell out the entire time lol.
The first time is horrible but after its not so bad I rode it 4 times and I'm only 11 LMAO

I went on a ride that looks like this in movieworld (except its without the cage) and it’s not as scary as it seems.
The person holding the camera should have said something to the person that was just there putting the cage down....That doesn't make sense why you wouldn't say anything

Omg I loved this ride it was so fun, I felt like I was floating when it went upside down!
i went on this, i was so scared especially when the guy told me if i do fall then the metal bars are there to catch me, and the restraints are supposed to be like that your basically supposed to hold on for your life 😂😭 which made it even more scarier but as soon as i got off my muscles were hurting and i felt so nauseous and dizzy i could barely eat anything for like a hour but i guess that was my fault for holding on so hard but i don't regret it at all it was super fun looking back and now that i know i rode that ride and survived i could ride any other ride which is one of the best parts of scary rides like these once you're done riding it you feel like you can conquer the world plus when we went back i rode it again 😊

This man should be prosecuted and face criminal charges. It looked like the guy didn't say anything he just showed that the bar wasn't secure. I'd wave my arm and yell that something is wrong right when staff approached. Life threatening many ride accidents are
My seat was half locked as well, and i had to hold on for my life!
There wasn't a follow up video. I yelled at the guy and he said stuff like I get paid more than you... like that matters. I then called and reported him and they said they would "deal" with him but I have no idea if anything was done sadly.

I love going on rides, but it seems that when ever you go on a ride now a days, they employees never fully check it. All they do is tap the bar. That's it!

artist1011000 And I'm always wondering why they need to have belts holding the bars down if they pneumatically lock, anyway. Nobody complained when rides only had basic restraints,; now rides with the same motions have back-ups to the restraints and people complain they're not secure enough.

I know all that. My point is: some have a back-up belt, some don't, and there doesn't seem to be any rhyme nor reason which do, and which don't have them. Classic steel-coaster rolling stock (no anti-sub shape to the seats) don't have belts, most inverted (anti-sub shaping to seats) coasters do. Skymaster here obviously does, Freak Out (very similar-looking seats) doesn't.
artist1011000 not where I live THANK GOD they push and pull push and pull 2x then they pull u forwards to make sure ur body won't push it off
when i went on the ride they didn't lock the bar the only think that helped me was the seat belt!
they should be fined for this. if this happens in my country, they have to lock the attraction, they get a fine, and have to break down the entire atraction.

88Meava88 same we had this ride called hammer and the only thing they had to tie it was a lap belt it had no securaty at all also it made u hit ur head So they took it of and got a fine.

I went in to the Calgary stampede and I went in the same spot and I was holding my self in the seat with my hands pushing against the bottom of the bar

I Rode one of these rides, and I was wondering the same thing and he said nope they dont lock, but when he first releases the air brakes, they do lock down. I love this ride

I just went on this ride today at the Playdome in BC. I actually liked it, except when you are upside down and the harness goes into your chest a bit but that was okay too.

There is one, or was, one of these in spain, where there is not harness, just a subjection on your hips, like the coaster Outlaw Run, and it leaves you on the top for a while, hope to see it again someday!
This happened to me on the Skymaster. I was in, and it didn't lock all the way. The chest restraint came out about six inches from my chest. I have bruises on my ankles from holding on to the metal. They never even check the chest. The only thing holding me in was the seatbelt connected to the harness. It was terrifying.
I've been on a similar ride but the restraints were a loose belt around you and a small enclosed spot on the ceiling you could actually fall off
I would try to locate someone in charge of the fair, and report the rider operator's attitude!
I went on this ride at the Melbourne show in Australia a few weeks ago, although it is called something different here but its the exact same ride. I don't know if they did semi lock it because i was in the exact same seat on the left at the front and i could also pull the thick black bars about 3 inches from my chest and i was honestly so scared on that ride. I spent the whole time, tensed up, holding/pressed against anything that would hold my weight. I didn't feel locked in properly, i didn't feel safe. I feel like when you are on this ride, that you are never really on the seat but you are not really held in properly by the bars. I hated every minute of it and honestly was shaking so much from holding on so tight that at one point i couldn't feel my hands anymore. I panicked way too much. I hate this ride. I looked up the ride and its other names and also started ready about many deaths on this ride. Including a young girl who got so frightened when it inclined at the top that is literally pulled her harness off, and climbed through 12 inch bars to plummet to her death. I wouldn't go on this ride again if you payed me. I think they need to tighten the bars, redesign it so you feel like you are held in better atleast because that is an expensive ride and to be honest, youre just paying for your worst nightmare, if you sit in that left seat at the front. My friend who was on the ride with me and sat at the front in the right seat, said it was pretty much the scariest ride she had been on but she didnt feel like i did. Not strapped in enough and like not really having a good time at all. lol Anyway, cool video guys and i felt your pain being on the ride in that seat man lol. Have a good day. :)

there was a ride called the vortex exactly like this at the Lisbon fair and I rode it like 20 times I was always worried tho when the guy held it up for like 20 seconds lol

My friend told me, " come on the skymaster!!" I thought it was another ride, so I said yes. Turns out, I went on this....

The other one was at a fair / carnival-like (Schützenfest) and my restraint opened a few centimetres which should NEVER happen with that particular restraint system. I was still safe because these restraints are fail-safe and secured with different techniques. But it scared me a lot and also caused the cabins status lamp above my restraint to signal the problem.
That being said, I ride theme park rides more often than most other people. Accidents and especially restraint failures are VERY rare.
The employee need to make sure your safe thats bullshit
I rode that same ride last month but it was called Screamer instead of Skymaster. It was fun and scary at the same time.
I had a similar experience on a ride just like this one except the ride was called Screamer where if I would have unbuckled my seatbelt attached to the harness it would have just gone back up...
I had the same problem happen to my dad and sister to the point it wouldn’t lock at all. Luckily they listen to him. Few years later I was on the hang glider ride and they didn’t even strap two kid in. On top of that they didn’t stop the ride when they were screaming and begging them to stop

I love the sky master I went on it plenty of times in it was fun we went so high that it was cool and I sat in the front of the ride and the front is cool
I agree - this is perfectly normal. This might seem dangerous and it's probably not as fancy as a modern restraint system but it gets the job done. It prevents you from falling out and can take a lot of force.
This particular restraint swings a good bit and could possibly hurt you when falling back at you. But let me reassure you, that you won't fall out..
Some of the older restraints might be broken, but they usually have 2-5 lock positions, if one breaks there is still enough backup..

When, I went on this ride for the first time Dx.. when We went backwards... it felt like I, was gonna fall out or something DX it was scary for my first time... after that I felt kinda weak X'D but I might go on it next year or something like that again XD... Lol

This ride is crazy
Though, I'm in Europe and operators seem a little bit more "cautious" and watched closely by law (Especially in Germany).
I still experienced 2 restraint failures. One was a serious one in a roller-coaster (non looping), jr. coaster actually. I must have been around 10 at the time and the restraint system broke completly during exiting the station. There was a loud bang and the restraint opened. The seats were closed afterards and the park excused.

I went on a ride like that (called lumberjack from canadas wonderland) and they barely checked her seat belt. It came off in the middle of the ride and they didn't have like a metal cage around it. We were literally screaming lmao.
