'Dirt' number 1 easily, classic singles, classic album, classic artwork. Best of the best, no doubt. Spot on with the ranking. Very good video Mr Boulder 😎🤘
Great stuff, Alice in Chains was always my favourite of the grunge big 4. I must say I love the Jar of Flies EP almost as much as Dirt. It'd be cool to see you do a ranking of the big 4's biggest/best albums - Nevermind, Ten, Dirt and Superunknown.
The Jar of Flies EP is absolutely amazing. That's a great idea about doing a ranking of the big album's, I'll get that done at some point, although i would probably swap out Superunknown for Badmotorfinger
Dirt and Mad season's above are my favorite albums. Great rankings and I totally agree with you on The devil put dinosaurs here. I had the exact same experience and I now listen to it every day.
Yeah Devil is an album I really didn't appreciate at the time of release, absolutely love it now. I need to give Mad Season another listen. Thanks for watching and commenting 👌
Too close to call which is my favourite , Facelift & Dirt are so close , if I had to break the tie I’d go Facelift because Sea Of Sorrow is my overall favourite AIC song ! Good one James 🤘
Hard to choose a #1 between Dirt and Facelift. Both are incredible. I need to listen to that The Devil put Dinosaurs Here album. It's been a long time, but I remember enjoying it.
I picked up Dirt just a few days ago on CD. Have yet to listen to it and have never heard an entire Alice In Chains album so can’t judge the ranking much but always nice to see your opinion James. It was a friend that convinced me to buy it since I am not a big grunge guy and it seems like this was the right one to begin with. Hope it delivers 🤘🏼. Cheers! 🍺
Dirt is my favorite album of all time right now. Every song is just fantastic and Layne has such an amazing voice. An amazing vocalist gone to soon. I'm lucky to have dirt on vinyl, with a 2013 repress. Seems like they can't be found anywhere anymore
It certainly is a masterpiece, just a phenomenal record that's perfect in ever way. Yeahbi couldn't grab my vinyl copy fast enough when I saw it on the shelf. Thanks for watching 🙂
Cool vid James, tbh the only one I like is dirt, the rest I can do without, saying that I really like the unplugged show bands from the era for me seem to be better acoustically. Take care mate have a great week.
I would probably just swap self titled and dinosaurs position and that would be more or less my picks. I think self titled is quite an unusual album but I find it quite an interesting listen. Hope it gets reissued!
Good ranking Mr. B. Agree that they don't have a bad album. Face lift is probably my No 1. It took me years to get into them, mainly because I ignored them because of the grunge tag, but for me they are a metal band. Their unplugged set is ace as well. 🤘🤘
Cant really argue with the ranking you have. Might switch two of them. Alice in Chains is one of my top five favorite bands. I like all of there albums as well. The ep's and the live unplugged album are great as well. Since the Facelift reissue was so well received i think Dirt and Tripod will get proper reissues now i hope.
Yeah the Sap and Jar of Flies EP's are fantastic, especially Jar of Flies. The Unplugged album is stunning too. All their releases are of very high quality
Indeed, not a bad album in the bunch. Difficult to rank them, because I prefer different albums at different times, but for now I'd go: 6. Rainier Fog 5. Black Gives Way To Blue 4. Facelift 3. Dirt 2. The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here 1. Alice In Chains
Great video, mate! Yes, 'Dirt' is also easily my favorite; just a brilliant, classic album with so much atmosphere that never gets old! The self-titled one isn't quite as good, but still some great tracks on it, like 'Brush Away'!
The track Black gives way to blue is utterly stunning , beautiful and tragic. Dirt for me is a masterpiece and all their discography very good , great band
Great ranking James! Definitely a band I really like, and need more from them! Can't argue with your ranking, as I need to listen to the majority of their stuff. Their self-titled album I wasn't too keen on, a few songs I liked. But overall it wasn't as good as Dirt. I absolutely love Dirt!! Defo need to check more out, nice one mate 😀🤘👍
@@mrboulder9714 Welcome mate, yeah the ST is a little too sludgy and slow for me. Just ain't my thing. Yep, it's an absolute classic too! I really should listen to it again, been a while 😀🤘🤘👍
I’d go... 1- Facelift 2- Self Tilted 3- Dirt 4- Jar of Flies 5- SAP All the post Layne albums are decent to me and I like several songs from them but it’s lacking in my opinion. The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here is probably my favorite post Layne album
Dirt is one of my favorite albums of all time. I listened to it all through college constantly. Facelift is highly underrated IMO. I agree it’s second only to Dirt. The 1995 self-titled album is also underrated IMO. Not quite as strong as the previous albums but those songs are amazing live btw. Black Gives Way to Blue is great IMO. A few songs are kinda “eh” but super strong comeback album. SAP and Jar Of Flies are the albums I used to learn how to play acoustic guitar. I think they are classics. I don’t own the two most recent albums. Maybe I’ll revisit them sometime.
My ranking 1. Dirt 2. Jar of files 3. Facelift 4. Black gives way to Blue 5. Alice in chains 6. Mtv Unplugged 7. Rainer Frog 8. The Devil Putt Dinosaurs here 9. Sap
I've been an Alice In Chains fan from the start when i saw the Man In The Box video, i bought the album the very next day. Dirt is a masterpiece for sure and i agree also, they never made a bad record for me, i love all their albums. In my ranking i put the 2 EP's too, they're brilliant!! 8- Rainier Fog 7- Black Gives Way To Blue 6- The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here 5- Alice In Chains 4- Sap 3- Jar Of Flies 2- Facelift 1- Dirt
Huge fan of AIC. 'Dirt' had to be top dog, it's just too good. I really don't understand why the DuVall albums don't get enough credit, especially 'Black Gives Way to Blue'. Sean Kinney is a fucking genius and is as important to their sound as Cantrell or Staley, in my opinion. Loved the vid, and share your love for the band!
The only reason they are not included is because they are EP's and not album's. I love both very much, Jar of Flies is my favourite EP ever. Thanks for watching and commenting
Great list but where is Jar of Flies? I know it's technically an EP but it's definitely long enough to be considered an LP. I think Jar of Flies is right up there with Dirt and would be #2 on my list.
Don't agree that Tripod is one of Alice in Chains second to the worst album. Most of the album is very listenable with several songs that are complete gems that I listen to over and over. Still a classic!
First 2 were big albums when they came out but by around 94 I was tired of them tbh and that style is something I’ve never felt like revisiting. Good that you still enjoy them though. I think Dirt is slightly stronger than Facelift.
@@mrboulder9714 yeah, hard to know where to draw the line. Should've done them as one release maybe? I could've sworn I used to have a CD with both EPs on it. Either way, great video.
