For sure. I always think refs should go for caution, even if the crowd and fans hate them for it. They have to be the one protect the fighters. It always makes me cringe when refs in boxing and MMA just let a fighter get pummeled and beat nearly to death without a stoppage knowing they are probably suffering some pretty severe unnecessary brain damage.

@@tonyg5132 For sure, MMA has been better about stoppages compared to Boxing by a lot. Boxing you just regularly see dudes brain cells vanishing and no stoppage. Letting guys just get tee'd off on with no defense or getting up way too many times from knockdowns. Seeing some of my favorite boxers just stumble through sentences after they retire has made me really look differently at those situations.
They will of course make some mistakes and stop too early, but again, I'd much rather that happen than a fight go too far and fighter's suffer needlessly.

Both Tyson and Lewis are two of the hardest punchers and greatest we've ever had. His other 2 loses were late round stoppages when he was younger, greener and run out of steam late and both were World champion in Witherspoon and Bonecrusher Smith. Both solid fighters too.

Look at his 1986 fight with journeyman James Tillis (a guy with over 20 losses) Mike struggled for 10 rounds and even lost 4 out of those 10 rounds on the judges score cards, many fan believe Tillis actually won the fight!! in 1987 he (Mike) looked poor against James Smith (one of the weakest champs ever with a 19-8 record at the time) Mike just get rushing in and getting caught in clinches, couldn't even drop smith over 12 rounds and even got badly hurt by smith in the last round. He looked bad against tony tubbs to, just swinging wildly looking for one big punch, actually got outboxed by Tubbs until landing a big left hook. Rooneys influence on Mike is very overrated.

I miss those days with the huge red bow tie in the middle of the light blue ring as a kid with my pops and uncles and all the guys. Watching Mike Tyson destroy one boxer after another. Boxing has never been the same.

Even though I love Mike Tyson I do have to admit that Frank Bruno looks abnormally good for a 61 year old, hell, I can't imagine any guy not wanting to look like Frank Bruno at that age.

To call Bruno a bodybuilder, is an insult. He lasted 5 rnds against a prime Tyson, a lot better than most did. He also won the WBC title, and rematched Tyson, rather than avoid him. He also had a decent effort against Lennox Lewis.

Like it or hate it, Mike Tyson is the youngest boxing heavyweight champion ever at the age of 20 years, the record that still stands the test of time...
Tell Lenox, Evander,, Buster to train their children and grandchildren boxing so they can try to break this timeless record in human lifetime ....and they will never break....Until we all die, nobody will break this record

Tyson really lacked the elusiveness and head movement he was famous for in this fight. I think he had fired Kevin Rooney at this point and that was a clear mistake on Mike's part.
