Bob Seger was known to spend a lot of time in the studio getting each song perfect. He recorded “The Famous Final Scene” 47 times, trying it different ways, until he decided on this version for the “Stranger In Town”.
My favorite album!
It still sounds like there were flaws in the mastering in certain places.
Stranger in Town was my first and favorite album of Bob’s. His music moves me still today. Such a poet and storyteller. One of the greatest songwriters ever. ❤️❤️❤️
Bob Seger is one of the modern day poets, story tellers! But he can also rock it out!!!! Love him, one of my all time favorites!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Like Bruce Springsteen he could do whatever topic he wanted to do with full of emotion that draws everyone in!❤
Was amazing hearing this live in his farewell tour.
He's done touring??
@@sebastianblack6506 Yes, his last tour was in 20’ I believe.
Saw that tour in Austin…I liked when he did Rock and Roll Never forgets and said “now sweet sixteens turned 73”…and he was still belting em out!!
Bob Seger is probably the most under rated and under appreciated musicians of all time. The amount of music he has produced at the highest quality makes him an icon
One of Bob's finest both vocally, and lyrically. Masterpiece all around!
This song by Bob has always been a true treasure to me...Since it first came out I`ve played it until I wore it out...An outstanding song.
Great observations! Bob did "The Famous Final Scene" on his final tour and the song really took on the tone of relating it to the ending of his touring career. Also, Seger played the final show at The Palace of Auburn Hills. The arena that hosted so many great Detroit area concerts as well as the Detroit Pistons games going back to 1988. After Seger played the last song of the night, they surprised everyone by playing a video of highlights from the years at The Palace of Auburn Hills and put it to "The Famous Final Scene" as the soundtrack. Not a dry eye in the place.
Ken , are you the photographer “Ken Settle”?
@@kevinminne1460 I am indeed!
@@kensettle3184 Nice! Always have loved your photography
I got fired for trying to sneak into the Palace 1988. I wore my Oakland County meter reader uniform. Oh boy I did feel the magic though.
I told my husband I'd want this to be on the playlist at my final shindig...with friends around a bonfire. I take it as a beautiful, end of life song. Another gift from a talented artist. ❤️
It was after hearing this song for the first time that I delved into his music, what a storyteller, what a voice
One of the best breakup songs ever. Roll Me Away, Horizontal Bop, and Betty Lou’s Getting Out Tonight.
There are no bad bob Seger songs, Thank you for this one! keepem' commin'
When this song came out, my friends and I were in our teens. My friend comes on the bus, sits with all of us and hands over a paper. She said for us to read the lyrics, then walked to another part of the bus, to sit alone. We read the lyrics and realized she handed us a suicide note. The lyrics of Famous Final Scene fit perfectly with all she was feeling. In the 70's we didn't talk of such things, but my group, we were ones to speak out. We rallied around her and by noon, she was feeling better and said that she was fine. She never did that again and to this day, I still can't hear this song without thinking of that moment. We all were big Bob Segar fans and in a way, thankful that she found his lyrics perfect for sharing how she felt at that moment.
Seger NOT Segar!
@@Jerry-up8bk Lighten up, Bob wouldn't care, so neither should you.
I'm so grateful to have seen him in concert, he was incredible live I've been a fan of his since I heard back in the 70's
I too was lucky enough to see him and his shows were always top notch. Saw him first in mid 70s at the Bayou Boogie Festival Concert in New Orleans with Fleetwood Mac, Foreigner, and Kenny Loggins. Great show. Saw him a few more times and once in Baton Rouge where my wife, my brother and I got in the show for a total of 10 dollars by a doorman. No tickets. He escorted us to the 2nd row from the stage, dead center. Unreal.
He always captured and thrilled his audience. He could sing the phone book
First concert in 78, seen him again in 2015... honestly he's one of the best song writer's ever
@@brianburket5706 Yep, also in the Songwriters Hall of Fame.
After almost 50 years, it still brings tears to my eyes.
Great to see you guys react to this one, haven't seen any other reactors do this song. This is one of the Seger tracks that has grown on me the most, other than Jody Girl (live version).
I saw 1 guy from Australia react to it...petrol gaming or something...but he did a ton of Seger ( He'd never heard of him before starting and was blown away )
@@ricshaffer4009 I'll check it out, thanks.
@@ricshaffer4009 His channel is great, Patrol Nation. Just a really down to earth guy. He loves Seger.
I was a senior in high school back in 1976 when this came out.still the story inside the songs he puts out to music holds true even today
This was our "Theme Song" at my High School Senior Prom 1981.
OMG! I can't believe you are finally reacting to this song! Thank you so much! You can picture the whole story. Arguments, then both trying to give in a little, but the love has finally just gone. The happiness is gone. Is just numbness. Until finally someone leaves as the other just watches, as the door is closing. One person is walking away & one person sits alone, looking at the closed door. Both emotionless. Bob paints a perfect picture to every story he tells. I know I request this every time you do a Seger song. Thank you!!!
A similar song by Bob is Somewhere Tonight.
Asia & BJ, you'll love his "Rock And Roll Never Forgets" and "Katmandu"!!!! I promise!
You can NEVER go wrong with Bob Seger! He has so so many outstanding songs! One of the greatest rock stars ever!
Another from Bob that is similar to this but with even deeper lyrics is "Somewhere Tonight".
Thanks for reviewing this song❤
A deep cut that gets missed too often.
Seger was the first concert I ever went to, waited in line overnight for tickets. Such a great show, saw him 3 more times over the years. This was always the last song he played
My favorite Bob Seger song , great lyrics , great story , great song .
Sir, I wanna give you the biggest hug ever for your comments. Sincerely.
In 1976, my hero big brother drowned, following through the ice at our smalltown park.
I was 7, and still ache for him.
This song came out 2 years later, and ohhhh how it spoke to me so brutally and beautifully, all the music and words expressing my inner pain.
I often hear it in my head, especially at night, and I play out an entire long visual of a mental video in my head, of brother Shawn, and lil me, and the ice...❤
Please FEEL this mental hug!!!!!
Peace.
I think this is one of Bob's most underrated song.
Heard it at a funeral. Helped me let go and cry.
So glad to see this one. One of Bob's many masterpieces!
I've said this a few times, but you MUST check out "Brave Strangers" from the same album (A Stranger in Town). You'll love it, I promise.
They reacted to Brave Strangers” last month. ❤
Most underrated song by Bob Seger. The album itself had 8 charting songs on it. He's a beast.
An American treasure.. This is Bob's greatest masterpiece
Love this song.. it's one of Bob's hidden gems Thanks Asia/BJ for reacting to this
I want this played at my funeral.
Another good Bob Seger song to check out is "Katmandu".
OH WOWWWW, MORE FROM ( STRANGER IN TOWN ) 😊 YOU GUYS ARE KILLING IT! 👍
I think this is from “Night moves”
Bob is a legend, he doesn't have one bad song.
BRAVE STRANGERS 😊ANOTHER GREAT JAM ON THIS ALBUM YOU GUYS!
Bob Seger The REAL BOSS 🎤🎸🎹🎵🎶🎼
Just a quick comment here...Both of yall are friggin awesome...Love the chemistry, and I love to hear how yall break the songs down...Sometimes I think that I know how the artist is feeling, and what he means with his words...But yall break the song down, and I really enjoy "understanding a song from yalls prospective...Thanks for what yall do...Yall most definitely have a new subscriber, in me...But I'm also gonna "put the word out" letting folks know how great yall are...❤
I always loved bob Seger. My sister lives down the street from each other and their kids went to school together. So I got to hang out with him a few times. Great guy! We sat around a bonfire once and he sang. It was an awesome night.
Thanks for doing this song...one of my favorites your only the 2nd I've seen do it...an Australian guy did it after he started down this deep rabbit hole...good instrumentals , story telling style , and unique voice ( Midwestern no frills rock n roll ) is what makes Bob so good...best wishes
NEVERRRRRMIND, YOU DID IT ALREADY! 😮 I JUST SAW IT ON THE SCROLL 😊
Great review! BJ had some really good insights a little before halfway through. Y’all are def some music heads!
What can you say nobody tells stories like Bob ❤❤❤😊
My brother Chris, had this played as the last song of his funeral.
I forgot this was on an album, my favorite of Bob’s, that I owned when it was first released back in the late 2970’s!
My brother wanted this played at his funeral
Love this song
My favorite song from Bob.
LETS HEAR IT FOR GREAT DEEP TRACKS!!! 💯 😊
He said in an interview he wrote that about one of the guys in the band (he never said which one) who was going through a divorce or a breakup at the time.
Bob, what can’t I say !!! I love him !!!
I'm 64....I decided long ago I want this song played at any remembrance of me when I leave here...
They played this song at the end of the Ali v Larry Holmes broadcast in which they younger Holmes whipped Ali, and it became clear the Greatest simply had nothing left to give. It was very appropriate, and very sad.
Agreed. It was the perfect, but sad, accompaniment to the end of Ali's career.
Welcome back. Great reaction to a great song and artists. Much appreciated 🙏
I haven't been able to find Hard Night for Sara that Bob Wrote and sang, but Kid Rock does it justice. Do that one for the lyrics ❤
❤thanks y'all... going through it now! Thought it was supposed be different and going to be my great last love chapter..but i guess it's just like this great Segar song. You two are great. Thanks 😢
Another Great even more heart wrenching Bob Seger song is Somewhere Tonight. Check that one out.
💗💗Love everything he did 💗💗
i used this as the closing song on side B of a mix tape. you should also, if you havent already, reaact to the kinks' "celluloid heroes", which is about the movies and movie stars of the past as a metaphor for life
I was/am a "Supernatural" super fan. On the first episode of the final season, they opened with this song. 😢
This was my class song back in 82
A song that doesn’t get much attention but should. Thx for reacting ❤️
My all time favorite well this and Mainstreet
I got to see him at my high school in 69 and many times after. He is Detroit’s finest ! You might try East side story from 66 and heavy music and 2+ 2 is on my mind some of his earlier songs
One of the greatest, if not THE greatest songwriter of all time.
Such an underated song.
A beautifully sentimental song.
One of his best and that’s saying a lot
Hard to believe you haven't done "Shame on the Moon" yet...
The King of Detroit Rock and Roll
From what I get from this song is he still loves her but not in the way he used to. He knows the show is over but she doesn't or she will not accept it. This is him explaining it to her and trying to make it less painful to her.
That song will stop you in your tracks. Bob is a great great songwriter. You’ll accompany me is a song
I’d love to see you two react to.
I'm an old stripper...loved bob my whole life. He was supposed to marry me. Loved your take on this. I was breaking off a termoluious love affair when this came out...
Peace and Magic.
N.Haun
It’s a break up song. And Bob can tell the story the best!!😉
It's DIFFICULT to COMPREHEND! BOB SEGER only had 1 SINGLE #1 HIT SONG, SHAKE DOWN ! From BEVERLY HILLS COP 2 !
So if you are do g Seger songs that were the B side or album cuts give Livin' Inside My Heart a listen.
I desperately want to see you guys react to Edwin Mcccain’s I’ll Be…..
Could you please react to Fiji - sweet darling. Please
This is my favorite song by Bob we had it played at our sons funeral 2019 TJFOREVER29
From the first time I ever heard Guns N" Roses - November's Rain, I knew I had heard the piano piece and bass from somewhere, then I was listening to some old records and this song came on. One of Bob's best.
this song takes me back to the 80s when i was alone late at night in a 1978 6.6 with the screaming chicken on the hood ..... hold on to 16 as long as you can changes come around real soon make us women and men
