I literally bought a 6-6 accord a few months ago and you are such an inspiration to me I’m so happy to have a modern RUclips series about these accords, thank you
I honestly think your problem is the Acceleras, they’re terrible tyres, when I worked at a tyre fitting garage we used to change so many of them under warranty for feathering on the inner edge and sidewalls cracking around the bead after sometimes only weeks. Stopped selling them in the end. Looking forward to the front and rear Brembo caliper upgrade, OEM+
yeah I mean if there's something you should never cheap on, it's tires. This shit can save your life. It's been tested several times, the worst tire brands can more than double your breaking distance. Don't be cheap on tires, especially when big proven brands provide options than are not that much more expensive then chinesium crap
It's definitely those cheap Indonesian made tires. This is why you only see them on very small RUclips channels because they'll " understandably" take any sponsor they can get.
12:40 “it’s also a little scary because i feel like i forgot to tighten something” Bro is having flashbacks to the wheel falling off of the RX7 at the old shop😭😭
All fresh bushings and inner/outer tie rods and ball joints makes a world of difference alone. I was selling these when then were new off dealer floor, and they felt insanely buttery and confidence inspiring back then when fresh. Wheel bearings too! (set magnet side down if applicable on floor overnight and put a couple drops of used motor oil on the non magnetic side, by the morning they become the smoothest bearings you've ever felt)
Normal Phillips won’t work because Honda uses JIS screws. The way you’re supposed to remove the screws is with a Japanese industrial standard impact screwdriver. The Honda dealer service centers use them and they seem to work every time
@@SanProsan1993I don't think swapping the engine is worth it, you shouldn't need more than what you can get from this in a daily. It'll just end up being a lot of work for potentially worse results
Caleb to keep those rotor screws from stripping grab an impact screw driver and just hammer it out. Harbor frieght sells one for cheap ive been using for the past few years with 100% success!! No more drilling them out lol
Look into the tl swap! the j32a3 and the tl trans(l.s.d) drops right in and you can use the stock harness repinned with a tl ecu. Big jump in power and a rare swap not often done.
It's more about the fact it's a very cheap all season. My boi keeps cheaping out on the tires. A Continental ExtremeContact DWS, Pilot Sport All Season 4, Falken FK460 or Pzero All season would blow the heck out of these tires. And many of those will still do 50K miles. That's just advanced silica compounds today.
@@ignasanchezl I've got the Falken FK460s on my car (FWD, ~300hp) and they are great. I previously had Continental Extreme Contact Sports, their UHP summer tire. I can definitely tell a difference in sidewall stiffness, the Falken are softer. At least in my application I am not struggling at all for traction in acceleration or braking, 30 rolls etc. They are significantly cheaper than the continentals too
I am currently rocking the Continental Extreme Contact Sport 02's and they are AMAZING. Taking the infamous Cali exits at 50 MPH and feeling so much confidence while doing it is something you have to experience. If you don't know about the Cali exits, They're basically on/offramps that are a near 360° turn and the limit on them is anywhere from 15mph to 25mph. I can not recommend these tires enough. They out perform the Pilot Sport 4S' and after having them on for 20k miles, the "W" for wet road conditions is barely worn down. The only real problem I've had with them is how easily they hydroplane at high speeds, but you would be hard pressed to find a tire in its bracket that performs comparably.
my 7th gen sedan was tucking 18x8.5 esr cs15s on 215/35 tires, no camber arms or anything, just natural camber in from being low. these cars are amazing for stance related builds bc theyre easy to adjust
Hey, I own a 2001 CL Type S. If you are looking to get rid of the boat feeling, the best recommendation I can give you is the rear sway bar. The 24mm from Progress for the 05-08 TL is interchangeable with your car. Best mod I’ve done on the car.
I have the exact same model im building. I can appreciate your attention to detail and the potential of this car. I look forward to seeing what changes you’ll make. Its looks amazing. Keep up the great work.
You did a great job on that steering wheel cover and I really respect that you went with 18s cuz I see so MANY people throw 20s on and I KNOW they’re sacrificing ride quality for “looks”. Great video!!!
I mean I think he lives in either Georgia or Florida. Either way it doesn’t snow here so he could just ditch all seasons. I remember seeing his cars listed near me on fb marketplace
@StanleyKubick1 I run them during winter to prevent my summer tires to getting cold. They will start to Crack if that happens. It's also snowed the last 2 years in tx.
@@caboose6411 Not just about snow, lots of manufacturers have a minimum temperature rating for the safety of the rubber regardless of road conditions. I had continental ECS for 2 winters on my car and saw 20 degrees F many times without issue, but they definitely can crack. Look up summer tires cracking in the winter
@@caboose6411 You can't be Ultra high performance and be all season. Either you are a winter tyre or a summer tyre. But compromise is never ultra high performance.
One thing Ive learned with coilovers is that the recommended spring rates are already going to be stiffer than any boaty stock ride. If anything, I drop the spring rate down like 1 or 2k and upgrade to swift springs and you can get a great ride thats still plush enough for a daily driver and stiff enough for some spirited driving. Second, your slower time could just be due to those tires no being that great but also if the wheel and tire setup is taller than what was on there, you are basically putting a taller final drive gear ratio on the car. That could make it a little slower as well.
Part of what made the 0-60 slower is that brand new tires take a decent amount of miles to reach their peak traction, you'll probably see better times after driving for a bit
im actually building an 8th gen close to just like this, these videos will be awesome to look back on when it comes time for my mods. Feel free to make these longer and show more in depth about things you think would be nice for someone going to be tackling the project as well, I would not complain!
I’m convinced nobody in this comment section has ever ran Accelera Phi R’s and are just speculating they’re bad lmao. I think you need to raise it to allow the springs to have some compression over bumpers so it doesn’t bottom out. Lower doesn’t always mean better. I do the 2 finger method or as close to it as possible. I have that same spring rates on my Mazda3 and I don’t bottom out over bumps or rub. Car looks great! Loving this series!
My work shoes for over this past year has been a pair of Brunts. They've been great as its very cool to see they sponsored this video. I currently dont have a car, and I've been ubering to and from work. I've been trying to find an accord v6, and they are all terrible condition. You really hit a jackpot with this one. Not to mention the tasteful mods being applied. It is truly going to be an amazing daily for you! I recommend the 3.7 intake manifold and Throttle body. Will help with some power gains and better mpg, plus they look better.
Maybe consider Acura options, there will obviously be turds but there will be some diamonds in the rough, potentially a TSX or TL might fit the bill for you

Yup, the tie rod ends will do it. I replaced all my mounts and *still* had this vibration under acceleration from 50-65, which I thought was transmission mounts being old. It was improved by replacing them, but not 100% gone. Just got new inner and outer tie rod ends, and now it's gone.
Engine mount inserts will help the 0-60 and handling so much you wouldn't believe! And those acellera phi tyres are proper nasty, budget tyres, I wouldn't expect better traction
Tyre fitter here. Accelera tyres are among the worst tyres I ever laid my eyes on. Even the entry-level Continentals would do a better job. I know, budget matters, but one thing the car owner should NEVER skimp on, that's tyres. They are the only thing touching the road and they are the ULTIMATE determiners of your cars performance in every category: acceleration, braking, handling, road noise. Also if overall weight of the wheel assembly (rim, tyre, balancing weight, centre-bore locating ring) is bigger than factory wheels (Accelera tyres aren't the lightest things out there and can offset weight saving of the rotary-forged rims), it'll blunt your acceleration. Finally, the front-wheel-drive car needs softer front springs and dampers to make the front squat down more on acceleration and force tyres into the road. Love everything else you've done to the car.
God this series brings me back to the 2000s, slowly building up your car week by week. I'm a corpo office drone now, and this makes me want to go out and buy a 20 year old Honda 😅
I see a lot of comments about the choice of tires, and while I personally wouldn't go with the Acceleras specifically, I think throwing the idea of a UHP all season completely out the window with them is a bit silly, you're building a daily driver, not a track weapon, it's understood that you want SOME comfort, relative low road noise, and reasonable replacement cost. Personally I'd vouch for the Continental ExtremeContact DWS06+ model (or the Cont ControlContact SRS+ model if you have an America's Tire close to you) as a good do it all tire with a reasonable tread life for the grip/cost.
I'd even go as far as to say this should be higher up on the priority list than the brake upgrade, simply using higher grade pads and fluid will be enough unless you're genuinely running into brake fade on the street, at which point just means you're driving like an insane person.
I bought a 2007 Hyundai Tucson V6 4x4 and part of the basic steering wheel plastic was damaged. I ordered on ebay a leather wrap for the steering wheel, similar to what you added to your accord. My Tucson was blue and the stitching I got for mine was a very similar blue... The Stitching... Yup... Huge slow time consuming pain in the ass that is. Took me like 5 hours. But it made the wheel so much more comfortable and fixed it's visible and feel issues. Besides that, that is one gorgeous looking accord. Just an amazing car. (Unlike my Tucson... which while being reliable, the only way it could have been cool is if could have been optioned with the 6MT of the Tiburon)
Man you are making me miss my old 6-6, had a 2006 silver coupe back in college. Broken AC and the head unit didn't work at all (very common apparently), sold if before I really knew how to work on things sadly
I think all of the parts add it makes it like a lot better add a tasteful. The steering wheel cover looks good I don't know how it looks in person but on video looked really nice
First, Love how the accord in coming along. I also own an accord, a 95 coupe. Mountain biking is my second biggest passion after and sometimes before cars. Oh and also live in GA. If you decide to make mountain biking content, I'm down to watch.
you should put some red seatbelts in. kinda like the trd camry has. i think itll contrast very well with the red honda logos, and red konig center caps.
Honestly should habe kept the front softer than the rear. Would allow it to squat more in the front with less weight transfer to the rear. Would have a much better launch and imo woukd ride even better.
sooooo, by this same logic with the same title on the fit, does that mean that you'll eventually retire the accord and move along to the next daily that gets modded beyond and ruined? quality of life improvements tend to not ruin projects, but they certainly aren't as much fun as power adders etc.
You’d be better off doing 2nd gear launches. The J’s have plenty of torque to pull you through into third. You’re Almost running into 40 just in first gear. Nice little 3500 rpm launch in 2nd and I bet you’ll drop a full second off that time
Loving this build! When you blow out the ball joints on the TruHarts please be sure to share with us what you do for a replacement. Mine lasted ~6k miles.

I have a 16 V6 coupe , auto unfortunately but always enjoyed these cars, nice content man 👌
V6 manual accord is an underrated gem from honda 😍
I can't wait to see your new daily in a few months lol this thing looks so good, you're making me want one!
Koings are amazing got a set on my 07 civic coupe, nicest wheels I've ever had
I think all of the parts add it makes it like a lot better add a tasteful. The steering wheel cover looks good I don't know how it looks in person but on video looked really nice
First, Love how the accord in coming along. I also own an accord, a 95 coupe. Mountain biking is my second biggest passion after and sometimes before cars. Oh and also live in GA. If you decide to make mountain biking content, I'm down to watch.
Love the vids, happy to see more of bikes in the future vids, maybe a small road trip vid like mcm style
I had the same fender roller and I cut the square tube so it was shorter and it worked great with just that extra ½"
Drilling out *that* set screw on the rotors is so relatable xD
you should put some red seatbelts in. kinda like the trd camry has. i think itll contrast very well with the red honda logos, and red konig center caps.
Luv the look of this generation accord, especially from the rear
Honestly should habe kept the front softer than the rear. Would allow it to squat more in the front with less weight transfer to the rear. Would have a much better launch and imo woukd ride even better.
Replace the lower control arms with superpro lowers. All polyurethane bushing including the compliance bushings. It will help with the grip issue.
sooooo, by this same logic with the same title on the fit, does that mean that you'll eventually retire the accord and move along to the next daily that gets modded beyond and ruined? quality of life improvements tend to not ruin projects, but they certainly aren't as much fun as power adders etc.
You’d be better off doing 2nd gear launches. The J’s have plenty of torque to pull you through into third. You’re Almost running into 40 just in first gear. Nice little 3500 rpm launch in 2nd and I bet you’ll drop a full second off that time
my hypothesis was right! cold tires lol
Preloading suspension with the e brake would definetly help with the launch
Loving this build! When you blow out the ball joints on the TruHarts please be sure to share with us what you do for a replacement. Mine lasted ~6k miles.
