Matt has profected his voice without hurting it and he's healthy and young this band is gunna get massive...er lol I can't fucking wait for the next album I'm still obsessed with the last im relatively new just got into them a few years ago amd haven't looked back
yea crazy that once Travis Smith left the band started a slow downward spiral then they find a drummer with speed and intensity again and they are back to their sound. Alex is the saving grace here

I kinda jumped on the Shogun bandwagon around 2009 when they toured with Slipknot. Caught their show in Greenville SC and been a lifer ever since! Seen them 3 times in total and will definitely catch again! Best metal band of the last decade in my opinion!
I felt so lucky when we got The Sin and the Sentence. It brought my hope back into modern metal. What the Dead Men Say furthered that way of thinking, and I thought it was going to stop at TSATS, but here we are. I'm sure this is going to be another amazing album. Thank you for making music, fellas. When people talk about albums they can listen to all the way through without skipping.. well, I'm sure this will add to the catalogue.

This is what I've been wanting to hear for nearly two decades and I am so happy. Thank you Alex and thank you Trivium for three masterpieces in 4 years.

Best album since Shogun by far. This was unexpected and blew my freaking mind. Not only did they go back to their roots, but lyrically this album is a good as it gets. Story telling is on point
I can't really agree, in my opinion Matt's screams stopped being nearly as diverse after In Waves (for understandable reasons) and the last three albums haven't shown a lot of versatility when it comes to his screams
@@connorism69 yeah, after listening to it a bit more i think ember is a better fit. But you can definetely hear how he really tries to sound like in the early days. And yes, Ascendancy really was a strong era for him. Also the cleans on that album are insane!

The thrash sound and Metallica vocals weren't for me. I will say though that they did have some bangers on The Crusade and Shogun like Detonation, Torn Between Scylla and Charybdis, Broken One, and Throes of Perdition.

It's very different from their other albums that lean into Metalcore much more than Shogun... matter of fact nothing from Shogun is metalcore. It's very much a thrashy prog album. For me TSATS and WTDMS are superior albums, although not by much. Just to my tastes I think it's: 1. WTDMS 2. TSATS 3. Shogun 4. In Waves 5. Ascendancy 6. Vengeance Falls 7. Crusade 8. Ember 9. SITS
Trivium, Opeth, Ne Obliviscaris, Porcupine Tree and Mgła: bands that have followed me in my life journey over the past 8 years... The best thing that I did in 2013 was to listen to "Vengeance Falls" from Trivium. Since then, they have opened a whole new portal to the musical world for me. Love this band so much!

Part of what makes Alex so special is that in addition to his extreme technical abilities, he has so much STYLE. Technicality for the sake of technicality can sound a bit sterile sometimes, but his parts are always creative, dynamic and just FUN! Damn, I love this so much.
This is actually my complaint about early trivium. Both Acendancy and The Crusade were good, but I felt they were far more 'technically good' than stylistically good. They've come a long way-- in a good way.
and it's amazing how he does it, because he manages to perfectly stay within the bounds of being an awesome and intense drummer, but not intricate to the point of being corny or overdone.
Love the homage to The king in yellow in the visuals and lyrics. Thats some good shit and one of the reasons I've always loved trivium. Their knowledge of old stories and myths put into song is seriously badass.
I’ve never seen a band do such a good job of innovating but also combining everything that has made their past work great. It’s pretty rare to see bands really hitting their stride 10 albums in.
Wow that was a journey man. It’s as if they took ember/ascendancy/shogun, threw it in a blender but in 2021. It felt so classic but fresh at the same time. This band is like wine, they just keep getting better.

I think, with this, Trivium has fully declared itself an all time metal great. I'm excited for a new album and more bad ass songs like this. Matt and the guys never disappoint.

I didn't get into Trivium until late into their career. I'd heard about them, but all my impressions came from detractors assuring me they were just Metallica copycats with a worse template - metalcore. I feel that was true early on in their career, but that's far from being the case now. Songs like this epic, cinematic masterpiece show just how much they've grown out of those comparisons and how much I missed out on. Since catching up on their discography, I've seen them live three times and every experience only gets better and better. Trivium are one of a kind, man.

I think they sound a little more like they did in Ember to Inferno. I don't think anything beats the Ascendancy level though :D.
I can't really agree, in my opinion Matt's screams stopped being nearly as diverse after In Waves (for understandable reasons) and the last three albums haven't shown a lot of versatility when it comes to his screams
@@connorism69 yeah, after listening to it a bit more i think ember is a better fit. But you can definetely hear how he really tries to sound like in the early days. And yes, Ascendancy really was a strong era for him. Also the cleans on that album are insane!

@@Bloorgusgoorge Although the older albums between Ascendency and In Waves shaped who they are today, I'm glad they switched and found this new sound. The thrash sound and Metallica vocals weren't for me. I will say though that they did have some bangers on The Crusade and Shogun like Detonation, Torn Between Scylla and Charybdis, Broken One, and Throes of Perdition.

It's very different from their other albums that lean into Metalcore much more than Shogun... matter of fact nothing from Shogun is metalcore. It's very much a thrashy prog album. For me TSATS and WTDMS are superior albums, although not by much.

The best thing that I did in 2013 was to listen to "Vengeance Falls" from Trivium. Since then, they have opened a whole new portal to the musical world for me. Love this band so much!

I've been listening to all Trivium's discography for 8 years straight. Trivium is my favorite band Haha
And "Shogun" is my favorite record from them. So flawless, just like Opeth's "Blackwater Park'' and "Ghost Reveries", in my opinion.
If you like Ne Obliviscaris and Opeth and haven't already done so, please dive head first into Between the Buried and Me, and Native Construct

God Damn, this song is F*KING INSANE
Chorus is so dramatic, can't get away from it.
Part of what makes Alex so special is that in addition to his extreme technical abilities, he has so much STYLE. Technicality for the sake of technicality can sound a bit sterile sometimes, but his parts are always creative, dynamic and just FUN! Damn, I love this so much.
And he has taste and groove too!
This is actually my complaint about early trivium. Both Acendancy and The Crusade were good, but I felt they were far more 'technically good' than stylistically good. They've come a long way-- in a good way.
and it's amazing how he does it, because he manages to perfectly stay within the bounds of being an awesome and intense drummer, but not intricate to the point of being corny or overdone.

Love the homage to The king in yellow in the visuals and lyrics. Thats some good shit and one of the reasons I've always loved trivium. Their knowledge of old stories and myths put into song is seriously badass.

Wow that was a journey man. It’s as if they took ember/ascendancy/shogun, threw it in a blender but in 2021. It felt so classic but fresh at the same time. This band is like wine, they just keep getting better.

I didn't get into Trivium until late into their career. I'd heard about them, but all my impressions came from detractors assuring me they were just Metallica copycats with a worse template - metalcore. I feel that was true early on in their career, but that's far from being the case now. Songs like this epic, cinematic masterpiece show just how much they've grown out of those comparisons and how much I missed out on. Since catching up on their discography, I've seen them live three times and every experience only gets better and better. Trivium are one of a kind, man.
