I agree, I like the AR charging handle just fine and have never had any problems with it. But in my opinion, the ACR's is better. It's easier and more convenient to operate the bolt with the charging handle up front.

Even though traditional rifles (such as an AK or an AR15) have a special place in my heart, I must admit I really like these new designs, like the Bushmaster ACR or the FN SCAR rifles. (Although the tanned look fits the SCAR better in my opinion.) They seem to be pretty neat and modern, it's too bad they're pricey as hell, too.
Man I wish I could hold (and fire) one of these. Beautiful.

Was looking at getting an acr and car across this video. Wow, how you and your channel have come a long way! Thanks Matt for all of the great work you do on these. I watched your vids through some of the roughest times in my life and they always made me smile and laugh. I love guns and shooting and have ever since childhood. I am in the autism spectrum and have very limited interests, well made guns being the biggest love. Someday I will have an acr and would like to meet you. I agree with both of you on this one. The M4 is a good rifle but the small things the ACR could really help a military member come back home. Like he said do you want cost friendly or performance. It's a even argument both ways.

***** Economy of scale, if they adopted it as a standard rifle, the costs per rifle will come down.
As an infantryman I can say that say that adding more weight to a weapon, especially to the front end as the piston system tends to do, sucks. However the ACR and FN SCAR take many of the modifications and addons that have been crafted for the AR-15 (ambi mods, BAD levers, etc...) and streamlined them by incorporating them into the base design of the weapon.
The use of piston operated function or Boron coated "perma lube" BCGs allows a soldier to fire for extended periods without worrying about the heat of his weapon vaporizing vital lubrucants. Or god forbid we should fight in a desert where all forms of liquid lubricant attract mountains of function impairing damaging dust.
On other forums I have heard people complain that the controls on the ACR are blocky and obtrusive, I consider this a good thing. When you're faceing a threat and the adenaline hits, the first thing you lose is fine motor control and a close second is tactile feel. Suddenly that little bolt catch/release lever that you've deftly hit a million times will become nearly impossible to find by touch. Sure you could just look down at your weapon and guide your hand by sight, but in that instant you are blind to your surrounding environment. Also having to move my face in order to operate the charging handle can be a bit inconvenient.
All in all I feel that the drastic improvements brought by the ACR and SCAR weapon systems are more than worth the added weight.

I buy shells there all the time I've bought four 100 shell boxes (just got a shotgun a few weeks ago) and I've had maybe like 3 times they haven't fully ejected out as I'm shooting clays... nothing wrong with walmart ammo... now idk about any other ammo I'm planning on getting an AR soon and would probably try it out

Well that's what Bushmaster was going for when they designed it, they wanted it to replace the M16/M4 platform with the Army. They wanted to take the contract away from Colt but the military decided not to change over. Btw I wanted to say this video was great I love the different views and the on the move shots. If it had cost $1000, it would have been a pretty good hit. But at $2000-$2500 and up, it is DOA.

Come to find out there is a budget model called the ACR Basic, which can be had for roughly $15-1600 USD New.
How about that? They listened and got wise.
Sometimes you can find them for 1600-1700 for the enhanced model. I want to get it but it has almost no aftermarket support and if it breaks or something it's going to be a bitch to get it fixed.
Check budsgunshop wbesite. They have a couple for around 12-14000-ish I believe...

n300zx93 You got a bullpup? I'm picking up my first ACR this friday. I would get a tavor but the bullpup design doesn't feel right for me. I'm 6'3" and it looks like it wouldn't fit me right. ACR has an adjustable stock, which is 1 reason I chose it.

My ARs must all be broken because they all cycle Tula just fine.
It wasn't a cycling issue, it was a bad round. The primer was struck "hard enough" (by the looks of it), and it still did not fire.
BS excuse; a misfire is a misfire. My brother had an AR that was "picky" with what it would shoot. My AR eats everything that I put into it. I've shot well over 500 rounds of TulAmmo through mine-not one malfunction. It loves Perfecta and AE just as much.

He started the video by saying that he had over a thousand rounds through it, I'm guessing Tula. You saw the struck primer. It was ABSOLUTELY hit "hard enough". Cheap ammo can and will eventually have an issue. This was NOT a weapon failure.
Dan Of The People that could be the case but I doubt it. I've fired over 1,000 rounds steel TulAmmo through my Ruger 556, a $700 rifle off the shelf. I have had exactly 3 malfunctions and it was because my bolt wasn't lubricated. Again some ARs are "picky", mine isn't. Why would I pay twice as much for something that shoots half the ammo I am able to put through it? I'm not trying to be a smart ass, only posting my personal observations.
Dan Of The People perhaps that was the issue, if he didn't clean it after 1,000 rounds of ANY ammo that could happen. When you bring that dirty TulAmmo into the mix... Oh boy! I'm curious, have you ever tried "Perfecta". Used to be able to buy it at Walmart for $15 for 50 rounds. It was more accurate than my American/Federal Eagles.

I know from taking Hunter's Safety (in Colorado) that shooting game from within, on, or over a vehicle is illegal. I assume that this was filmed on private property outside of any city limits and the scenario/demonstration did not involve hunting so it wasn't subject to that law (if applicable in your state). Personal defense situation maybe?
Question: are there any "precautions/preparations" that you take before filming?
E.x.: Notifying "neighbors/police" or surveying the area? DRY FIRE run or something? *noticed the houses in the 50bmg sound video.

Excellent video. I like your ACR. But you are right. Way too expensive for a plastic bodied rifle. Still waiting for the ACR in the AK round. Probably just a wet dream.
The Beretta ARX in 7.62x39 will be the king. Or perhaps the IWI ACE rifle in the x39 Caliber. I paid $2400.00 for my FN SCAR four years ago. The 5.56 caliber is too much of a weak round. I sold five of my rifles in that caliber. I only use the following calibers: .45 auto,.40 cal., 12 gauge, 6.8 SPC, and 7.62x39.

I'm a big fan of the ACR, been following the development of it since it was the Magpul Masada and finally got a chance to shoot it recently. It's a great weapon and I'm glad to see another shooter with the same opinion.
That said, looks like it's time to work on your immediate action drill...ID as FTF (or Pop-No-Kick, also a possibility with poor-quality ammo, and an important distinction too) and problem solve it! Other than that, keep up the good work.

Note that in Canada these can be bought non restricted and can be shot off a gun Range unlike an AR 15. Despite it being expensive it is still cheaper than assembling a non restricted upper like the ones available from Maccabee defense.
