This is my personal favorite episode on Dale Jr’s show. This wasn’t just about racing, this was about a man that had endured a lot in his life, and kept his head up. Such an interesting man. I’m still in shock he’s gone. He will be greatly missed
This one hurts, a lot... The GOAT and Earnhardt of dirt racing lost a special one today... R.I.P. Scott Bloomquist fly high and your legacy will forever live on 😭🙏
Rest in Peace, Scott. I’ll admit, I’ve seen some Late Model races (I’m not too much of a Late Model guy, more of a Sprint Car guy when it comes to dirt racing), and to see and hear things how much of a legend and badass Scott was is truly amazing. It was an honor to watch him race at Eldora 2013 for Trucks and 2021 SRX at Knoxville, and even the 2018 Show Me 100 and other Lucas Oil Late Model races. Enjoy every moment of your life, everyone. Life is way too short and we don’t know when our last day of living is. So, enjoy every moment of it while you can🙏🏁 May he Rest in Peace.
Oh man if you go back and you watch some old late model races even ones from like the last couple of years this guy was kicking ass. What a great driver and overall what a great human being.
Scott bloomquist was such a cool guy. Rest in peace man what a legend and what a genuinely good human being too. That's what you always have to look at at the end of the day you don't judge somebody by what they believe you judge somebody by their heart and he was a great man. Junior seemed like he had a lot of fun hanging out with him.
The first time I met Scott Bloomquist was at a small dirt track just South of Gadsden,Alabama called Green Valley. He'd never laid eyes on the track before that night, and went out and set the track record in qualifying that was never broken before the track shut down many years later. He was more than gracious with his time afterwards, signing autographs and talking to the fans at some little track he would probably never visit again. He was always entertaining, and will definitely be missed....
Green Valley was my track too. I saw him race there several times. I have the ‘95 Have A Tampa race on tape that he won. And a little scale model of his. I miss Green Valley Speedway. It’s a d#%+ shame what happened to it.
Same experience West Siloam Springs Oklahoma. 1991. The #18 came in and burned down the house. Cemented me as a dirt race fan for life. That beautiful reflection on his numbers was the most amazing thing ever seen around at the time.
It's 2 am and I've now watched this completely through for the second time. One of my favorite episodes. There's something to be said about a person who walks to the beat of THEIR drum and not someone else's. RIP Bloomer.
RIP Scott.... you saying you sang with Pantera made me a fan even though I knew you were a driver because of Bloomquist. This was an even better story the 2nd go round. He was a wild man! He's having a good time in Heaven right now.
I wish I had the confidence to talk about ghost's and aliens and reworking a master chassis builders work. This world has to few men like Scott.I also miss Mike steering the interviews.
@@terrygarvin1392Thumbs up agree with you, all except the Mike part. Scott Bloomquist is a giant in the racing world, one of one, they broke the mold after Scott. 🏁🏆😎
We're never ready to lose those we admire and respect. Scott Bloomquist was the epitome of an Outlaw in the very best way. From his looks, his style off the track and his legendary accomplishments on track, he was an Outlaws Outlaw. We're all sad about his loss and we grieve for his family and for him. I never met Scott. Only know of him from the sprint car side of dirt racin'. I'm thankful a man like Scott didn't lay dying in a cancer bed and he's ok goin' out the way he did. We will all miss you. Rest In Peace Scott Bloomquist.
Racing is a hard life. It always catches up to you, every hit. I'm 62. More crashes than I can count. 2 spine surgeries. One shoulder reconstruction. I understand his desire to be free of the pain. RIP to a true racer.
@balancepoint71 I can't agree with you more. I'm 55 myself, and have raced since I was in my late teens, and I've took a few licks, as we pretty much all do. It's a lot easier to rebound and bounce back when you're in your teens and twenties, even up to my mid-late thirties. I don't race as much these days, as I used to, but I still do race stock cars, and enjoy it every bit if not more as I used to back when I was a wide eyed rookie. Haven't hit anything hard, in a long time but my problem is, some of those really hard crashes from 15, 20, 25 years ago, can really be felt now. It's a hard life yes, but for me, it's also hard to completely give it up and walk away from. I still love doing it. Good luck to you! 🏁🏆😎
RIP Scott Bloomquist. @dirtymomedia THANK YOU for re-uploading this great interview with Scott. In the late 1990's my employer sponsored Scott's #18 car and had it at my work a couple of times . .

A lot of things will die in racing with you Scott. We will all miss you forever. I took my Ma to her first dirt race in 2010 at the USA Nationals in Cedar Lake for her birthday and you won that night. Had to go into the work area but still made it out ahead. I will never forget what you did for me and for racing as a whole. RIP Bloomer, you kicked Moyers ass that night;)
I had been waiting for him to write a book that he mentioned a few different occasions that he would write. You know that would have been a bestseller. Rip
I remember watching Scott in the 80’s at Kingsport. He was younger than everyone and ten times cocky. But he backed it up. I seen his first race there afterwards they ( other racers) paid the $100 to protest his car. It was legal. He was just that much better than everyone else. Rest in peace Scott

We've had so many aircraft problems with racers here in east Tennessee. Alan Kulwicki in 1993, Dale Jr. in 2019 and now Scott Bloomquist. There's probably more I don't even remember.

you're forgetting the Hendricks plane crash that killed 9 people including Rick's son Ricky, nieces maybe an uncle or two and most of the senior management team.
Fantastic episode!! I was a teenager in the early 80's watching Scott turn his first laps at the iconic red clay Volunteer Speedway in Bulls Gap TN.
