This game redefines the meaning of "Here comes the sun"
On earth you go to sun...
In outer wilds, the sun goes to you.
Oh man it would be the best Easter egg if you could find a copy of Abbey Road floating in space, and if you gave it to Gabbro or Riebeck then at the end they'd play a few notes of that song - and then Chert cuts them off with "I don't know what that is, but I do *not* appreciate it."
@@kalebmitchell8723 True, because in the game's code everything moves around you, and your character stays still.
So when you jump, the universe actually jumps downwards from you.
@@iveharzing huh, I didn't know that.
That's pretty interesting.
*gets out of Giant's Deep's atmosphere without realizing "End Times" started to play*
_Aaaaaah... After the rain comes the- OH MY GOD!_
The "true" ending gives me chills to this day.
One of my biggest gaming regrets is that I can't play this again for the first time.
Also, the DLC is amazing.
i wish i could play it but i am terrified
Try watching a Let’s Play, it brings back some of the same feelings. I recommend Playframe with Dan Floyd.
@@the_dexman it's worth conquering your fears to experience this masterpiece, seriously.
@@iveharzing i've beaten outer wilds and i love it like no other, but the DLC is a whole new level of scary.
I literally didn't explore dark bramble for the longest time because i got eaten by an anglerfish and decided there was nothing there out of fear, so the DLC dark areas are really hard to get through
@@the_dexman The DLC is super scary but also not nearly as hard as it seems at first. There are only 2 specifically scary segments and they're both very short if you take your time to know where you need to go.
I'm kind of glad that I didn't know it was a time loop game when I played it because let me tell you about how real my terror was when I lifted off from having explored the moon for the first time and the sun started exploding.
Things like that make me wish I could play the game for the first time again.
I was so confused when that happened for the first time. I wasn't even in a place where I could see the explosion, so I just died without seeing what killed me.
Same! I was like...wait...the sun wasn't that red and large before ? ....and then I remembered I read the museum entry about supernovas and went "no no no no no"
@@AdonanS yeah, I was just magically in the perfect spot to see it all happen.
I wish I hadn't known about that, oh my gods that would have made the first time so freaking amazing. XD
One of the coolest games I've ever played and it definitely does have an ending.
Yes the game has an ending I meant roasting a perfect marshmellow doesnt give you an ending lol sorry for the confusion
played it for a couple of hours and it just doesnt click. Everytime I start it up I get totally bored after 30 minutes max and find it a punishment to continue. No idea what Im doing wrong. I guess ill watch the endings on youtube or read a summary.
@@tyr0mancer423I felt exactly the same, played for an hour or two a few months ago and absolutely hated it. But I gave it another go and just finished it tonight. Try again please! Stick it out. Use the ship's log a lot.
@@tyr0mancer423 I feel like you won't enjoy the ending as much without actually playing the game. idk if it's that you're not understanding it or that you are but you're just not enjoying it.
"Going out without your suit... and dying."
Outer Wilds rite of passage. Everyone does it once.
That and accidentally flying into the sun. I cheer on Twitch anytime I see a new player do this!
@@victoriousone4867 We've all been betrayed by that auto-pilot.
I laughed so hard when NerdCubed died on Hollow's Lantern two minutes into a loop... and it wasn't because of the lava.
hahahahaha yessssssssssss...first time i did that i had so much set up and had to do it all over again.
@@WackoMcGoose That had me laughing so much that I, appropriately enough, struggled to breathe. I didn't realise you could even land on Hollow's Lantern and he did it... Only to suffocate. We all knew it was gonna be a short loop when we saw the vid length, but I don't know that anyone guessed correctly how he'd go out on that one.
Flying into that bramble planet and getting eaten by a giant angler fish was literally the most intense jump scare I had ever experienced in a video game. Probably because I wasn't expecting any type of jump scare in a game like this. Had to put the controller down after that one
This is the very first thing that I did in the game after getting on the ship. I didn't go back to Dark Bramble for a while after that.
i wouldnt go to that planet for like a solid 3 days or so after that jumpscare
Being in an endless void like that where i cant see anything thats more than like 2 feet in front of me is like my ultimate fear apparently lmao
Dark bramble is the definition of my anxiety
Have u played the dlc?
had that same experience with Reventure
Step 1: crap yourself
Step 2: reflect on life choices
This game hit my feels so hard. The soundtrack. The animation. 10/10 would recommend.
I cried when I found those who didn't make it when the plane crashed......
@@alanhghg1 those dissonant piano strings 😭
More like 11/10. One of my all-time faves.
animation?
I broke down crying at minimum 2 times playing this game, once for the base game and a much harder breakdown for the DLC
11/10
Let me guess, interloper and ending? (Probably quantum moon)
@@Игорь-щ4г2з or finding the last of the three ships ... all hugging and comforting each other knowing they are out of air with no way to return :(
@@devluz oh right, completely forgot about that one, whoops
@@Игорь-щ4г2з ending for both, well the visions that you give to the prisoner explaining that what he did 200000 years ago actually had an impact
"The pain of your absence is sharp and haunting, and I would give anything not to know it; anything but never knowing you at all (which would be worse)."
That whole bit of the story between a couple Nomai lovers broke me completely. I played this fresh after my divorce in isolation back in July of 2020…and it was one helluva rollercoaster of emotions…
This game brilliantly encapsulated my excitement, terror, and curiosity towards space like no other game. Everyone should check this game out!
Your description made me put it on my list!
What? Outer Wilds definitely has an ending, and it is an amazing one.
Either they didn't get to the ending and didn't look it up before making a video or didn't realise it was an ending... It's weird they said that either way
they mean you don't get an ending for roasting the perfect marshmallow
Gese, actually understand a game before ypu make a video on it
it's a joke lol
Yes we know it has quite the jammin ending, we just meant that roasting a marshmellow doesn't give you an ending, totally see why it could be taken that way though. Sorry about the confusion!
I understand why the game frustrated many people but for me it became my favourite game ever (including DLC), at least for the time being. Thanks for doing an Honest Trailer on it!
I wanted to play it but I really don't like replay loops of doing the same thing over and over.
@@couldarstrolm6969 give it a try. It's like trying to put together a puzzle but after 20 Minutes someone takes all the pieces from you and puts them back into the box. But you still know what you did in the previous attempts.
Repetition is not that bad.
@@Jrostily6400 You literally described hell
I wasn't as much a fan of the DLC, but base game is easily in my top 5 games. Don't get me wrong, still enjoyed the DLC but thought base game was infinitely cooler.
@@couldarstrolm6969 the only thing that you have to do over and over is ride the elevator to your ship and get in it, which takes like 10 seconds. Every loop I had in the game had me doing drastically different stuff.
I don't know if Outer Wilds is the best game I've ever played, but it was certainly the most impactful. It moved me on an existential level and for over a year there wasn't a day that went by that I didn't think of it the game. It shifted my philosophy and outlook on life.
Literally my favorite game. I’d give anything to play it again for the first time.
Easily one of the best games of the decade.
riveting lore finding with interesting puzzles, easily one of the most interesting games ever made.
@@Forever_Thatter can you explain how?
@@christopherlyons4923 "Ever made"? Man that sound midly overblown out of proportion.
Decade like the last 10y or decade like the 2020s?
It is absolutely one of the games of the decade
So glad to see this game still getting recognition even three years after release. If I have alzheimer in the future, playing this game repeatedly would be the silver lining.
There is very much an ending, it's amazing. There is also an AMAZING DLC
They’re just saying the marshmallow isn’t an ending
It should tho. The marshmallow stops the time loop.
This is hands down the best game I've ever played and it's a shame I can never have that first time feel again
This feels like the only game that captures the medium perfectly, this story has to be experienced the way it's presented unlike how most games could easily be turned into a film, series, book, board game, etc
And it's presented to everyone differently.
I haven't played any instruments since I was 5, I was being forced by parents, but this game made me start playing music again 20 more years later, I'm even a hardcore shooting, sim racing, watching stats grow gamer, this game really changed me, I'm still a shooter, racer, RPG nerd, but I now play with Outer Wilds music and its spirit in my head.
"C'mon, play for 20 minutes!" Took me like 3 months to really get into this game, than I played like a mad bastard who was simply unable to stop. Also, excellent vid, totally nailed it & condensed the experience!
Ah come on, end the joke!
-Undercooked.
-And there's The Sun. Now it's definitely too crunchy.
This game is an absolute gem, I feel that there's so much more than what's in this video that I recommend you play it yourself, sincerely. I watched sovietwomble play it on Twitch and it was amazing.
Honestly such a wonderful game, I play it sometimes just for the atmosphere I don't even bother achieve anything
One of the most unique and underrated games of the last generation
Definitely my favourite space game as well
And of course the amazing soundtrack
Buried in sand, yeesh. “Help! It’s coarse, rough, irritating, and getting everywhere!”
I thought the anglerfish in Dark Bramble were one of the scariest things I'd ever encountered in a game.
Then I played Echoes of the Eye.
I literally almost gave up on ever finishing it because my terror levels were through the roof.
The game that already was the definition of "you can't fight back" now more scary when the threat is screaming and also chasing you. The sun exploding was always an afterthought during the DLC lol
@@druid_the_lizard_wizard And even when they weren't chasing you, the extreme darkness of the dream world was *crushingly oppressive.*
There's a mode that removes the jumpscares in the DLC
@@yeah5895 Yeah, but where's the fun in that? I personally love horror so it doesn't bother me lol
@@yeah5895 It doesn't remove them, it just reduces them. The dream world is still terrifyingly dark and spooky, and the things do still chase after you.
If you haven't yet, just play it.
I dunno why this game seems to have gotten a raise in popularity recently, but I appreciate it :D. I just played it for the first time too!
it's on ps plus now so a lot more people are playing it
I think it's because they recently did a patch for Echoes of the Eye that improved some things.
I spent the whole game eating burnt marshmallows because I didn't know you're supposed to hover them OVER the fire rather than in it until the DLC.
Truly one of the best video games ever. I wish everybody played this to understand where video games can lead as an entertainment media.
I would easily rank this as one of the 3 best sci-fi games that I've ever played, alongside Soma and The Swapper. I've never played System Shock 2, Homeworld, or Deus Ex, but they often get mentioned as excellent sci-fi games. Outer Wilds would definitely deserve to be in any top 5 list with those games.
SOMA is such a great game. Subnautica is closest to Outer Wilds, try it out if you haven't.
Well. Now you HAVE to do the DLC. It's brilliant! And TERRIFYING
What a pity that you only can play once, but the story is incredible and the exploration awesome.
I can read a good book multiple times. I can watch a good movie multiple times. Why can I play this only once? Is that not very damning "praise"?
@ The game is all about the discovery and learning new things, unless you can somehow erase the memories of your playthrough its impossible to replicate the experience of not knowing, you can play it again but it will never be the same thing, once you know, theres no coming back
there is no actual physical progression in the game, if you know how to beat the game, you can do it comfortably in an hour
FYI, there's a fan-made VR mod for this game that works VERY well. It feels like it's a native VR game!
I've already experienced the terror of floating in space with no ship or fuel in Space Engineers. Oh and you should DO AN HONEST TRAILER FOR SPACE ENGINEERS!!!
It’s the rare perfect game for me (yes it has an ending!)
Uhh, ok I'll tell you how to cook the perfect mashmallow.
Step 1: Place shmallow on stick of choice
Step 2: Insert directly into fire for 3 seconds.
Step 3: Remove from direct flame
Step 4: Alow shmal to burn for another 3-4 seconds or untill completly blackend.
Step 5: Eat delicious blackend shmal and subsequent goo!
Step 6: Repeat as nessessary.
Mmmmm carcinogens
"Like you're trying to speedrun archeology" Lol best description of this game.
I loved this game. So much fun to put the story together from being an alien archaeologist in a tiny solar system. Which is a sentence you can't use in any other game.
I'm so happy you guys did a video on one of my favorite games.
This game changed video games as a whole for me...A masterpiece
I just want to lose all my memories of this game so i can enjoy it again like it was my first time. DYING.
Y'all are mad confused, he didn't say there wasn't an ending, he said "The TRUE endgame is trying to roast the perfect marshmallow" as a joke.
I'd love it if you guys did an Honest Trailer for Warframe. Pretty please, with a cherry on top :D
Also, please say: My brothers, did I not tell of this day? Did I not prophesize this moment?
Honest Game Trailer for Disney Dreamlight Valley!
One of the best and most unique gaming experiences of my life. Truly beautiful game that I wish I could forget just to experience it for the first time again.
"Does it hurt?"-Neebs "Every time."- Apsro Hits me in the feels every time i think about their lets play.
Amazing, you made a trailer for a game about being alone in a cold environment. Alan is also alone and in a cold environment in Alan Wake, which you should do the honest trailer for ☺️
Cya next time.
Interestingly, I would not ever choose to describe Outer Wilds as being or representing coldness or being alone, yet both of those things are technically true for most of a playthrough :Lc
I recommend watching Soviet Wombles playthrough of this. He really gets excited and does a great job of explaining things
I believe my sales pitch was "play this. no, I won't tell you anything. just play it."
"Out of all the creatures that have come and went in this world, the anglerfish will be missed the least."
Well it's better than anything Bethesda could offer us.
Probably even better than anything Nintendo ever made my dude
imagine stumbling upon this video before playing the game and then having more than half of spoiled for you
the game is literally built on the joy of discovry, you can't rediscover something interesting, it's a first time only game, and now there are people who won't be able to enjoy the game to its fullest because yall put in a clip of the high energy lab and a secret ending it unlocks.
This game looks like a good time with a good vibe...
Until the anglerfishes
It looks pleasant on the surface but actually gets pretty dark. The DLC is straight up a horror game.
The game was produced by a company founded by Hiro from Heroes, so yeah time loops.
It’s a funny coincidence but unrelated. The time loop concept started in Alex Beachum’s thesis project, pre-alpha, before Masi Oka’s studio picked it up.
Please say, "We're sorry we haven't made an Honest Game Trailer for Batman: Arkham Origins yet." and then make an Honest Game Trailer for Batman: Arkham Origins.
please, please, PLEASE edit something of this video to really get across how much of a spoiler it is. I loved the video, but it already showed half of the things you can look forward to in Outer wilds, and discovering them yourself is the entire point of the game
This is one of those solo games to play and take a break from life. Just sit back and relax, and discover. No wiki or guides, or competitive setting. Just a good, well written, adventure. Highly recommend.
You should do an honest trailer for the Earth Defense Force games
Make an Honest Trailer for Disney Dreamlight Valley
Do an impression of Patrick Stewart and say "You get nothing and like it!"
For me it’s the game of my life and probably no other. For me it surpassed the level of breath of the wild, greatest of 21 century yet I don’t expect anyone can challenge it
Hello there good neighbor, would you like to here the good news about our lord and saviour Deus Ex 1? 🙃
The problems with Outer Wilds is how you want to tell everyone how amazing it is, but literally anything you say about the game spoils part of it for them
First time going into Dark Bramble be like snake lady at the end of Men In Black II. "Oops. _Teeth."_
kazoo world and toasty marshmallows had me luaghing. 🤣
This game is wild
Do Return to Monkey Island!
I think the fish from super mario bros 3 and super mario 64 already taught us we were scared of getting eaten by giant fish
Please Say: "Alien-dude: Need two tickets to Pearl Jam".
This game never really clicked with me. I liked the idea of solving a space mystery, but I really didn't enjoy the looping aspect. I know it's part of the story and everything, but as a mechanic it just frustrated me more than anything.
I suggest you reevaluare the time loop not as a limitation to your exploration, but as another dimension to take into consideration when you explore (just one that you can't avoid moving in). Then, many puzzles will make sense mm
My favorite game of all time, both the biggest fun I had and impact something had on me. Sad this trailer misses out on talking about the lore and the ending, because it turned out to be a lifechanging experience for many! And they didn't even mention the quantum shenanigans... Maybe it's good this didn't spoil it - play the game guys!
"Oooop-there goes the sun" *Doo doo doo doo dooooo*
Do the echoes of the eye dlc next
you really nailed what a playthrough of this game feels like xD
You should try the DLC, if you want scary
One of the best games i've ever played. I highly reccomend this experience
Make an Honest Trailer for Splatoon 3
Also the DLC is 10/10
of course I gotta ask you to read this now. Hope it ain't too long ;)
"We do not have much connection, you and I. Still, this encounter feels special. I hope you won't mind if I think of you as a friend."
Best game I've ever played. Easy.
Loved every second of this game. It's one of the best.
I'd play more of this if it wasn't for the time loop, hate having to rush everything while on a clock. It doesn't help that the loop is super short as well, much shorter than the one in Majora's Mask in my opinion.
Outer Wilds >>>>>>>>> Outer Worlds
GO. PLAY. THIS. GAME.
You can watch this video afterwards.
Being a dumb person, doing the same thing over and over because I'm too slow or stupid to figure out the clues puts me off trying this one. Sounds cool tho.
I'm not sure "floating in the void of space with no oxygen left" counts as a _phobia,_ really. It's a pretty damn valid concern.
Please make a Honest Game Trailer for Splatoon 3.
Trying to land on the sun station made me give up technology and become a hermit
You should then play Kerbal Space Program and let it teach you about orbital mechanics one "rapid unplanned disassembly" at a time. Once you get good at that game, landing on the Sun Station just requires a few tries.
Please say in the next episode: Even at his most powerless, man's existence is never without meaning.
Please say: "Damn son where'd you find this?"
2:13 Oh I developed _that_ phobia in Mario Galaxy
I understood many things on outer wilds fast since I test things out and guess how they’ll work. Made me never run into the sun due to auto-pilot but Dark Bramble was something different
Now a trailer about the DLC
Actually Sir. I am well aware that I already have these fears, thank you.
There are few games I wish I could go back and play for the first time again. This is one of them.
Speaking of toasting marshmallows: if you have one out as the supernova engulfs you, you can see, just for a moment before everything goes white, the marshmallow catch on fire from the blast wave.
You can’t stop the inevitable…..the game.
DLC deserves it's own trailer
Oh no, I've already had the fear of getting eaten by a massive anglerfish ever since first watching Finding Nemo
I never knew you could break the fabric of spacetime! I got all the notes I could and never went back to the High Energy Lab after lol
I need an honest trailer of Kenshi. It’s on steam and that is definitely a game I can’t stop telling my friends to play
Do the Honest Trailler for Splatoon 3!
