    Everytime I hear this song it takes me back to being 9 or 10 riding with my Pops in our old pickup truck to water our cattle in the early morning before sun up. The old 8track blaring with Pops singing the only part he knew “down on main street” English being our second language. My Dad was the strongest man I knew RIP Pops..

    Bob Seger is a great rock singer, songwriter & musician known for his raspy powerful voice. He wrote & recorded songs that dealt with love, women & blue-collar themes. He had so many great songs especially in the 70's-80's such as "Ramblin' Gamblin' Man", "Night Moves", "Turn The Page", "Still The Same", "Hollywood Nights", "Against The Wind", "You'll Accomp'ny Me", "Shame On The Moon", "Roll Me Away", "Like A Rock", "Shakedown", "We've Got Tonight" & "Old Time Rock & Roll".

  • @leannewilson7184
    @leannewilson7184 2 года назад +98

    🔻Song Facts: In Bob’s youth, “Seger wrote this song about his high school years in Ann Arbor, Michigan.”
    “The actual street Seger sings about in this song is Ann Street, which was off of Main Street in Ann Arbor. Seger recalled to the Chicago Sun-Times: "It was a club. I can’t remember the name of the club, but the band that played there all the time was called Washboard Willie. They were a Delta and Chicago blues band. Girls would dance in the window. They were a black band, and they were very good. That’s where I would go but I was too young to get in. It wasn’t in a great part of town but college students loved to go there."

    Perfect example of a " haunting " song. It reaches deep into your soul and wells up into your memories and eyes. This song always takes me back to a bowling alley in 70's New Orleans. My friends and I were on a bowling team. This song was a hit, and the alley played it a lot. Along with " Easy " by The Commodores. Two slow songs that got this rocker engaging the melody. I wasn't the only one, I'm sure. Y'all rock. Asia - your vocal renditions of the songs are cool. You have a killer falsetto. Keep on keepin' on, you two. Your videos are a part of my daily ritual. And I know this is true for lots of other Reaction Videos channels viewers.

    Bob Seger was on a short list of artists known for the quality of their live shows, and his 1981 album, Nine Tonight, is a concert recording. This song is also on that album and alto sax plays that wailing guitar part that repeats throughout. The solo is still played on electric guitar, but is harder and grimier. Excellent live versions of all his hits, such as "Her Strut," if you haven't heard that one.

    Bob is one of the great storytellers of music and this is one of his best.Plus he's accompanied by brilliant musicians on all his albums.The weakness of modern songs is they are too verbose with no instrumental interludes like this amazing guitar in this song.It's fine to sing lyrics but words alone don't make you remember a song or give it soul,the music has to grab you and want to hear it again.People remember a guitar riff or beat before they really listen to the lyrics.And a bad song with plenty of lyrics is still a bad song and no one wants to remember it.

    I've tried to play this on guitar for over 30 years. The tuning is a not set at a standard pitch. It required me to tune to this song. IMO, they slowed the tape down when they mixed the master.

    Stripper song. Loved that girl. Unlike the other strippers she looked so young and sweet. Right?!

    Saw Bob Seger open for KISS with Ted Nugent at Anaheim Stadium in the 70’s. Great concert and Bob Seger killed it with his vocal story-telling!! His song Old Time Rock n Roll made Tom Cruise a mega star in the pop classic film Risky Business 🍿

    Oh, those 1970s songs! Why can't anyone write and perform music like this anymore? Glad we have video, and reccords.

    Night moves was one of the first records I ever bought. Swoon material for a 15 year old.

    My friend's and I saw Seger and the Silver Bullet Band in 1986 at Madison Square Garden. The concert was SO FANTASIC, we scalped the tickets and saw them again two days later at Brendan Byrne Arena, East Rutherford, NJ.

    A song by Bob that is not reacted to very often is Famous Final Scene. I hope you give it a listen.

    Give "Sunburst" and "Ship of Fools" a listen. More story telling at its best
