When me and my sisters were younger, we played this game. We could never get through the castle so my dad drew us a map. That's all I can remember about playing this game, and riding the motorbike, that was cool. Good memories.
Amazing!!! I remember struggling my ass off with this game and dying somewhere near the end and having to start all over again. Ah the good old days before the ability to save haha
Ahhhaaaaaa I LOOOOVE THIS !!! me n my big bro played that alll the time when we were kids!! Of course he kicked my butt in all sega mastersystem games but still hahah I LOVE THIS !!!!
According to Wikipedia in the original cartridge version Alex eats a rice ball. In the US, Australian and European versions the rice ball was replaced with a burger :)
Them were the days. This was my first videogame ever, inbuilt into the sega master system 2. I don't remember the music being so irritating though haha
Did anyone ever find the so called "The Box in Pink"? In the manual for the game it says "The Box in Pink -- Inside lies an important secret." I could link to the manual, but RUclips comments doesn't support links -_-
Ah, this brings back memories of me, 5 years old, watching my sister play her way through this game after school. I used to get so in to this game. And apparently, my mum used to play this while we were all at school haha! Oh, and paper head reminds me of a pack of fries for some reason 0_0 Euro/Aussie player here. Music sounds the same, but I do remember the hamburger. Guess they tried to make it more "Western" using the burger instead of the rice ball.
I never even knew about the Master System when I was a kid back in those days. I was an NES kid. But if I would have seen this back in the late 80s, I know I would have been amazed by these graphics.
Wasn't there a shortcut down one of the pots that those Octopus things sit on (the stage after stone head). I remember if you killed one you could get down the pot.
this game was epic! those ghosts or seals or whatever they are pissed me off so much though! And the bloody game of chance boss battles were just ridiculous.
Hahaha I put way too much emphasis on collecting all the money in the game. I never did complete it but was only 4 or 5 at the time. Looking forward to seeing how this all unfolds in part 2!
Hey, European players... is it my memory playing tricks on me, or is this music a tiny bit faster than the european version (hamburgers at the end of the level)?
Goddamn. This was my first own game. The SMS II was my first console. I could never finish the game back then. I've since beat it on emulators though. And yes, the EU version was slower. NTSC games had higher framerate/faster cycles than PAL.
This is just amazin man! This music has haunted me for years! Thanks so much for uploading them, takes me back years!
Thanks so much for uploading these vids. This is the first VG I played. Memories.
this is just about my favorite sega master system game of all time. i even like to play it to this day.
This totally brought back my childhood playing this with my bro and cuz. Great game play too, it made it more enjoyable to watch, good work!
Makes me feel like a kid again watching. Thanks for putting that up :)

This is one of the few video games that I'll sit threw and watch, and I just realized that this game existed today.
Like alot of people...besides atari 2600 games this game was one of the 1st games i ever played...and as a kid i was proud to say i beat the game.....however this videos run was way quicker then my time...i use to take ages checking everybox etc..thank you for posting...ill be wathcing the 2nd video now

Classic game! Thanks for posting!
Wow, that forest run with the motorbike was EPIC! I always thought using the bike in the forest was suicide - I never got past the first spike pit >_>
you sir, deserve my eternal respect
Amazing!!! I remember struggling my ass off with this game and dying somewhere near the end and having to start all over again. Ah the good old days before the ability to save haha

You are a beast at this game.
The Sega Master System. When games actually had Soul. Crappy Storylines I admit, but they had soul. Great Post!
Hehe- it's entirely predictable, actually- It's the same every time :)
Great run btw, bring back some memories!
SO MANY MEMORIES!
thumbs up for alex kidd as your favorite racer in sega all-stars racing!!!
first video game i ever played, all my memories of this game are really intimidating.
Part of my entire childhood in 15 minutes
@alexwmusic i think its the box in the very last level where you have to do a certain sequence
Great game!
Is this the u.s or japanese version?
I remember having to collect hamburgers to progress through the levels, not doughnuts.
this is one of the best games of all time
Alex Kidd has nothing to defend himself with but his FISTS OF FURY!
loved this game so much when i was a little boy. yet a great game
simply the best action platformer for the 90s !
Did anyone ever find the so called "The Box in Pink"? In the manual for the game it says "The Box in Pink -- Inside lies an important secret." I could link to the manual, but RUclips comments doesn't support links -_-
@Brez4132 No, he wasn't actually. It was Opa-Opa from Fantasy Land then Alex Kidd, then Sonic.
Wow...I came back 16 years ago in the tunnel of time...
@Brez4132 Nope, Sega's first Mascot was Opa Opa from the game "Fantasy Zone", then Alex, & finally Sonic.
6:14 those thunder effects. EPIC!
One of my favorite SMS games.
I didn't know it was sold oversea. 'cause its rice ball.
I'm glad that you,a lot of people haven't forgot it yet.
@luedriver indeed, didnt need a cartridge for it aswell, just turn it on, and this dude came up
the forest level at 5:09 is insanely hard
I remember being 4 years old and reaching it countless times, only to die in the wooden stake pits
i remember playing this game back in the day, took me an age to master
this was my first computer game, it came in the sega master system 2...
first game Alex Kidd series and best-selling video games ever
Those are some fierce sounding thunder clouds..
Man this shit was built into our master system, I played it so much but never got anywhere on it
Alex the Kidd this game was great used to love the music from the last level
Ah, this brings back memories of me, 5 years old, watching my sister play her way through this game after school. I used to get so in to this game. And apparently, my mum used to play this while we were all at school haha! Oh, and paper head reminds me of a pack of fries for some reason 0_0
Euro/Aussie player here. Music sounds the same, but I do remember the hamburger. Guess they tried to make it more "Western" using the burger instead of the rice ball.
man this bring back memories :)
i had this game when it came out, i was 6. I just got done WIth Dead Space 2. Wow games have come along way
I wonder if we would have seen more Alex Kidd games if Sonic never came around? He was Sega's mascot before Sonic after all.
@Jaycasablancas it told you the thoughts of the levels boss for rock, paper, scissors
When i was 8-9 years old i finished this game only 1 or 2 times, today I'm unable to finish it ! It was my first video game for me !
@Brez4132 I think he was their 2nd mascot... I think they had someone else before him...
@Brez4132 Yep.
At 4:20 whatdoes the pink box with the yellow star do? I always wondered
I never even knew about the Master System when I was a kid back in those days. I was an NES kid. But if I would have seen this back in the late 80s, I know I would have been amazed by these graphics.
Wow this brings back memories...the furthest I ever got was the level at 5:09, which looking back is pretty good considering I was about 4.
Wasn't there a shortcut down one of the pots that those Octopus things sit on (the stage after stone head). I remember if you killed one you could get down the pot.
wow you're super good at this game.
still have this on megadrive with the console how it takes me back
You left your brother Egle in the first castle. You're a meanie! :)
This was my first game. The flying head of the villains scared me when I was 4.
why did i watch all of this.. ive never seen or heard of this game in my life
i was a child and i played that in black and white 12" tv good memories
was there a possibility to save this game? it took the hole day and at the end allways game over :DDD
I'm having a huge, I say I'm having a huge nostalgia attack!
what was that little star in a circle for, in the cave level?? i never knew
this game was epic! those ghosts or seals or whatever they are pissed me off so much though! And the bloody game of chance boss battles were just ridiculous.
first game i ever played and still my favourite
I always used to think the ghosts were severed walrus heads... now I see what they really are, after all these years. -_-
I never did manage to complete this game... Those damn rock paper scissors bosses always got me :(
my childhood... in 15 minutes...
i never finished this game. i saw my mum and uncle do it all the time, but Janken always kicked my ass
@ti83master Euro player here, sounds the same as i remember it
Soundtrack of my childhood
What's he eating at the end of each level in this video? When I used to play years ago, there was a burger at the end of the level.
this game was stupidly hard. I always got so excited after getting past that sodding frog! lol
old game..but still he is alive in my mind
how can you predict what the bosses is going to pick in "Rock, Paper, Scissors"?? :D
The whole thing appears sped up - the music and the playing. I have the Australian (PAL) version.
Hahaha I put way too much emphasis on collecting all the money in the game. I never did complete it but was only 4 or 5 at the time. Looking forward to seeing how this all unfolds in part 2!
What the hell is Alex Kidd eating in the cut scenes between levels? Anyone know? They are those things you collect at the end of each level.
Odd!!!
wait, you can shoot with the helicopter thingy??? why didn't i know this all those years ago :'(
@lfclotr Me too!
Master System was epic!!It had 3d glasses and memory card in the 80s
Que saudade !!!
Joguei muito este jogo quando eu era criança.
Do you know you can skip messages pressing the pause button just before they appear?
I remember playing this when i was 5 years old at least and i'm now 20 ^.^
great memories ty
@Vancouverjason1 why not?
@splattyfish It's only luck the first time, then you remember what they picked the next time you play.
Hey, European players... is it my memory playing tricks on me, or is this music a tiny bit faster than the european version (hamburgers at the end of the level)?
I wish SEGA would release this at the apple app store! :D
Goddamn. This was my first own game. The SMS II was my first console. I could never finish the game back then. I've since beat it on emulators though.
And yes, the EU version was slower. NTSC games had higher framerate/faster cycles than PAL.
Here it's quite clear how much better the hardware of Sega Master System had in comparison with the Nintendo Entertainment System one.
