That was informative. I did wonder how you should gage whether a hood fits correctly. Dave Sharpe fitted mine for George. Then to know about the wet marks inside the hood tells a better fit should be sought. Thanks. We have had -3° ferrets are fine George in at night for now. Working well.
That’s good to hear George doing well, sounds like the weather is changing all over now , great for falconry, weight management is fast and can feed up up more which I like 👍 take care and enjoy.
Turns out I'll be getting a male Harris, some females will never work with dogs but males can more often, not a risk worth taking with pest control birds! I wanted a female but job comes first, and males are just as much fun. I'll be hunting the same quarry on similar kinds of land with the same species as you, so your videos make me excited. Woody is an awesome hawk! Hoods are so important, one of my falconry goals is to learn how to make my own. I Letting the rabbit go with no injuries helps with the rabbit population that's so shaky at the moment and teaches Woody that he'll only get a clean kill if he goes for the head.
I have been tempted to make one also, although I may never get around to it. I’m sure you will enjoy the male HH . I’m glad these videos are of benefit that makes it all worthwhile. Good luck. 👍
Amazing-Thank you. May ask for another advise? Since is much colder my Harris has much bigger appetite and flying well on higher weigh. This is not a problem- however what is concerning me- he is not casting for about 3 days. He is still very active responsive and with good apatite. His crop seems emptying well. Could be this related to lower temperatures?
A hawk in captivity fed daily should cast daily if there is casting in the food, feather and fur. Some thoughts are do you feed at the same time and fly at the same, what I mean is occasionally mine will cast whilst out hunting if I fed late and fly early, I may not see a cast. If you are not flying and fed in the morning the next day should cast, usually cast about the same time , if you have fed meat with no cast you may not see cast. Also we should feed fur or feathers as this is what cleans them out too. Hopefully this helps .
@@andrejdragic446 no iv only bought a real quality soft from a glove maker, I'm sure there are OK ones but as it's a every day thing I spent out. If you need the name let me know and I'll look at the label as I can't remember at the moment.
My male Harris gets in a right mess in the brambles too, he injured his wing one time and was out of flying for a few weeks. How are you finding leg mounting your transmitter this season? I know you lost a deck last season on a wire fence.
It’s amazing how they can hunt and the position that can get into. I’m finding the leg mount ok, no problems yet, I would prefer deck with a modified tail mount but with a deck less I’ll stick to the ankle mount. Thanks hope you have a good season.
Your so clever Pete ❤
@@LorraineJenner not really lol x

@@freebirdofreason1994 Thank you very much. Found a big cast today. You have been correct he must have casted somewhere on the tree while flying.
