I just got out of the cinema and I’m extremely happy!! For me it delivered! I’m failing to see how some have been disappointed as I don’t get what they were expecting as it was everything I pictured it to be. I will watch your spoiler video and I’m interested to know why it didn’t live up to the hype for you and of course everyone is entitled to opinions. But I’m just on cloud nine that I loved it as much as I did. I was worried because I was seeing such a mix from disappointment to some saying they loved it. But it’s now my favourite of the year and I’m so so happy! It really was an extra bonus to have Kevin bacon in this. He’s been my favourite actor since I was little and I’ve seen nearly all his movies and as always he’s a scene stealer. Him and Mia have great chemistry! She’s incredible again so charismatic! I just love watching her she’s so captivating! And the scene near the end was so powerful and I love how her arc came full circle. Can’t say much here as this is your spoiler free video but it’s a solid 10 for me. Just like X and Pearl. Keep saying it but I’m so happy haha. I love when a film I’m excited for actually lives up to my hype.

Halloween Kills had “Evil dies tonight” and got so much hate. I have a blast every time I watch it. Yes, some parts are terrible but it’s still a fun ride. Horror rules, simple as. I’ll be there opening weekend!
It’s one of my favourite halloweens, except what’s with the dumb very end. Why did she go upstairs?, no explanation and then how did he get there with all the police around!. Rest of it i liked the most of the 3 latest ones.
Maxxxine was both overwhelming and underwhelming at the same time, there's a lot going on in the film and it's quite a shocker but is also predictable. Tbh the X trilogy felt like the Scream trilogy, therefore making Maxxxine the Scream 3 of this generation but actually good. 7.9/10
So excited to see this next weekend on payday! Lee I gotta say you should check out the bikeriders movie, it’s got mixed reviews but I absolutely loved it. Very reminiscent of goodfellas!
Liked Maxxxine but the final boss was cartoony. Maybe they were going for 1980s VHS campiness. X was so tight, flowed well and mostly took place during one day on a farm. This one was challenging because it was set over a longer period in much larger Hollywood.
The hardest thing for film makers to do seems to be to create a genuinely scary movie. Like genuinely. A true scary film, not a gore fest, is an art form and rare. Doesn’t even have to have a drop of blood.

Maxxxine is my most highly anticipated movie of 2024 because I’m an aspiring actress like the title character, horror movies are my favorite movie genre, the 1980’s is my favorite era of all time and I enjoyed the first two movies of this trilogy especially Pearl. Overall I liked it and felt like it was worth the wait. It does feel like West was trying to pack a lot into this one movie. Goth was excellent tho as the rest of the cast and the soundtrack and the recreation of sleazy 1985 Hollywood were on point. I didn't leave disappointed

Pearl was the best of the two films so far. I'm going to see this Wednesday night. I've been looking forward to it a lot since I'm a big giallo fan. I heard it compared to The New York Ripper though, which is one of my LEAST favorite giallos. So, we'll see.

In fact I tried watching Pearl twice and I just don’t get all the love, Mia Goth was obnoxious in Pearl and Infinity Pool. Pearl just isn’t interesting to me as a character when she loses her mystery after X. This is part of why place X as the better film. Tbh, I’m much more excited for LongLegs and rank Maika Monroe as my horror Queen of the 2010’s-2020’s.

I get a lot of early genre period Abel Ferrara from this, if you're in for a grimy, sleazy serial killer movie may I recommend 1984's Fear City, starring Tom Berenger, Billy Dee Williams and a kung fu killer murdering strippers lol

Mia looked constantly petulant or with a constipated face. No nuance to her performance. Her character not likable at all, the audience hard to warm to her. This film has so many mis steps. Why didn't she ask obvious questions to Kevin Bacon like "what does he want" or "who is he working for"? The reveal acting is hammy and terrible. This film is very weak and student like. No comparison to Argento's work that genuinely unnerves and builds suspense. Maxxxine is solid 2 out of 10.
Going to see it Friday. Going to watch X and Pearl to get ready. I agree with you on the whole movies don't have to be amazing or total crap thing. As I get some enjoyment out then I am ok. I always watch you for your input and see what you have to say.

I heard the movie is very good up until the third act where the film goes in a direction that is sort of disappointing. I've been looking forward to this, but it's disheartening to hear it didn't fully stick its landing. Still looking forward to it, but now Longlegs seems to be the horror film of the summer.
You're being kind when you say the climax wasn't up to par. It was flat out over the top and dumb as fuck lol. That cartoonishness that Bacon's character displayed bled right into the final third of this movie. Oh, and that Bacon/Goth chase scene has got to be one of the most absurd in recent memory. Yeah, because that's gonna just happen in the middle of the day on a Hollywood lot in the '80s. Some really poorly executed stuff in this film.
Sucks this didn't satisfy your great expectations. I felt the same with a few iconic characters that had great looking trailers but didn't meet expectations.
You know those 80s movies where there’s usually a stereotypical mean girl defined by how full of herself she is? For example, Kate Vernon in Pretty in Pink or Betsy Russell in Private School? That’s how Maxine comes off in the trailer and additional clips I’ve seen. Haven’t watched the movie, but this feels like they took that character from those classic 80s coming of age films and centered a horror movie around her. So, I don’t really like her character. I also think Mia Goth’s acting gets praised in these three films way too much. I’ve made the comparison of her shouting in Pearl being similar to Charlie Kelley in It’s Always Sunny but there’s something else that’s just off about it. It feels like an awkward person trying to be larger than life. I’m trying to decipher if I’m just annoyed by the over saturation of Mia in media or if the praise she gets for her performances are misguided and a symbol of something deeper in the reviewer.

I literally stopped your video to listen to Rat's "I'm Insane" . . . not bad though to short. I only knew of "Round and Round" mostly when growing up in the 80's. Hmm I'll consider going to see this one or if I'm to lazy I'll wait for the stream.

im not really a fan of these movies. watched them once "not this one yet" and just dont get it..BUT the fans seem to love them and thats cool. Maybe on another watch or 2 you might change your mind and really like this one? Who knows...Thanks Lee

Yeah definitely crime thriller/slasher.
Sounds like there's not much of a horror aspect to this one based on a lot of reviews, which is a bit of a bummer

I really liked x and I liked peal but this year I only had this at my 9th most anticipated of the year. Wow, that was an easy game of 6 Degrees of Kevin Bacon. 😉😂🤣 But seriously, Wednesday I get paid, I've watched X and Pearl, X got an A grade, Pearl A- grade from me, just so you know, so I'm very much set as soon as I'm able to make that super long trek from Parts Unknown to the theater to see Maxxxine, be good to go. I heard the movie is very good up until the third act where the film goes in a direction that is sort of disappointing. I've been looking forward to this, but it's disheartening to hear it didn't fully stick its landing. Still looking forward to it, but now Longlegs seems to be the horror film of the summer.

You're being kind when you say the climax wasn't up to par. It was flat out over the top and dumb as fuck lol. That cartoonishness that Bacon's character displayed bled right into the final third of this movie. Oh, and that Bacon/Goth chase scene has got to be one of the most absurd in recent memory. Yeah, because that's gonna just happen in the middle of the day on a Hollywood lot in the '80s. Some really poorly executed stuff in this film.

Sucks this didn't satisfy your great expectations. I felt the same with a few iconic characters that had great looking trailers but didn't meet expectations.

First half was ok 3rd act sucked it seemed to be building to something but the pay off / killer reveal was garbage definitely a big let down
You know those 80s movies where there’s usually a stereotypical mean girl defined by how full of herself she is? For example, Kate Vernon in Pretty in Pink or Betsy Russell in Private School? That’s how Maxine comes off in the trailer and additional clips I’ve seen. Haven’t watched the movie, but this feels like they took that character from those classic 80s coming of age films and centered a horror movie around her. So, I don’t really like her character. I also think Mia Goth’s acting gets praised in these three films way too much. I’ve made the comparison of her shouting in Pearl being similar to Charlie Kelley in It’s Always Sunny but there’s something else that’s just off about it. It feels like an awkward person trying to be larger than life. I’m trying to decipher if I’m just annoyed by the over saturation of Mia in media or if the praise she gets for her performances are misguided and a symbol of something deeper in the reviewer.

I love the character immensely. She doesn’t feel fake or forced.
I don’t care for this trilogy at all but I prefer the Halloween 2018 Reboot trilogy especially if you are comparing them too Lee lol 😂 brother bro 😎
