    My butterfly bushes are 26 years old and I’ve always trimmed them in the spring. I live in southwest Michigan near the Indiana border.

      Wow! I bet those are some mature looking plants. I have trimmed both fall and spring. Generally they say for MI spring is best

    ...I GUESSED RIGHT!...barberries! It takes a special person to brave the elements like you do, Heidi. It's truly survival of the fittest for those in the snowbelts. Our first snowfall of the 2023-2024 winter season is this coming Saturday in Maryland. 2-6" forecast. (Don't laff!) 🥴🙃🤷🏼‍♀️❄️👩🏼‍🌾💚 =^..^=

    What shrub is that on the left side of the isle at the minute mark 31:06? It has blue/silver foliage. Just beautiful!!! And, I think I see the 10 Baptisia I ordered just hanging out there in the nursery! 😁😁😁😁

    • @gardencrossings
      @gardencrossings  11 месяцев назад +1

      It may be butterfly bush. The pugster series can in the cold have a silver blue look.

    I’ve been wanting a Proud Berry for a few years now but can never find it locally. I’ve never ordered plants online before but I’m ready to preorder online from you. Not sure which size to get. Can you tell me a little about it’s growth rate? Thanks for the video- fun to be in your garden today!

    • @gardencrossings
      @gardencrossings  11 месяцев назад

      I always say if the 8"/gallon is available I would get that as it is a larger plant to start with. They are average growing so a quart isnt a bad option as well.

  • @NusratZ2

    Happy New Year Heidi! For Proud berry, does it need a male plant to get those beautiful pink berries? Like Berry Poppins?

    • @gardencrossings

      No it does not. One plant and you will have berries

    Do you not need to protect the hydrangeas buds ? I’m in zone 5b/6a

    • @gardencrossings
      @gardencrossings  11 месяцев назад +1

      On Big Leaf/ Mac hydrangeas it isn't a bad idea to protect the buds if you are able. Many of the new varieties are quick to set buds on new growth if the ones from the old grow die in the winter.
