It's true, every ship in the line is VERY fun. Everything from Tier 1 to Tier 10 is awesome and very enjoyable. Coming from a yamato, des moines, and shimakaze owner. Very very fun tech tree.

"Pensacola is well armored." Do they even play their own game? The Pensacola is not a bad ship but armor is definitely not one of it's strengths.
Chris Fisher It may perhaps be well armored compared to its predecessors, but at higher tiers the caliber of the guns improve too, so I suppose that explains why it doesn't feel like it's well armored.

@@Fingon995 If the Pepsicola was properly tiered, it would most certainly be "well armored". It doesnt even belong in the game, as it doesnt belong in either tier 5 or 6, but somewhere in between. They should have had the original tech tree as Omaha -> Brooklyn -> Cleveland -> Baltimore -> Oregon City -> Des Moines, because it makes technological sense if you look at the timeline of US cruisers.

World of Warships Even though I've played all classes, Cruisers are for me the most versatile and fun however, if im in the mood to dish out damage, Battleships take the cake as pure destructive fun.

Dominick Caimotto Since it covers the time frame, I hope they bring in the Chinese and Vietnamese, along with Korean, ships of those wars. The reason I mention Chinese is because they backed up the other countries in their wars.

It is worth taking note of the fact that many players do not consider the Phoenix an upgrade to the st. Louis. The reduced armor and reduction of guns doesn't make it an upgrade. The damage per second a Phoenix makes is roughly the same as the st. Louis.
Also please note that almost every hit the Phoenix receives will set it on fire or damage its rudder.
Overall my personal opinion is that the st. Louis is better than the Phoenix and is often underestimated in higher tier battles. This video states that the st. Louis isn't a good ship for tier 5 battles but I've seen it do well even against tier 6 ships which is why many people keep their st. Louis.

Also please note, that tier 5's do not get scout planes, they get a fighter squadron, which is a little different than a scout plane. murmansk has a scout plane, which extends its firing range. the fighter squadrons do not extend firing range.
drats666 Man, I loved my Phoenix, keep long range engagement, set ennemy battleship on fire and then on mid or late game, get closer and use torpedos. THe St-Louis is cool too, but is't simply not the same playstyle.

Des Moines needs to be either removed or the IJN TX CA needs to be reworked to be equally playable against it. You cant have a post WW2 cruiser vs Wartime paper prototype that doesn't even come close to comparing. Currently, the IJN CL/CA teir isent worth playing that much as the USN ships have, for a lack of a better word, the edge in most aspects aside from torpedoes. I play both navies, and would like to see atleast some sort of compromise or balance before the Royal navy is implemented.
Tasche CJK I don't follow. The Zao is hands down the better ship. It is absolutely disgusting in it's current implementation. I still love my DM, but the IJN T10 CA is a beast. Only the Mogami and Zao though; everything else is underwhelming compared to their USN counter parts.
well, the zao aint bad, the triple 203s are great. Aside from the better range of the IJN 203 by 1-1.5km, the rof vs. the DM is like a revolver vs an automatic. The DM wins in HP, Knots, RoF, turning radius. Having the torpedos is nice, but rarely do they become a factor when most fights at T8+ are ranged based, aside from DDs doing their usual fare.

I've traveled to Des Moines, Iowa the place this ship is named after, and they don't pronounce it that way. They say it more like Da Moines.

u know what funny? how in the beginning it says you 'need not skip any cruisers in this line' but the uss pensacola is such a bad ship, (cough* cough* war gaming plz buff) that I recommend just getting enough free xp to research then skip it.
or u could just stop grinding us cl's at Cleveland (the best cruiser for its tier) and then grind German or Japanese cl's

Us cruisers lack the armor and firepower to be competitive, rather just play a battleship its the same thing but WHIt armor and guns.

Mathias Sabaki they have confirmed that there is no way in HELL, it would be too complicated, they could not implement sonar for historical accuracy, and could you imagine, after a long time of being unexpectedly killed by torpedoes, EVERYBODY IN THE GAME GOING TO SUBMARINES THAT THEY COULD NOT SEE EVER? Give that a thought. And what would they use as cap ponts under the ocean, where you could be carried by currents and be in constant danger? Or would you rather be in the wide open sea where the enemy team would just line up and launch a HUGE spread of torpedoes because there are no obstructions.

Pensacola is straight trash. It's just bad all around. Too slow and it ends up bottom tier often because it's got good guns which means it's lack of armor is devastating. It's not worth grinding through that piece of sh!t so this tech tree effectively ends with Omaha.
