My family is Jamaican my grandmother use to make this for me all the time growing up, it's one of the things I make for my kids and it never occurred to me this was a Caribbean recipe. I share this thought because not too long ago my birth mother accussed me of not making enough traditional meals to help my kids learn about their heratage this video just taught me a lesson that I have in fact been teaching my kids a a traditional meals that one day they can pass down. Love your videos.
I made this banana fritters today for the first time and my son loved it. He gave me a big hug! I was impressed. I think everyone should have ago and try it. But I added a little bit of desicated coconut to the batter mixture.
Now Aunty Fay, I am from the Caribbean, As I sit here typing with one hand and eating my banana fritters with the other, I am soo disappointed that the batter only made 12. I had to share with 3 other people. Wait my brother just grabbed and ran with one of mine. Going to deliver a beat down and I'll be right back.
Now as I was saying , I Loved the fritters, I subscribed to youtube and on the website and guess what I saw? Jamaican stew peas and rice, pumpkin chicken soup, sweet potato pudding and the list goes on.. Now how am I suppose to keep on my diet with you making all these good ole comfort foods from way back when, with very accurate recipes. feels like i am in the kitchen with you in your videos. Fay you have a very happy subbie. :)
I haven't check your site for a few years, but here I am again checking out your recipes. Thanks for sharing your food to the world. Have a Merry Christmas.
Hi Mumma. Love ya Vibes and knowledgeable teaching styles. Even the family are just as beautiful with their characters too. Wow 😮 if only we all had such a beautiful life teacher/ mother/ guide, where the world would be. Thank you 🙏🏾
My heritage is Jamaican grandmother my mother’s side and a Barbadian grandfather. My fathers side is totally Antigen. Yes we have Cherokee on his side too.
Thank you for this easy-to-follow recipe! I found about 4-5 different recipes for banana fritters online and thus my first attempt at making them was not so successful. I definitely will be following your recipe next time!
Just so happens I got five over ripe bananas in the fridge. faith has lead me to you Fay. I always wanted to learn a proper recipe for these. Thank you. Going to try them now. :)
When I first met my husband's parents 15 years ago I was a nervous wreck but they both had such marvelously infectious personalities, Irish and Jamaican go together very nicely, that we got along perfectly and you remind me a lot of her!! I love this recipe, it's the first thing she taught me to make saying "it's so easy even a white boy can do it"!! I'm not a fan of bananas unless they're still green, in a DQ Split, my mom's banana bread OR mom-in-law's fritters. I'm glad I caught this early, we have some over-ripe bananas that I had planed to use in banana bread BUT I'll surprise hubby for breakfast!! Thanks Fay, always a treat seeing your videos!!!!!!!!!!
My Auntie used to make these allot when I was a kid for breakfast but you can eat them anytime. I used to steal these and eat them as fast as she would take them from out the frying pan. They were so delicious i just couldn't resist stealing them.
Thanks for your video. I just came across your channel. I will be trying some of your recipes. I like how you make everything very simple so that it is easy to follow. This is the only way for our foods not to be lost.
I love the recipe and its simple method; I too do not use baking powder or soda. I also love how you just use a fork to turn them over... maintains better control than a spatula. Thanx huge for sharing your way!!!! I've converted :)
Aaaah. This is one of the first dishes my late granny taught me as well! We use a slightly beaten egg to bind and a little less flour -- and raisins. We top it with sour cream. So yummy.
When I was growing up in the UK as a boy we couldn't get enough of Banana fritters, from our parents. Then when we got our pocket money some of it was used to build bicycles from scratch. The rest to buy patties if available Banana fritters if not back in the day when the Twinkle Brothers. Was very big with the tune Jahovia!
Enjoyable to watch you in your kitchen and to listen to you. More people are doing Jamaican foods but sometimes their English is very poor and difficult to understand.
Nice job!!... we make this the same.. only that i don't use any sugar...as the bananas are already over ripe, I just use the natural sweetness from banana itself.
cant believe i missed this video. im subbed to all your stuff n i never got a notice. wonder what happened. anyways these look amazingly good . i always have bananas on my counter. cant wait to try them . i let my bananas get real dark. it makes them so much sweeter . this way i use less sugar. just made 4 banana bread loafs with dark rum and pecans last week. they came out great . one of them also had shredded coconut . ty 4 sharing . so glad to see you back and happy late new years.
