For those saying they risked their lifes, there are lenses with a zoom so big, they make it look like the cameraman is filming super close. So what might seem as a close up shot, is probably filmed from meters away.

There's a light house there that was manned by a family. When a ship noticed the light was out, someone (whoever had authority over the light house) went to check and found the family dead with puncture wounds but wasn't sure what caused them. As time went on, the snake population just got out of control. MrBallen covers it well, but I forget which one of his videos it was in.

Theres a legend about that place here in brazil. In the 1920, 1 lighthouse caretaker was sent to the island with his wife and his five-year-old daughter. The lighthouse was used to warn sailors about the dangerous chains surrounding the island of snakes.
During a trip to take resources, the team found the abandoned lighthouse and the door open.
The family ended up being found, dead, on a trail on the hillside. Legend has it that, despite the protection walls around the lighthouse, a snake managed to get in.
Until today, many of the people who visit the island claim to hear the slight laughter of a little girl echoing with the wind.

@King Ghidorah but if you have raised a lion with yourself it becomes your friend, there are plenty of pet lions but snakes are never meant to be domesticated. They are the most disloyal and unfaithful creatures.

This island is locked down by the navy. Once an entire family unaware of what that place was stopped their boat there and went for a walk, everyone died. The snakes JUMPS and their venon kills an adult in two hours

since childhood everyone has read about stories of Sindbad and Island of Snakes, or Medusa with hair like snakes, or many tales even modern day Indiana Jones movie where in a scene he and female lead were trapped in chamber full of snakes.
this Ilha da Queimada Grande - shape is somewhat like snake (when arial viewed from certain point ).
obessession with snakes in large quantity is one of human fear - so law of attraction made an Island full of venomous snakes.

there's a surprisingly large community of people who agree with you and also love the danger noodles. Just look up sneks on reddit or your social media of choice.
These in particular may not be the best to get close to, since they are venomous, but a vast majority of snakes are harmless and a lot of the dangerous ones aren't even very aggressive, preferring to keep their distance to avoid dealing with humans altogether. Overall they tend to get a bad rap because evolution has made many people instinctively afraid of them, but if you learn about them and how to observe and/or deal with them safely, there's a lot to love.
