I didn,t know this was a Jamaican recipe. I,m Bajan, raise making bakes with what we have, pumpkin, cassava, cornmeal or plain flour, so I add bananas for change, love it and never stop making it
I love this. I always buy more bananas than we usually eat so I have an excuse to make dis ya! Mi love it! By the way. I love you! Its like listening to my mom and mi granny tell me how to cook food with love and culture.
I just made these for my in laws and they loved them. I sprinkled confectioners sugar through a strainer ever them and my wife Is having a hard time stopping eating them. They had the consistency of delicious soft airy fried dough with bananna flavor. What more can I say but thanks for sharing your wonderful recipe. I deliberately made them all sorts of sizes and every piece was soft airy and great.
Thanks for the recipe! my pan sucked but I got the hang of it! I had 3 ripe bananas, so I did 1/2 cup white sugar, 1 cup of flour and eyeballed the rest of the ingredients. It was a tad bit thick which worried me so I added a little bit of water and they came out exactly like yours! thank you so much my family loved them!
"good exercise fi di arm dem"...so glad that i was born into a ja family!!! luv this lady voice here...remind of of bein back in brooklyn and with family....thanks fi sharin your recipe !!! ;-) mi a ga try this one ya.
I AM IN LOVE !!! with this channel. JAMAICANS ARE AWESOME !!!!! please upload some more warm, homely; deep rooted jamaican dishes like these!!!! thanks.
That looks great. Gonna use this recipe exactly. Next time, when you make something like this. Make sure that you grab one and break it open so that people can see the inside, and maybe even take a bite of one after and show it to the audience.
These are the bomb!!!! Didn't have anything to do so my 8th year daughter did this for fun. Now my 2 boys my daughter and myself are dancing :). I'm from the the VI and we say GOOD TO GO!!!! Love it, first time tried cooking by the way.
I am so happy to finally find someone who knows what they’re doing... she’s a real Jamaican cook. If anyone has tried this recipe please let me know. How it turned out.
This is what Caribbean ppl lov this came from long time ago and it is just original and has the touch of what seems to be what Caribbean grandparents making for you
alphaacad1 - try very very low heat for frying after you put dem in & always keep an eye pon you pot cos if you lef dem while doing sump ting else they will bun (turn fritters over 1mins/2mins each side) she said 3mins but as yours keep burning jus reduce timing until it's OK for you!
Maya Huton yeah I'm glad you made this comment because I'm a vegan and I don't use white flour or white sugar anymore but I do have a lot of spelt flour so I'm glad that you tried it with that and got a good result I'm also going to use natural cane sugar or coconut sugar with mine. my aunt use to make this all the time growing up.
I AM VEGAN AS WELL. I USED ORGANIC BANANAS AND THEY WERE SO SWEET SO SUGAR WASN'T EVEN NEEDED .I ALSO USED MY ORGANIC PUMPKIN SPICE WHICH HAS CINNAMON,NUTMEG,CLOVES, AND GINGER. IT WAS WONDERFUL. DATE AND COCONUT SUGAR ARE GREAT ALTERNATIVES TOO HONEYBEE.
Previewing and loving your videos. You make it clear on what to do, and I love your patois--music to my ears. I just dubbed...don't want to miss any new videos. Thanks sooo much for sharing.
Yummy ...Looks delish...We make the same recipe with over ripe plantains in Ghana...Thanks for sharing my Lady; I realize you used perfectly ripe bananas which gave your fritter a great golden color. You were also right about the baking soda and self-rising flour they are a no-no in fritter recipe.
WELL FINALLY !!! I Was trying to make corn beef and pancakes for the longest and my grandma was NOT tryna tell me the recipe over the phone !!! Yessss my tummy is happy
I am so very proud of your accomplishments. I remember when you first put this receipe on youtube. Big ups to my Jamaican sister, you make us so proud.
Banana fritters run in my family, my great grand father was from Jamaica and taught my Grandfather, who taught my dad, who taught me, I love them and your's look delicious thanks!
I just watched your video. I always remind myself of recipes when I'm about to prepare something so I jump onto RUclips regardless of whether I believe that I remember the recipe or not... Your video is on point and you walk us through so thoroughly. Kudos to you. I noticed that this banana fritters video was posted 8 years ago so I jumped into your channel to see if you're still active. I'm delighted to see that you posted a video just 2 days ago. I shouldn't be surprised because you're very professional. I also love hearing your accent! Keep up the great work, oh! I almost forgot, I've also just liked and subscribed... 👍🏿🤠
made some and they were delicious! only thing im going to try and keep in mind next time is that i need to make it thicker and also take into account how much the fritters grow once frying so i need to add small amount of the mix per fritter. thank you very much!
I love this recipe! I've made it so many times (although we do add chocolate chips, because YUM.) Thank you for posting this. It's our favorite way to use up overripe bananas.
To this day, eye still watch this when eye cook them because your talk is so inspiring! And on this day, eye have perfected them!!! Give thanks my sister! My Banana Fritters Auntie!!!🙏🏿🙏🏿💜💜💜
Okay, so I only had 5 very ripe bananas, therefore I only used 1 3/4 cups of flour (still batter was slightly thicker than what you showed. Every stove is different, and 7-8 medium high heat was too hot for my stove, plus I used a cast iron skillet. The first batch almost burned (really dark), so I turn the heat down a bit, by the last batch of 2, mine looked like the ones you made. These are pretty good, next time they will be perfect,TFS!
well we finally got it right,OMG sooooo good,we love it. It's a keeper, will do some for a next week's party. merci beaucoup madame, greeting from Las Vegas ; )
So excited to make these tomorrow morning for my boys! Thanks a bunch!! Had no idea this was a Jamaican dish, My cousin use to make these for me when I was little, she learned when she lived in Belize so I always thought it was something we Belizeans made Bc we also make conch fritters.

Alesi Voim All Caribbean West African.
Alesi Voim not at all
It depends who cook the food. But all the West has origins in Africa period. You’ll all be surprised.
