I like you bringing up how the difficulty never let up, even with no-name NPCs on routes. There's an idea with game design where there should be a break from the high-octane moments to let you relax your mind for the next one. In an action game like L4D2, the levels are designed to have areas of walking and scavenging in between the fights, to the point where the Cold Stream campaign is considered bad because it gives you no break between the action. In RPGs, they give you a break by having you fight weaker opponents or go through the story in order to let you relax before the next meaningful big fight. But when every fight is as difficult as it can be, it gets VERY exhausting, and running back to the pokemon center isn't relaxing, it's just annoying. Speaking as someone who beat the previous version of rad red, which had different teams as it hadn't included gen 9 mons yet, i feel like besides the elite four it was incredibly fair with the challenege. Sure it was difficult but i never had to resort to heal stalling to win, even if i did abuse save states during the elite four. That being said even then, i realize that it was just a legitamate skill issue on my end for being unable to formulate strats to beat competitive uber teams with the vast amount of resources the game gives you by that point. I feel like if you boot up rad red expecting something along the lines of main series pokemon then complain when the hack designed for competitive players and nuzlockers to enjoy is difficult, that's entirely a you issue and doesn't speak to the quality of the hack and how well/badly the battles are designed.
Bro even if you change the difficulty its still cheats not difficulty cheat clearly putting you at a disadvantage if i have 5 level 25 and he only got 3 level 15s theres no way im losing that but radical red if you dont do it by the book your losing it ridiculous and the shame because the story seemed promising
2:48 Looking at your Skarmory's moveset, assuming you had more Pokemon in the back to also use, I think the idea would likely be to use Skarmory's Sturdy to set up Stealth Rocks, then take out the lead Shedinja in two hits using the other party members. Once the Focus Sash lead is down, every other Shedinja sent in will instantly faint to Stealth Rocks.
That's the idea. There's one of them with Heavy-Duty Boots IIRC, but most of them drop like a punk to SR. I think you need to use a different rock setter with Sturdy+Rocky Helmet to take out a Sashed Shedinja.
@@DoctorSpacebar Ah, so you take out the Sash'd lead with Rocky Helmet, then I assume it's the final Shedinja that has the Boots that you would then just smack manually to finish off the battle.
I choose the max difficulty but made it not a nuzlocke and i made new team for each gym and my team was chien-pao ,snorlax ,wobbuffet, metagross, dragapult, lucario
See, this is the sort of Romhack that makes me stay away from any modern Pokémon Romhack, because a lot of them are difficulty based like this one and I don't want to grind or learn competitive battling in order to play through a Romhack of all things. Can't we just have a hack with these modern features that doesn't take days to grind through?
Difficulty hacks dont have to be like that, drayano hacks are good even if older hacks have ass moments, renegade platinum made me quit pokemon because i got my fill, if you do everything leading to an area you'll be good enough with decent plans. Maybe still harder then most but still the grinding isn't that bad in the encounter expansion hacks because you'll usually find the rare mon thats on every route and get something real good.
@@ScipiotheAfricanus He did use Easy Mode eventually, but he still struggled at several points... I honestly didn't know there was a minimal grinding option though.
"How bad is Hardcore difficulty?" As someone who played through a Hardcore difficulty LC run back in the Gen 8 days, it is straight-up BS. Boosting moves and abilities (outside edge cases like Rototiller... I never used Rototiller) and any weather or terrain setting moves and abilities aren't allowed, a lot of lines lose access to some status moves, you can't find Egg Moves with the Dexnav, bosses with field effects... It's a mess. For a hack like this, the best way to approach it really is like a puzzle game. That's how I eventually viewed my HC LC run. (Notably, I did end up heal-stalling Primal Dialga with an Eviolite Shellos using Rest, Recover, Counter and Mirror Coat. Took me a lot, but wasn't near as bad as Lorelei.) I also really wish there was a way I could go on Showdown and use some of the rebalanced mons, Corsola with Salt Cure was amazing, and they gave my all time favorite Golurk Headlong Rush and **Rage Fist!** (And Rock Polish, which Gen 8 took from it for some reason.) EDIT: Good Lord, a few of the comments when sorting by Newest are bordering on Reddit levels of cringe. Sorry you had to have that in your notifications.
I've been playing it in easy mode and it's a fun time tbh. It still was harder than a regular pokemon game tho lol (not that I mind that, I feel like modern pokemon games are way too easy instead)
Tho I've been playing by catching most Pokémon on most routes, thus giving me a break from the harder stuff, and by doing a lot of the optional fights that give you QoL stuff.
@@thebestworst8002If you interact with the console in the player's room, you can type in 'Woyaopp', and the kid in the tall grass will give you a limitless number of rare candy and Pomeg Berries. There are four other codes if you want to know.
@@yourdemiseishere that’s the fun of it TBH. Spending an hour either banging your head against the wall until a plan works or looking at docs and creating a master plan to defeat the enemy. Eventually you’ll find that perfect sequence that just works and it’s very euphoric and satisfying when you win
This is a version of play where you need a calculator AND the docs open, it's a puzzle game not an adventure game, know everything before going in and see if your plan will work. If you like that, you'll love it with restrictions on you and even in normal mode enemy mons gets extremely unfair and starting with weathers you cant make go away, falkner having extremely hard baby mons with comp items and all you get is a scanner to find some mons you'd want with good ivs. Also RadicalRed reads your inputs so no cheesing it pokemon is too easy!!
I enjoy it for that, the difficulty for me isn't that you need to grind (There are in-game cheats for getting rare candies), for a person like me, it isn't like knowing calls, it's about knowing what works.
It's just frustrating when a lot of difficulty hacks are touted as the best of the best, because they really aren't. For casual players, hacks like this are easily among the worst on offer despite their immense popularity, so I wish my search for the best ROM Hacks weren't met with top results of Radical Red and Renegade Platinum.
Its a pretty bad puzzle game then. If you need team docs and a calculator, then the game should have those. External resources are never an excuse for poor game design.
Rom hackers when you tell them that giving each trainer full teams of legendaries, mythicals, etc. makes no sense lorewise or gameplaywise: (they are unable to process the concept of anything other than "Main series easy make fangame literally impossible")
Oh no, i'm fine with it being difficult since that's the point, but it seems like every difficulty hacker ever forgot that you can make difficult and challenging fights without every trainer having 6 Eternamax Eternatus
I understand that this rom isn't for everyone but trying to nuzlocke it at your early attempts is basically impossible. You have to know every encounter in every route to properly create a team and this game is really meant as a comp experience as ingame playthrough. Thats how i see tha game. Also the sedinja loss was stupid you could just look through the moves of the pokemon and create the perfect team which will always win which just kindof show your team building incompetence(no hate). Yes some battles are immensly hard but that is balanced by the pokemon you have acess to which you could replace easily(though it is still time consuming which i hate). The maraowak fight was bullshit. The rematches were also optional is the earlier version as i remember
I didn't see anything wrong with it other than not having a full team of 6 for most of it and not leveling your pokemon like a regular play through. It's already known this version is incredibly difficult to run through with any kind of nuzzlocke rules, yet you're complaining that you stuck with the first pokemon you caught and struggled?
The game is advertised as a difficulty hack. If you enjoy difficult pokemon games, this game has great mechanics and great presentation and is pretty fun. Clearly you don't want to play difficulty hacks, so why play them and get upset? The game wasn't made for you
In all honesty, it seems like this hack is the modern gold standard for Pokemon hacks which is EXTREMELY BAD for anyone who isn't a hardcore competitive Pokemon content creator, because for anyone who isn't like that, this is an absurdly difficult, unfair, and unfun game
it's a poorly designed game, difficult or not. having constant high-octane difficult battles throughout the entire game makes for a poor experience that's just a straight line of annoyance.
@@Iggy_Dogg Idk man, its a difficulty hack so you'd expect it to be difficult. If it's not for you don't play it but it's not like it's not advertised as a difficulty hack
Radical Red is far from the best rom hack. It’s just fire Red but harder. It could’ve been a lot more interesting but it really isn’t. A lot of teams are just Uber spamming, meaning using your favourite pokemon isn’t really an option, you gotta use competitively viable mons.
I don't really get a lot of the comments here. Why were you playing it in the first place if you don't like hard games? RR has never been a game known for its story like other rom hacks, it was literally designed to be a challenge. I like the game because I'm a competitive player and I like finding new ways around problems. If that's something you're not into, no one is forcing you to play it. Don't complain about how it's "too hard" when you're not the target audience, because it's not the game's fault.
Bro just a suggestion. Try to access the docs and you can enjoy it a lot. You get a lot of options and almost every Pokemon. Also, after nugget bridge you get a Pokerider which is essentially fly. You do not need Fly HM in this rom hack
Why should you need to read a guide to have fun in a game? Like, games should be designed so that you have the most fun when you don’t have to read supplemental sources.
@@AedraRising I am not saying it in a negative light but each game has a different purpose. Baseline games are made so that everyone enjoys playing with their favourite mons and there is no harm in that. These kind of romhacks are purposefully designed to be hard so that the victory is that much sweeter. To each their own. We are free to enjoy whatever games we like but it also depends on what we are looking for. Peace ✌️
@@ArunKumar-xm5nfI don't think the difficulty is the issue. The bigger issue is that any game should be enjoyable on its own. If you're expected to look up fights and plan counters, there needs to be an in game way to do that. If you need external resources that aren't explicitly part of the game, the game has failed to properly equip the players, and its unfair. At this point, it essentially works as a puzzle game, and puzzles are no fun if you just google solutions. I'd also argue that the intense difficulty actually detracts from the satisfaction of victory. Yes, a hard won fight can be very rewarding. But if EVERY fight is super hard, then there's no sense of interest in important fights. Why should I care about Giovanni getting Mewtwo when random kids have legendaries? Why is the champion special if every trainer is on this intense level? Even big soulslike titles understand that you need breaks in the action to breathe, or the big moments will become monotonous slogs.
I really wasn't interested in this Rom Hack, and now I think there's even less of a chance I play it, not because it's harder, but because that level of difficulty I saw on this video just seems unbalanced, unfair, and just a lot of random hard Tauros sh*t thrown at the player No, it's not to hate on anyone who thinks that's funny, but I don't like the idea of playing a game with no good difficult scaling design and such
Man, i hate rom hacks as well. The creater of the Sinnoh asaid that i picked the worst Pokemon, & he decides to do the things he wanted. & Man, i lost respect to the creator of the rom hack!
A lot of people don't build their team from the very start of the game and like to slowly build it up over time. Usually that doesn't cause any problems. That evidently isn't the case here.
because they like the QoL aspect of the game. people have the right to want those enhancements, but they can't find them in games that aren't geared to competitive players and it's _completely_ understandable that they feel disappointment because these difficulty hacks are the only types of games being suggested to them. you're complaining, too. suck it up.
This is the type of guy that you can give a shovel, pick axe, and a spear to dig a hole and he'll still act like its impossible. Like seriously your complaining about the game being too hard on easy mode while refusing to have a full team or leveling up and not using any of the games features to catch new pokemon
this comment section shows way more how the game is over hated than overrated. No it's not *the* best fangame ever, it's just a good challenge, and if you try to play with its gimmicks you can find fun in the various different ways to play. If you don't like the difficulty play something else, but don't be the 200th person spitting on the game, you're just making your side of the argument look ridiculous.
I think the people complaining about this game (and just most difficulty Rom hacks in generel) are just fans that will only play the mainline games Which are targeted towards KIDS and then get surprised when fan games don't want their games to be beaten by literal children
@@TerraQuake1they're specifically speaking about difficulty rom hacks, not rom hacks in general. Why would you play a difficulty rom hack and then complain that it's difficult. It doesn't make any sense.

Radical red has an easy mode, and also a minimal grinding mode that can be combined, it also allows u to cheat if it's too difficult for u
@@ScipiotheAfricanus He did use Easy Mode eventually, but he still struggled at several points... I honestly didn't know there was a minimal grinding option though.
@@ScipiotheAfricanus Eh it's still a different kind of games then most hacks.
Took me a lot, but wasn't near as bad as Lorelei.)
I also really wish there was a way I could go on Showdown and use some of the rebalanced mons, Corsola with Salt Cure was amazing, and they gave my all time favorite Golurk Headlong Rush and **Rage Fist!** (And Rock Polish, which Gen 8 took from it for some reason.)
EDIT: Good Lord, a few of the comments when sorting by Newest are bordering on Reddit levels of cringe.
Still romhacks maker should understand
Extremely difficult doesn’t equal fun
More difficulty means more grinding
A lot of difficulty hackers encourage hacking in rare candies and play with level caps. These games become so much better when you do that
No it's another way of play, a puzzle game where you look at the docs and prep before hand and have every turn planned out basically.
@@thebestworst8002 Yeah it's different ways of play, i think that way is extremely lame and dumb and against the game, but it's valid.
@@berylredburrow__8810 No, that's the point and ive had friends just play through it normally idk if it's based on min-grinding mode or otherwise.
If you want a good rom hack, emerald seaglass.. its gen 3 with amazing art, trust bro
Rom hackers when you tell them that giving each trainer full teams of legendaries, mythicals, etc. makes no sense lorewise or gameplaywise: (they are unable to process the concept of anything other than "Main series easy make fangame literally impossible")
Full legend teams are a end game thing on normal, there is a easy mode for you either way if u find normal too difficult, and a minimal grinding mode
Oh no, i'm fine with it being difficult since that's the point, but it seems like every difficulty hacker ever forgot that you can make difficult and challenging fights without every trainer having 6 Eternamax Eternatus
I can agree
I've played this and man... I didn't enjoy it at all, I'm sorry but, I find it a bit overrated Radical Red
Truly the Dark Souls of pokemon games
-IGN
That’s a great way to put it 😂
No the fear and hunger of pokemon
The game wasn't made for you
But hey you beat the whole game so GG I can't really fault you
In all honesty, it seems like this hack is the modern gold standard for Pokemon hacks which is EXTREMELY BAD for anyone who isn't a hardcore competitive Pokemon content creator, because for anyone who isn't like that, this is an absurdly difficult, unfair, and unfun game
it's a poorly designed game, difficult or not. having constant high-octane difficult battles throughout the entire game makes for a poor experience that's just a straight line of annoyance.
They buffed Weaker Pokemon tho
I loved Adaptability furret
They gave a ton of buffs to weaker pokemon. I beat Bruno with Fur Coat Walrein of all things.
To many the challenge here is more of an artificial grind than any real strategy or attempt to properly balance the game (that’s what other say)
I prefer renegade platinum for a kinda difficult rom hack, it has some needed changes but not this
Bro just a suggestion.
Peace ✌️
@@AedraRising There is an easy mode that is still quite enjoyable....
@@TheKiddingStar HE PLAYED IT ON EASY
Wow. The shedinja fight at the start isnt hard at all. All you have to do is set spikes and then Ko the first shedinja. What a terrible take.
Like its not even hard the game is flatout cheating
This romhack would be amazing if it wasn't painfully difficult
Bro
This is a DIFFICULTY ROM hack
Where do you get exp share to level up all parties in this game?
I really wasn't interested in this Rom Hack, and now I think there's even less of a chance I play it, not because it's harder, but because that level of difficulty I saw on this video just seems unbalanced, unfair, and just a lot of random hard Tauros sh*t thrown at the player
No, it's not to hate on anyone who thinks that's funny, but I don't like the idea of playing a game with no good difficult scaling design and such
I know i would be very mad at this game and want to quit but i think the challengeould be fun to play with for me
You should try pokemon quezal it's a good rom hack ❤
I’ll take a look at it!
Quetzel has potential to be good. It needs more time. I'd give it 2 more years for more new features
It is SheDinja, not SheNinja 😮💨
The best is unbound lmfao 😂😂 hard don’t make a game better and unbound does the justice of allowing you to play easy or competitive and just great
where did giovanni get the megastone for mewtwo? lole
Ikr!
Man, i hate rom hacks as well. The creater of the Sinnoh asaid that i picked the worst Pokemon, & he decides to do the things he wanted. & Man, i lost respect to the creator of the rom hack!
Why did u go thru half the game without a full team? It seems like u made it a harder experience all by yourself
A lot of people don't build their team from the very start of the game and like to slowly build it up over time. Usually that doesn't cause any problems. That evidently isn't the case here.
GG ❤
Good
I love how most of the Comments are people going "oh it too hard 😭 I don't like" yea it's a FUCKING Difficulty Rom, what'd you expect
because they like the QoL aspect of the game. people have the right to want those enhancements, but they can't find them in games that aren't geared to competitive players and it's _completely_ understandable that they feel disappointment because these difficulty hacks are the only types of games being suggested to them.
you're complaining, too. suck it up.
good game design? too much to ask for I ask
There's a difference between difficulty and just straight-up poor game balancing.
