It’s ridiculous. South Korea doesn’t even have discrimination laws so the person is just stuck dealing with their employer. I knew one girl who went above her direct boss. 2 months later she quit and is now working at a different school.

Oh they know all black people don’t live in Africa. I sometimes think they say it to get under a persons skin. Most of them, if you call them Chinese or Japanese, they feel insulted. I just wished respect can be given on both sides. Stop “selective listening” to what is being said on the news. In 2024 we all know how bias ALL news stations are but some people continue to perpetuate false narratives.

@derringtravel3278 majority of koreans are not racist but they strictly adjere to their culture their eay of doing things. If you want respect and support from koreans then you should lead by example to stand up for and be united as a fellow minority w/ koreans and asians in general to fight back against racism in america using your platform. When the korean/asian community see this they will be very moved and you will begin to see the change you would like. Too many ppl expect and onlu care about what concerns them but could care less about the matters that other communities face. This isnt the same case for asians as blacks in america bc asians are even lower on the totem pole culturally in tge west as they have little to no voices or media representation as blacks do to have such influence to create change.

What's funny is most Koreans know about the stereotypes that TV and the media apply to them, and they don't like it. However, they will turn around and do it to another group. I find it hypocritical and ironic. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy living in South Korea, but my interactions with the people (foreign and local) have mostly been negative. It's interesting to hear your perspective. I think there may be some misunderstandings on both sides, but it's important to understand why people might hold certain perspectives. For example, what if the man who looked you up and down on the train had an issue with overseas military bases, and thought you were some off-duty military personnel? Just a theory! I've been fortunate in that I only ever had two bad experiences with Koreans seeming to have xenophobia, and ironically one of those cases involved a worker at an immigration center in a provincial town. I just try to be patient in such situations, as changing someone else's mindset isn't going to happen instantly.

Wow some Koreans are over there using derogatory words in the bedroom without consent? But then again, these people probably don’t even know what consent is. That’s something schools and the media should teach them. I agree with everything you said though. Bts went to America to talk about stopping Asian hate and passing the law but they haven’t said a word to protect foreigners in their own country. I don’t care if they donated to blm. They should be at the blue house too stirring ish up sticking up for foreigners. I get they were invited to speak but still, it’s very ironic that Koreans can get so butthurt is they experience racism in America but then will be racist to others when they return to their country. Another really interesting vid, wish this content had been available 10yrs ago when I first started getting into K culture. I allowed myself to be put off of exploring it further by the attitudes towards BIPOC, and took a break that ended about 2 months ago. It's bad enough dealing with micro-aggressions in your home country, let alone going somewhere you dream of visiting and receiving that treatment so brazenly. It's giving crab bucket/sch bully vibes. Scared of being linked with the "underdog" so a lot of them convince themselves that they truly are better than others and act out negatively. Change can be excruitiatingly slow, and a lot of people need to continue working on themselves and their views on the people they share this planet with for positive effect.
    - In terms of fetishes, consent is key. Our fantasies are our own and if the intent is to share that with somebody then there should be enthusiastic and informed consent imo. Racial fetishization is a line I won't cross, and can't help but side eye those who enjoy it (bc where is that actually coming from within you to want to be degraded or degrade others like that?)
