Thanks! I've been playing this song for forever, and I knew parts of what I was playing was wrong, so I faked it so it sounded okay. And now, here's your wonderful video unraveling a mystery of 30 years! And what a great tutorial. I wish you would do more!
Hi Susan, thanks for your nice comment. If you like the solo career of Steve Hackett, I released a book/songbook with a lot of song “The Sound of Steve Hackett” you can buy in the Hackett’s website store.hackettsongs.com/products/the-sound-of-steve-hackett. Very best!
Thank you for pointing out the right hand picking technique. That really makes it special. Also the ending of Broadway was revelatory with the 14th position chording. Hope you are doing well all these years later.
Good stuff!!!Gabriel, Hackett era timeless music!Oooo yeah the guitar instruction is far over due and awesome! ! Great Job!I'll be looking forward to more. Yes I'm excited!!!
Beautiful job! I know it’s 10 years after this video was published but… I worked on this song a lot many years ago and I’d like to offer one suggestion. I believe that the 2nd to last chord (before the F#/B) is not a 2nd repeat of the chords before it but rather on the last one (“have I come to…”) it’s x06600 (x A G# C# B E) and it’s a single strum, not arpeggiated. Cheers!
Hi my friend! Thank you for your feedback. I'm glad to know that you enjoyed the song. I apologize for the poor quality of the video; I plan to upload a better version soon. As for your suggestions, I'm working on my following two books with Steve Hackett, "Selling England by the Pound" and "Spectral Mornings." After that, I plan to work on "The Lamb" album. I recently checked some songs and played this one with Steve a few weeks ago, and it is like what I am showing in the video; to confirm, is it about the part at 5:42? I made another video for a song on this album that you might like. All the best! ( ruclips.net/video/Wa8b9BfU42Q/видео.html )
Hey Paulo, This is a tough song! Thanks for the warning!! Just kidding. Its not bad until I tried to put it all together. To get an even flow going that's what is tough. But if it was easy I wouldn't progress as a guitar player. Thanks again!
Niclas Welin Thanks Niclas, this guitar is a Godin Multiac Nylon SA (Synth access) made in Canada. Is a really amazing guitar, really good to play. Take care!
Hi, friend...I'm on first level of music career and this style could be the same used in Under The Bridge by Red Hod Chili Peppers? Cuckoo Cocoon and Under The Bridge sounds really similar for me, there is a name to refer to this style?...I'll be waiting for your reaction :)
Hi my friend, you are right, the begining of the Under sounds like Cuckoo, the main difference is because Steve use maj7 and Red use major chord. Good catch. Take care
I cried with joy when I heard those first 3 chords coming out of my own guitar. Thank you
Have fun! :)
Beautiful song. Thanks for the demonstration. The final chord is particularly mesmerizing.
