  • At the Forrestburn Hillclimb, on the first day of a two day event, Stuart Mather's 600cc Jedi single seater race car suffered a broken output shaft on its chain drive differential.
The Jedi's chain drive is based on a classic Mini's limited slip differential and used 10 spline LSD output shafts. Luckily I had a new pair of output shafts however these needed to be modified to suit the wide bearings fitted to the differential. I repaired the differential overnight and it was refitted to the Jedi on the Sunday morning which allowed Stuart Mather and Gary Warren to compete. Gary's usual Empire 1100 single seater was out of action after an accident at the Shelsley Walsh hillclimb a couple of weeks ago. However he managed a very respectable 48.15 seconds in the little Jedi. (His Empire has gone up Forrestburn in 41.59 seconds) I suspect that the 48 second run may be a record for a 600cc car (no separate class for 600 cars).
