The old Bulgarian capital and the last bastion in the face of Turkish troops at the end of the 14th century, marked the beginning of the 500-year-old Islamic occupation of Bulgaria.

By the way - one of the towers in the fortress Tsarevets was called Baldwin's Tower. The French emperor Baldwin of Flanders, leader of the Fourth Crusade captured by the Bulgarian king (king) Kaloyan, was imprisoned there for the rest of his life after the battle of the Bulgarian city of Adrianople (now Edirne in Turkey) in 1205.

There are many events and it's beautiful during the different seasons. The difficulties are with wages being incomparable to the bigger city, unless you have something going on. People are generally friendly, sociable, hospitable and hard-working. It's the perfect quiet little city.

Veliko Tarnovo is the first Bulgarian capital after the liberation. After that it was supposed to be Plovdiv, but they chose Sofia because of pressure from other countries. The reason is that Plovdiv was a very developed city, but Sofia was not. And so they wanted to slow down the country's development. It is very nice that you have decided to visit these cities first! I just saw one of your videos (the 1st one from Plovdiv) and I really liked it + the others from Bulgaria. Guys.... try the shopska salata, especially in the smaller cities... chances ate the veggies are locally grown and I don’t mean in a f*** green house. You can really taste the differences. Also stop wprrying about the calories so much it’s like 35C and you walked 1000 stairs... ur good. Ooo n try tarator! It’s like a gaspatcho soup but with bulgarian Yoghurt ... we live on that stuff on the summer!
