Got one of these a couple of years ago right after it came back from disappearing after Ralfy made it his Whisky of the year. It is very good but subtle and delicate needing a lot of time in the glass to appreciate what is there. Cheers
Pretty sure, like the 10 its only ex bourbon matured and thats what I like about this. No re-casking, no finishing, just left alone for 15 yrs in ex-bourbon casks, then put out the way a whisky should be, natural, and a profile Glencadam are looking for (if I’m making sense?I love this whisky. Slàinte Geoff for such a positive review.👍
Thanks for the info David. Apparently that's exactly the case. And you're right- that's precisely the kind of Glencadam I'm looking for! Cheers my friend! 🥃
Trying this for the first time, there is something both down-to-earth and cerebral to this whisky. A delicate but detailed dram - like a spider's web. Very many subtle notes accompanies by clear sensations (bitter/sour); interesting stuff that I agree puts one in mind of Craigellachie 13.
Great review Geoff. I've tried Glencadam Origin 1825 Bottling. That one is an entry level 40% abv and matured in ex-bourbon and finished in Olorosso. I have been on the fence to get a bottle of 15 while availability is an issue but I may dip my toe into this one based on your review as it sounds promising.
All praise, you must have spent a lot of time as a kid at a candy shop. You reference so many confections. Love it. “I don’t know you” haha These reviews are great! Viewers rejoice. And subscribe! haha Geoff, I love that you’re able to give so much information in a concise video. Adds great value to your channel. Peace.
Thx Jeff for the review! I’m looking for the delivery of that malt tomorrow. Sounds like an awesome dram to me and I guess it will please me at the end of April. Stay safe
Usually I like mellow, balanced and delicate whisky, but in this case I choose glencadam 10yo.😆 The bright and floral character is my favorite in the 10, and what it gain and loose in the 15yo doesn't that work to me; but yes, it still is a decent whisky.
The Riserva Andalucia misstep is a bit of a Glencadam anomaly. The 10, the 15 and the 18 are my favourites. Ive a bottle of the 19 y.o. Oloroso waiting to be uncorked. Hope its nothing like the Riserva. Great review btw.
Overall it's q great brand, I agree. I've tried the standard core range, but sadly many of their special releases aren't available here. I'd be very curious about that 19 myself. Sounds like a banger! 🥃
Great review as usual. I personally think the 21 is far superior but i really like it as well. As Welsh Toro would say, this is unfortunately the kind of scotch profile that tends to get very scarce nowadays. Balblair 1997 was one of them and the new Tomatin 21 Travel Retail is a great buy as well at 99€ on german websites.
Tomatin 21? Never heard of it. I'll have to look that one up. You're right though it's a beautiful style that's not too common these days. Luckily there are a few gems to be found. 🥃
Awesome review mate & happy new year! Glencadam along with a few others are one of my favourite upcoming distilleries. Have you had the 13 YO? Nearly finished the bottle & oh god, it's awesome. Glencadam have also released a few port cask finish, which I'll have to sus out too. Make sure you pick up the Carn Mor IB Glencadam 10YO, I had that a year ago or so & that absolutely slapped knees. It was bottled around 48% and it does wonders 😀
Thanks Jimmy. I haven't tried the 13 as it's not available here in Taiwan. I've heard nothing but good things about it so far, so it's definitely on the wishlist! Haven't heard of that Carn Mor Glencadam. We may or may not have it here, so I'll have to do some scouting. Appreciate the suggestions, buddy! Cheers! 🥃
Thanks G Top review as usual 👍 Good as it is was just getting a little tired of the 10 , a bit too light and flowery and whilst no doubt the 15 will have the same vibe , by what you say , slightly bigger and bolder . Sounds good Will give it a try Personally , just at the min I’m off Smokey / peaty whisky and also really big sherry bombs ( Royal Brackla 12 Ooo No 🙈..gave it away , I know you like it 🤣) Very much into middle ground Glenturret 12/15 , Glen Garioch 17 , AcNoc 18 / 24 etc .. taste goes in cycles , as they say , I’ll be back !! But not commented on some recent stuff cos just not floated my current boat Cheers for the brill reviews 👍🥃
Hah all good Allan. We're not supposed to agree on everything, anyway! Always happy to see you pop up, though. I'm a bit off big peat and big sherry myself at the moment, actually. I seem to be into more delicate flavours these days. As you said, goes in cycles. Cheers! 🥃
A great whisky indeed! A bit more tamed than the 10 yo, which is between the firsts of my favorite whiskies despite its age. But the five years more are not wasted!
Not a bad price for a nice 15 year old but I expected something with a little more flavor. Thought it was a bit too light on the pallet I think the Loch Lomond 18 is better on the nose, pallet, presentation and also a cheaper highland whiskey.
I'm a bit salty that we don't get the Glencadam 10 or the newer LAGGs here in Sweden... I don't understand why. The Glencadam 13 and 15 is available but it's a bit pricey.
I'm pretty sure this is just ex-bourbon as it is a favourite of my good friend and whisky blogger Reb Mordechai. His religious beliefs prevent him touching sherry influenced whisky. Glencadam actually ran out of the 15 a few years back just before Ralfy selected it as his whisky of the year. That made people chase it for a while but things have settled down for Glencadam. When the 15 was out of circulation they introduced the 13 year which I really recommend you try if you haven't done so. I may even prefer it to the 15. I love ex-bourbon whisky around the 15 year mark and much as I like the 10 I think it's worth paying a little bit more if you can afford it. My one minor criticism of the 15 is the slight bitter oak note on the finish. You don't get that on the 13 or 21. It's still a great whisky though and I never regret buying a bottle. By the way, I like the 'old style' label. It's solid and reassuring like the whisky itself. We don't agree about the 21 which I think is amazing and one of the great value whiskies on the market. However, I love the review and I recently subbed. Cheers. WT
Wow very kind words! Yeah I'm definitely in the minority when it comes to the 21. It's good but for me it doesn't have the wow factor that I get with the 10 or 15. I do hope to try more from the range. The 13 has been on my wishlist for awhile, but it hasn't made it to the Taiwanese market yet. Thanks again for watching and subbing. Cheers! 🥃
Wait! At least you know me, because I declared myself your nemesis! So let me conclude this silly line of thinking: This one won't be after my fancy, too. But I'm a simple guy, I'll buy, test, report.
About noon, the postman only had to ring once. Opened, tested, wow. While it's too early to abondon the self-appointed title "nemesis", it's crumbling: This whisky is f a n t a s t i c. It tastes almost exactly like my old unpeated favorite, the Glen Scotia 15. Which, sadly enough, turned from a whisky to a new kind of element, i. e. unaffordium resp. unobtainium.
I'm pretty sure Iain Forteath, Glencadam's Global Brand Ambassador, confirmed that the 15 is entirely matured in ex-bourbon barrels when talking to Roy Aqvavitae on a video, but I can't find the actual footage at the moment...
I finally found this and the 10 at a shop in NY and they apparently don't sell very fast. This makes me happy: specs are on point, price is on point and it's a beautiful whisky. I've stocked up.
Elegant simplicity is spot on. I love how Glencadam don't get carried away with cask finishes and gimmicks. Just honest, decent whisky. Great review.
Well said! 🥃
Hi Geoff, good on you for putting up the Ukrainian flag 👍
"Trust me you are not going to be disappointed...unless you are, I don't know you" 😂😂😂 Solid Geoff!!

Hah thanks man. 100 more to go! 💪
Geoff good reviw ! I liked Glencadam 12 y.o. Cheers !

Glencadam 10 was always in my radar. There was a good offer so I ordered both 10 and the 15.
Yeah I love the delicacy and gentleness of Glencadam. Nothing quite like it. 🥃
Great review Geoff. I've tried Glencadam Origin 1825 Bottling. That one is an entry level 40% abv and matured in ex-bourbon and finished in Olorosso. Thanks for review G!
I think Glencadam is one of the great price/performance whisky. Definitely delivers what you need from a quality product
Agree! Cheers.
Another great review, it’s a shame a lot of these whiskeys aren’t easily accessible in Australia but I’ll keep an eye out for the 10
Thats too bad. Hopefully it makes its way into your market eventually. You're missing out! 🥃
I am replying 2 years later but the 10 and 15 is easy access in Sydney Oz for me

Fair enough! I do prefer the 15, but the zestiness in the 10 is magic! Love both! 🥃
Gotta get my hands of this one! Have you tried the 13YO, Reawakening? I think that's a great one.

Choose between the distilleries? Tough call. Maybe Arran...
If choice is pretty hard so take both because both are g8 stuff 🥃🙋♂️
