My generation was so lucky. We grew up with the greatest music.
so true and we took it for granted ...
💥💥💥👍😎
we sure were...lets go back...I'll drive the bus...now, wouldn't that be a trip !‼
@@salmuscles awww,,,Dude. I was THERE. 💥💥💥😎
I totally relate to that.
This man is a lyrical genius. He really doesn't get enough credit. Born in 1970 and grew up with him my dad playing his music in the background. How lucky was I?
Pete Carr from the Muscle Shoals Rhythm Section on lead guitar here. You’re right the lead guitar and the vocals make this song.
Everytime I hear this song it takes me back to being 9 or 10 riding with my Pops in our old pickup truck to water our cattle in the early morning before sun up. The old 8track blaring with Pops singing the only part he knew “down on main street” English being our second language. My Dad was the strongest man I knew RIP Pops..
Great song great guitar player mister drew abbott
Love this comment, Ander
@@jackdaniel1275 Same here.
Bob Seger is a great rock singer, songwriter & musician known for his raspy powerful voice. He wrote & recorded songs that dealt with love, women & blue-collar themes. He had so many great songs especially in the 70's-80's such as "Ramblin' Gamblin' Man", "Night Moves", "Turn The Page", "Still The Same", "Hollywood Nights", "Against The Wind", "You'll Accomp'ny Me", "Shame On The Moon", "Roll Me Away", "Like A Rock", "Shakedown", "We've Got Tonight" & "Old Time Rock & Roll".
You left out "Fire Lake!"
Sunspot baby
And Come to Papa
Roll me away!
🔻Song Facts: In Bob’s youth, “Seger wrote this song about his high school years in Ann Arbor, Michigan.”
“The actual street Seger sings about in this song is Ann Street, which was off of Main Street in Ann Arbor. Seger recalled to the Chicago Sun-Times: "It was a club. I can’t remember the name of the club, but the band that played there all the time was called Washboard Willie. They were a Delta and Chicago blues band. Girls would dance in the window. They were a black band, and they were very good. That’s where I would go but I was too young to get in. It wasn’t in a great part of town but college students loved to go there."
GO BLUE!!! 😀😉✌
@@ageofaquarius6176
yup! I was born in Detroit and Bob Seger was on the radio all the time in the 70’s.
Old Ann Streer is gone, all the grit has been removed and all of AA2 is upscale.
there aint no more ruff spots in Ann Arbor anymore. You gotta be a go zllion air to live there 😊😊
❤❤❤ I’ve listened to this song while on Ann Street!
The guitar in this song feels like the sadness of the young man who never quite got up the courage to talk to the girl. All he could do was watch her walk on past. Such a good song, part of the soundtrack of my teenage years.
❤❤❤
Marie, there was a spot in the song that Asia and BJ flagged out as great guitar work. Those were actually saxophone licks, played by the incomparable Alto Reed. R.I.P.
Love how the lyrics paint a visual picture in your mind of those memories.
Almost like you were there alongside him on main street.
Yeah, I can see him stalking a stripper vividly.
@@bradbutcher3984 Hah. That's kinda a dark take on the song.
That guitar riff gets me every time since 1976 😎 Bob was the last concert I saw before Covid at Madison Square Garden.
Bob was the last concert I saw as well. At The forum in LA. It was a bucket list concert for me and yeah he's what pushing his upper 70s now but he and his band were incredible.
You and I saw him on the same tour then... although on opposite coasts
That had to be simply amazing
These guitar solos go deep into my soul. As well as Bob's soaring vocals.
"Against The Wind" is another great Bob Seger song. BJ will probably recognize it since it was one of the songs playing when Forest was on his long distance run.
😂😂😂😎
This album is an iconic gem. No bad songs on this album. I was lucky enough to see him during the live bullet tour. Such a Talented Man
❤️🔥 There’s SO MANY Seger songs that will knock your socks off!!
The ‘Against the Wind’ and ‘Night Moves’ albums are my faves.
Y’all need to check out his song, “Her Strut”. ❤️🔥
Much love to ya, Asia & BJ ☮️💟
Asia & BJ, you'll love his "Hollywood Nights", "Rock and Roll Never Forgets" and "Katmandu"!!!! yes, I like the faster ones from Bob
If you go back to their live stream a couple weeks ago with the names of cities/states in the songs/performers theme, they do Hollywood Nights!
That guitar adds a wistful element. It's like a bittersweet memory, maybe full of some regret and even some hope of finding that feeling again. Bob sure knows how to spin a tale.
Bob is one of the greatest storytellers.
You guys need to listen to the live 1975 Bob Seger album “Live Bullet”, it shows how fantastic he was live.
That iconic guitar riff is played by the great (and sadly forgotten) Pete Carr of the Muscle Shoals Rhythm Section, which backs up Seger on this track. Carr played in The Hourglass with Duane and Gregg Allman before the Allman Brothers were formed.
Not forgotten.
Loved Pete Carr. Look up Leblanc and Carr.
Bob Seger is unique in his ability to pull together storytelling, singing, and musical composition and performance.
Bob Seger is a treasure. His music and lyrics are amazing. Great storyteller. Please check out “Against the Wind”. It’s a beautiful song with a fantastic piano/guitar solo in the middle. Anything by this man is wonderful! 🌺✌️
A perfect blend of vocals and instrumentation. Beautiful.
When you can make an instrument sing or cry, that is a true gift. There are few who have that gift.
Well said
The studio musicians on this track were known as The Muscle Shoals rthymn section. Legendary dudes who played on more r&b and rock hits than you can imagine.
Hearing this song tonight took me right back too high school with the realization how important this man's music was in my high school and, college days. Thank you both for that.
You can't go wrong with Bob Seger, how can one person have so much talent? Great song and reaction, as always, love the channel!
Perfect example of a " haunting " song. It reaches deep into your soul and wells up into your memories and eyes. This song always takes me back to a bowling alley in 70's New Orleans. My friends and I were on a bowling team. This song was a hit, and the alley played it a lot. Along with " Easy " by The Commodores. Two slow songs that got this rocker engaging the melody. I wasn't the only one, I'm sure. Y'all rock. Asia - your vocal renditions of the songs are cool. You have a killer falsetto. Keep on keepin' on, you two. Your videos are a part of my daily ritual. And I know this is true for lots of other Reaction Videos channels viewers.
That riff… so wistful. This was always one of my favorites. Turn The Page and We’ve Got Tonight are 2 more of his best.
You must try "Shame on The Moon". Bob's vocals are amazing.
Love this song! One of segers best in my opinion!
Bob Seger was on a short list of artists known for the quality of their live shows, and his 1981 album, Nine Tonight, is a concert recording. This song is also on that album and alto sax plays that wailing guitar part that repeats throughout. The solo is still played on electric guitar, but is harder and grimier. Excellent live versions of all his hits, such as "Her Strut," if you haven't heard that one.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY BJ, We share Bday together, MINE is the 11th, have an awesome day bro
Bob truly paid his dues playing in bars or any gig. Thankfully someone found him and put him on the map - older than others.
One of my favorite tune by Bob. The emotions just show through with this one .
"This riff is everything right now."
Lol. BJ, you are a wordsmith, sir!
Everything thing he does is GREAT . Excellent story telling.
One of my absolute favorites by the greatest Rock & Roller ever.
Bob Seger writes poetry and delivers them though powerful lyrics and beautiful music. Hes in the music writers hall of fame for good reason. His roots were as great guitarist and piano player. He combines it all together to make some of the most beautiful ballads and bangers that make you dance! If you've listened to "Live Bullett" ...you know I'm talking about!
That weeping lead guitar isn't merely a sad sound; it is the sound of sadness. It is sadness, in a soulful, plaintive remembrance. The lyrics and the music are perfectly suited to each other.
Sunspot Baby and Rambling Gambling man check them out enjoy yall
Bob's songs are like a catalog of my life.
Love this song. Such a haunting guitar riff in this song. You can just imagine looking down the street at night with the neon lights flashing.
My favorite Seger tune.
We went to see him live just last year and he opened with this. Instantly traveled back in time 40 years to high school. The entire show was great for all us old timers that could just let it wash over us. We were THE luckiest generation growing up in the 60s and 70s to have been listening to the greatest music ever. Such an amazing time to be alive
Bob is one of the great storytellers of music and this is one of his best.Plus he's accompanied by brilliant musicians on all his albums. The weakness of modern songs is they are too verbose with no instrumental interludes like this amazing guitar in this song. It's fine to sing lyrics but words alone don't make you remember a song or give it soul, the music has to grab you and want to hear it again.People remember a guitar riff or beat before they really listen to the lyrics. And a bad song with plenty of lyrics is still a bad song and no one wants to remember it.
My favorite Bob Seger song!
Try "Roll Me Away". It's a banger. ❤
Also Fire Lake and Shame on the Moon
The group called sneaker. The song is “ more than just the two of us” a hidden gem from early 80’s. Check it out
I don't comment much on these channels, but Bob Seger touches me. He was the singer that I first started listening too. He was on my AM radio, the Big 8, CKLW out of Detroit/Windsor in the mid 60's... He had many hits and his ballads are some of the best ever. Ole Time Rock and Roll, Turn the Page and many others. My favorite of all time.
Thank you for doing this one. Haven’t seen other reactors do this one, but not u guys! Ur great! My fav Seger song. Love the guitar! Thank you peace ✌️
BRO! Your reaction tells me you know EXACTLY what Bob is sayin in this song.
Another record i had as a kid. I used to have a portable record player that looked like a tweed suitcase. There was a built in 6x9 speaker on each end that could detach and you could stretch them around the room for surround sound. Had every genre of music in my box. This was before we got boom boxes. Fun times.
I think we all have a main street type of event in our lives🤘❤️
As deep as his music was this was my favorite. I finally got to see him on his Final Tour and it was 3 1/2 hours of
AWESOME😎 He had the biggest bass saxophone I've ever seen😲
This is what music sounded like before everything turned into plastic.
I seen him live at the World Series Of Rock in Cleveland in 1980....he is even better live!!!
I grew up with the greatest music. It’s still being played today. Bob Seger killed it then and still has that wonderful voice and he’s like me, he’s pushing 80 yrs old.
Absolute GREATNESS, massive classic! Love it. 👍
Bob Seger Detroit Grit. Try Back in 72! 🤠🇺🇸🇨🇦🐴
Bob Seger is one of my favorite rock storytellers. A “must have” in every collection in the 70s & 80s 👍
Some of my favorites are Against the Wind, Fire Lake, Night Moves, Turn the Page, Main Street, Horizontal Bop….he’s just sooo good 😊
Recorded in my hometown, Muscle Shoals Alabama!
These old songs bring me back to being a kid in the 70s and my mom took us everywhere. To the bars and friend's parties and we heard all these songs. Today's music doesn't give those same memories.
Saw Bob Seger and tuned in ASAP. Love this singer/songwriter. Please keep the Seger songs comin' HOLLYWOOD NIGHTS next?? HER STRUT?? SHAME ON THE MOON?? Don't think u can possibly gone wrong
This is one of my favorites songs from him...but everything he sings is GOLD.
One of the few very best songwriters and performers. Bob Seger the legend.
Listen to "Roll Me Away" next, it's another song that tells a story, one of his best.
I was wondering when you would get around to this song. A fantastic singer, songwriter, entertainer, solid kickass band and decades of hits = A trip to be immortalized in The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
BJ's face is exactly like mine when I hear Bob Seger.....very relatable music
Bob does nostalgia, wistfulness & longing so well.
Best song, best music, best story telling, best voice, best era for music.
love the way his voice fades in the end as he walks down Mainstreet.
My heart melts everytime I play my man Bob and this song is but one of my favorites! TURN IT UPPPPP!!!
BJ hit the nail on the head. You guys need to start selling shirts that say "That was such a Vibe".
I love watching you guys give each other a hard time, especially while listening to great music! lol
Sorry I'm late, but happy Birthday BJ
I remember when this came out……..still not tired of that riff.
Every now and then I'll go up in the loft of the barn and jam with some Bob Segar to this day.
I simply love the albums Bob Seger did with the Swampers... The Swampers are responsible for more great music than most people know.
Bob Seger - lead vocals
Muscle Shoals Rhythm Section
Barry Beckett - keyboards
Pete Carr - lead guitar, acoustic guitar
Roger Hawkins - drums, percussion
David Hood - bass
Jimmy Johnson - rhythm guitar
Great to see you enjoying this one.
I remember being completely hypnotized by this song when I was about 16.
Glad you guys keep on digging into Bob Seger's extraordinary catalogue!
Roll Me Away, Feel Like a Number, Horizontal Bop, Betty Lou, The Famous Final Scene, Hollywood Nights…..
Oh yes! I love your variety and flair, wonderful, keep up the good work, thanks I love the channel! ❤😂😊😮.
I just LOVE YOU GUYS your authenticity, and open minded souls, and more! Keep on keepin on
Great song by a great artist. So many great songs to check out. Bob still my favorite after all these years.
Nice job y'all, Fire Lake, Against The Wind and You'll Acomp'ny Me are very good also
In 1964 or 65 I lived in Saginaw Michigan. We had a teenage nightclub called Daniels Den. Bob used to play there and he came up from Detroit. He had an old beat up car that when he was leaving we used to give him a push to get it started and send him home to Detroit. Memories. RMR
The best music ever I wish would be the same wow just the Instrumental part of Bob Seger’s music on every album he’s the best of the best back when I remember that’s what I fell in love with growing up my mothers music when she used to play it and Bob Seger was always my favorite!
Saw Bob Seger in my city for the first time in the summer of 1978 😎🎸😊
I've tried to play this on guitar for over 30 years. The tuning is a not set at a standard pitch. It required me to tune to this song. IMO, they slowed the tape down when they mixed the master.
Stripper song. Loved that girl. Unlike the other strippers she looked so young and sweet. Right?!
Saw Bob Seger open for KISS with Ted Nugent at Anaheim Stadium in the 70’s. Great concert and Bob Seger killed it with his vocal story-telling!! His song Old Time Rock n Roll made Tom Cruise a mega star in the pop classic film Risky Business 🍿
Bob sever really never put out a bad tune
Hi please listen to Remy Shand his voice is so smooth he was on Motown and sang with Smokey Robinson listen to to his videos on vevo Take A Message and Rocksteady you won’t regret it !!
Against the Wind and Night Moves.
Oh, those 1970s songs! Why can't anyone write and perform music like this anymore? Glad we have video, and reccords.
BJ is so funny! Asia is the logical one! Love your content! Keep with the Seger reactions!
Also just love that beautiful guitar along with his raspy voice. 👍👍👍
Night moves was one of the first records I ever bought. Swoon material for a 15 year old.
My friend's and I saw Seger and the Silver Bullet Band in 1986 at Madison Square Garden. The concert was SO FANTASIC, we scalped the tickets and saw them again two days later at Brendan Byrne Arena, East Rutherford, NJ.
Recorded at Muscle Shoals sound studio in Alabama with the best studio band there was they recorded on hundreds of hits songs that you've heard of
Bob's voice has always melted my heart ❤️
A song by Bob that is not reacted to very often is Famous Final Scene. I hope you give it a listen.
Give "Sunburst" and "Ship of Fools" a listen. More story telling at its best
The Main Street Bob is singing about is in Ann Arbor, MI. Where he use to hangout back in the day.
"Night Moves" is my favorite Bob Seger song.
