Mmmm.... I have I question you the said the intercostal nerve is motor nerve but I think it both of them sensory and motor nerve because the intercostal nerve is the part of the somatic nerve system so it's control the muscles and also provide a sensory information regarding the skin and parietal pluera.
Also u are so good in simplified the hard things

Thank you very much for your note. I am not sure if I mentioned it is purely motor. Intercostal nerves are mixed they supply thoracoabdominal muscles as well as skin of thoracoabdominal wall.
