yeah. I knew the answer before I asked the question. women make up about 26% of directors on tv and I think in the same category for movies. the obvious answer is it makes no difference, but its kinda a discussion in Hollywood and so it is a relevant question:)
She also said that what you choose to write or put on a 30’ screen tells the audience what is important and that she wanted to make the lives of girls and women important and 30’ tall and shot on celluloid. It says your lives matter. I always admire how genuine, thoughtful, specific, and sometimes surprising her answers are in interviews
Love Greta gerwig. Using gender to describe the characterization of a person man or woman is ridiculous and needs to stop. Great Interview by the way,so excited for this movie.kinda want to read the book first.
The idea of "women telling different stories than men" just isn't true. Lynne Ramsay tells very different stories from Greta Gerwig. kathryn Bigelow tells very different stories from Sofia Coppola. Directors are directors - regardless of gender. All it comes down to is skill and visualisation. But great interview otherwise
totally agree with you! asked the question so she could correct me. sometimes you have to say something to elicit the reply you want to demonstrate. thanks for making the point. people direct whatever. regardless of gender;)
This is true but they do bring their experience as women to the table on some level . They may be able to make any type of film gender doesnt limit you but it does influence you a bit and representation does matter.
Um. sorry, I'm not sure what you mean. Emma is part of the cast which is filled with talent that could be seen as the next generation of heavy weights ( as noted by critics)
What a stupid thing to get angry about. You don't know what's happening, you don't know these people. And why is Greta getting your hate and not just Noah (even though hating him would be stupid as well)?
This is an incredibly overrated director. Lady Bird was the shit of the earth. And this will be no different. It's not an original concept. Even though she sucks at those too.
Great interview! Greta is such a legend. She has a very long career in-front of her.
agree. she is also really positive. lovely to chat with her
"We don't ask men about their gender"
Proceeds to ask a woman about gender.
Response: "Gender really doesn't matter"
Well played Greta.

thanks for watching and commenting
Lost all respect for her when she had an affair with Noah Baumbach when Jennifer Jason Leigh was very pregnant. Gross.
watch Marriage Story (interviews with Scarlett and adam here. also with Noah)
you don't know these people personally. Don't judge without knowing anything but gossip.
What a stupid thing to get angry about. You don't know what's happening, you don't know these people. And why is Greta getting your hate and not just Noah (even though hating him would be stupid as well)?
@@ClaireYunFarronXIII It's common knowledge. And Noah gets my hate too. They're both selfish.
