Recently bought a G923 and ACC and I am amazed with the FBB and Trueforce of this combo....I can feel the engine reving, tranny shifts, road surface, debris and FFB is pretty damn strong which i had to lower to half way...the McLaren 720S not only sounds amazing but you can feel the raw power through the wheel. Coming from a G25 about 12 years ago the g923 is a huge step up especially the brake pedal feel.
What about the FFB deadzone? I have a G29 (prev model) and I had to write an entire software to get rid of the huge dead zone and the non linear FFB (my program is named Steering Wheel Master). Without the Trueforce and the "road effects", do you feel an empty zone in the steering during the straight?
Today I noticed a play on the wheel, in the forum people suggested I open it up and tighten the screws. I did and the problem was not the screws coming loose but a huge crack from bottom to top of housing. I just watched your video and thank you for opening them up. This issue has been around since the G27 and well known in terms of failure. Your video showed me the new wheel (in terms of design of this case) is no difference so.. I would not be buying the Logitech again. I’ll rewatch some of your reviews as I search for a replacement. Thanks Will, you saved me making a mistake. I appreciate it.
I don't think Logitech has made the changes that they have to necessarily entice upgrades, but more to keep their wheel offering relevant for the times. They are doing the same thing they have been doing since the G25 (kind of). They refresh the wheel every 5 years (4 years between the 25 and 27) to give it relevant with modern features and the wheel retails for $400 (US). I think the G25 was more, but when I get a G27 back in the day, its retail price was $400. I didn't pay the retail price. and like the previous wheels if you don't like the $400 retail price just wait a bit for it to go down. It always goes down. It went down really quick (almost immediately) on the G29/G920 (which released at a retail price of $400) because of the competition from the Thrustmaster T300 which was around the same price and had released the year before.
I don't like people comparing it to thrustmaster or fanatec gear, a cls elite with a shifter and pedals is 750 dollars plus, while a t300rs gt is around 500-600 dolalrs with a shifter, and the g923 is even at full price thats inflated with a shifter at 450 dollars. the prices are not even comparable, for a fanatec setup you could get 2 g923's.
As an entry level sim racer this is the price point and experience that I'm willing to tolerate for an improved experience over a controller. I love my g920 so this was an insta-buy for me. I'm willing to use this for a while before committing to the next tier up.
If you already have a G920, i don’t get why you wouldn’t just save up the extra £200 over what you’d spend on the g923 and get a csl elite or even a clubsport. I just wonder what the thought process is. It’s still a gear driven ff system so it’s going to lack nuance, sounds to me like true force is just a vibrator
@@dreamcrusher112 . I the think true force is a good addition, however, I agree with you that the g920 to g923 makes no sense for the OP. Save the money for that future purchase. Maybe they were wanting it for PlayStation?
Really appreciate the depth of this review, I didn't watch all of it as I'm not looking for a new wheel, but nice to be able to watch the sections that I was interested in. You were very balanced clearly have done your research so will definitely recommend your channel!
Hmm so what to make of this? As someone who still has a G29 for daily use at home, but (until recent lockdown) had regular access to a DD2, given the lack of fundamental changes such as the actual motors/peak torque output this was never going to be the kind of upgrade I was looking to make, but it's good to hear trueforce is valuable even on a product like this - based on your observations in ACC vs iRacing I'm thinking that iRacing is able to use physics/telemetry-driven effects by default (Lawrence Dusoswa's look at trueforce in iRacing earlier this week at least showed that in the app.ini file you can switch between physics-driven effects and audio-driven effects) The RRP though does it no favours - prices it against Thrustmaster's T300 + T3PA GT pedals going by a retailer such as PC Case Gear in Australia (which I could swear is about A$150 higher than it was pre-pandemic) and I'd rather have a belt FFB system over a gear FFB system with added effects Was going to say I've seen G29/920's sell for A$360 (last year) vs their RRP of A$500 but that's gone out the window it seems with shortages and logistics - so while i'd hope a similar percentage discount would make its way to retailers pricing I think we're out of luck there for the time being Good review Will :) though did you mean to talk about the thickness of the wheel rim twice at 9:18 ? xD P.S. Still want to see Logitech go for a "G Pro" wheel base with a belt drive and some more torque plus a load cell brake package - given they've thrown their support behind some serious Project Cars 2 global tournaments why wouldn't they invest in that market segment which would get them more traction among more enthusiast buyers?
Pretty much mate. Thanks for picking up the editing error too. That’s fixed now. Yeah there’s two aspects to TrueForce, the audio and the telemetry data. It seems ACC may only be using the audio data from my testing but I didn’t want to elaborate on it too much as it’s likely to change before release.
@@boostedmedia ACC on Console (PS4) SUX!! I dropped it. NO telemetry data, no audio or video setup, no FoV or seat adjustments AND no keyboard (button box)!
Thomas Rogan problem is the consoles suck in that aspect. They are for gaming but not for this kind of simulators. Rarely a game has fov adjustments on consoles.
hello, today I bought the g923 to start with the racing simulators in the X series and pc, I am happy with the purchase, it is my first steering wheel that I buy
Your review is great, after watching it i have the view as you. If it was cheaper, i could justify recommending it. But at its current price point, trueforce just isnt enough of a reason for me to recommend it to people looking for a wheel. Especially if its their first. I will still recommend the g920/g29 first, and if someone has g923 money burning a hole in their pocket, i would have to recommend they buy one of the t300 or a tx wheel sets that include the t3pa pedals, or save a little extra and go fanatec. The g923 is just far too expensive for what it is. Thank you for such an honest and thorough review, i will be sharing it around. 👍
@@AFlyingSwive I think they will drop in price quite quickly and expect lots of discount offers at different times so for certain you can get it cheaper that what is retailing now.

Dont buy from logitech directly, wait till its sold through amazon, pcworld or box computers here in the uk. Logitech always charge rrp on their products via their own webstore, but other retailers may lower prices. Especially woth regards to the g920/g29. Which can often be purchased for £200 with the driving force shifter included.
18:50 The plastic tabs isnt what provides spring back on the paddles, they are just buffers for the switch, on the paddles you have 2 bits of extruded sprung metal tabs on each side that provide the spring back for the paddles
I just got my G923. I was wondering on standard settings in Assetto Corsa Competizione, when the car is idling it shakes quite a lot. It shakes the whole desk. Did you experience this and is it normal. Also the noise sounds like something rattling inside with TrueForce on. I heard that when you tested but the idle shake I am not sure on.
I remember I upgrading to a G27 many years ago from a G25. Was not impressed with the FFB compared to the well worn G25 so I kept the old wheel! Bet it's still going strong.
Great Review! I was waiting for this. But one question: Is the rubber stop in the break pedal, which you didn't show in the video, the same in the G923 as in the G29/920? It's important because it was this rubber stop that had many ppl modifying their brake pedal with some replacing it or removing it entirely.
Sorry if my question seems obvious but my English is'nt perfect. So you mansion the G27 frequently and the G920 but at the beginning of the video and on the Title you are referring to the new "TrueForce" G923... So just to be clear You did teardown a G920 with a G923 or a G27 and G920 ?... or a G27 and a G923 ?
In my two G29 wheels, the wiring loom from the wheel to the PCB in the base failed with the wire/s snapping internally. There are forums dedicated to repairing this by ordering new looms from China and replacing the stock loom with a beefed up loom with thicker gauge wires. When the original wires failed, the wheel wouldn't calibrate properly and display all sorts of strange behaviors. It was thought to be a driver issue but nope, hardware failure/
Great review. Do you know what the USB polling rate of the new wheel is? (and of the last gen wheels?) I don't mean the new FF polling rate but the actual steering encoder USB polling rate. The much older Logi wheels were 125hz but I've never been able to get the numbers on the newer wheels.
Nothing particularly new since the introduction of G25. Logitech still using old twin-motor gear technology which was a mistake, since it makes wheel very clunky and also forced firmware writers to introduce big center deadzone. FFB is weak and pale by modern standards yet thing is quite robust and can survive a lot of punishment. I have been racing with G27 for 8 years, and know every screw in it's design. It has some modding capabilities but honestly whole concept is wrong and it is better to buy some Thrustmaster or Fanatec product.
The thing is, after doing some research and watching a few teardowns I have found that the G923 is identical inside to a G25 other than the fact that there is a different PCB in the G923.
Can i setup the wheel on my pc and use it on the console? or is the configuration software for pc use only? Because, I can setup the wheel ingame but can I set it up twice? I hope you understand my question :P
Exhaustive and specific material ;) I have one question: wasn't there a rubber cube in the brake pedal from the G920 model causing excessive hardness? I had one. Regards
Manage to pick up a second hand G923 for $200 AUD for my PS5 so a really great entry point wheel at that price. Really enjoying driving with it but I must say the lack of external handbrake is a real issue for game like Dirt Rally. It would be awesome if logitech had a shifter + handbrake combination that worked.
Came across one of these for half price and I couldn’t pass it up. Still plan on getting a Fanatec CSL DD but I figured I’d have some fun with this first. Great review!
Hello great video!! can you help me with a G920 that the led blinks rapidly and it says Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request failed)? It can be a firmware issue? I would program a dump if I had one. I searched online and found nothing. Or if you have another sugestion, If you want to help. Thanks!
Do the pedals of the logitech G923 have a rubber block like those of the G29? The rubber block in G29 pedals dont like nothing. Thanks a lot and good video.
My experience with Logitech software has been much different. Granted I haven't used it in several months since I'm on all Fanatec now but man I had nothing but issues with the G Hub software back when I owned the G920. FFB would constantly be bugged and I'd have to uninstall and reinstall logitech drivers about every other time I played a game. Tried everything I could to fix the issue with no luck What a hassle. The thing that solved it for me back then was actually ditching G Hub and getting the old Logitech Gaming Software. Didn't have an issue after that.
Is there any chance that the main board for the g29 is compatible with the g920? I cannot find the replacement main board for the g920 anywhere. Great video by the way
I scooped one up for $400 from Harvey Norman. Weirdly, it cost more to buy it in store rather than online. And the G29 and G920 actually cost more than the G923. One of the strangest pricings I’ve seen
the fact they had to make two versions of the wheel for diffrent consoles is proof that consoles are just not that amazing for sim racing, it should come down to the software not the hardware if the wheel should work, this wheel should have just been one version with a switch but I know especially from SONY thats a no no
If you want to compare what the new electronics add to non-TrueForce games, you can turn the closed loop off and back on again with cross+square+circle+triangle+minus and cross+square+circle+triangle+plus respectively.
The PS wheel still has more buttons than the Xbox wheel. So if you're playing on PC that's two more buttons you can map. But for the as far as those price tags go I'm glad I went and picked up a T300rs when I did. That being said I absolutely loved my G920.
Though I don't own either an xbox or play station console; I recently bought the g920, for the one reason an xbox controller has no issue working on a pc, where as the sony's controller does. I've read that though they are basically the same devices, it appears to me that the G923 has what appears to be because of the obviously different color. A thumb stick, am I correct in my assumption. Becasue haveing an actual joy stick on the wheel, would have been a great idea. After using a controller for year's and switching to a wheel.
I just spent $1300 on Fanatec instead. I've never owned a racing wheel so I'm taking a leap of faith here lol. I do own VR too though so getting a racing wheel was kinda necessary for full immersion.
I'm inclined on doing the same thing especially now after seeing what logitech did... tho I've decided to wait untill I finish college in 3 years when I'll hopefuly have a job and be on my own...
Help! Since you tore these down do you know what the clocking on the encoder is? I can't find any documentation as to what orientation the hall effect sensor should be corresponding to the center gear. If you have any idea please let me know! Edit: I just realized that since the encoder is skipping anyways but gets fixed on a reset it means that the wheel completely resets position each time so it doesn't matter what orientation the gear is in.
Personally I usd the fact that each pedal is an assembly to take it out of the casing and screw it to a stump. I put the brake too close to the gas. Piece of advice, if whe. You press a pedal your wheel resets then check the little connectors on that pedal, I ran into this a lot because mine are exposed, also do remember to secure the cable with that little piece they used in the casing, so you dont rip your pedal connectors off the wires. I did not find that out the hard way luckily.

Slightly different question, if you were going to buy a wheel well waiting for Thurstmaster to get back to you on a warranty issue (power supply died) on your T150, still budget conscious, would you recommend the G923 or the T300RS?
What's your opinion now Will that the price has dropped to $599? Should l still think about the fanatec eco system and upgrade as l go? Thanks for the awesome content.
I think it’s a great starting point at $599. Really depends on how far down the rabbit hole you expect to go. Baby step upgrades often end up costing significantly more over time. Although right now the 2nd hand market is strong.

Very good review!, on my new G923 there is a bit of movement if i hold the steering wheel as if there is some flex in the bearing, can you confirm if you had the same please
Currenty I have a G27 modded with a quick release wheel. I am a bit disappointed in that they didn't put some heatsinks on the motors. I had to dial force feedback down because in 1.5 hour races my motors started smelling. A bit more worried for the G923 since it throws more power at it. Any idea if that overheating issue is still the case for G923 @Boosted Media? Probably if this one breaks down a G920 is a better choice for me because of the lower price.
Big Oof for Logitech, i mean, i know its a entry level, but not even magnets on the shifters? 800$ for almost the same wheel? As a wheel, the G series is not bad, but as a series as it self, evolving is not the strongest here. The compatibility with previous mods because of the simplicity is nice, but making it more complicated would bring even better upgrades and mods, and it does not explain the change in price. But anyways, nice video, really simple and straight forward, really explaining everything, loved it.
I do own a G29 right now, and my wheel has over 4000 hours on it, which means that it's not in the best shape, but I like Logitech and I've been very happy with it, so probably going to get the G923 together with a Thrustmaster T8HA. Though, It's not for sale in Sweden yet but soon it is. I THINK that the wheel is good for someone like me, who has a very worn G29, but I would not think its necessary for the G923 wheel if your G29 is not worn.

@Mr Luken nope no empty zone...my only complaint with it is its noisy...the parts moving sounds like it's broken but it's completely normal.
@@RayRiv73 yes It's a little bit noisy... But the internal build quality is not bad.
I just bought the upgraded spring for the brake pedal
do u know where i can get a g 920 motherboard to purchase for replacement???? mines damage i'd really appreciate it man tnx much....
Can’t wait to watch the whole thing love your channel will
I don't like people comparing it to thrustmaster or fanatec gear, a cls elite with a shifter and pedals is 750 dollars plus, while a t300rs gt is around 500-600 dolalrs with a shifter, and the g923 is even at full price thats inflated with a shifter at 450 dollars. the prices are not even comparable, for a fanatec setup you could get 2 g923's.
On 30:20, I can confirm that you get mechanical bump stop when adjusting rotation, but you have to be in game to get that. Using G29 btw.
yup, true
Hmm so what to make of this?
As someone who still has a G29 for daily use at home, but (until recent lockdown) had regular access to a DD2, given the lack of fundamental changes such as the actual motors/peak torque output this was never going to be the kind of upgrade I was looking to make, but it's good to hear trueforce is valuable even on a product like this - based on your observations in ACC vs iRacing I'm thinking that iRacing is able to use physics/telemetry-driven effects by default (Lawrence Dusoswa's look at trueforce in iRacing earlier this week at least showed that in the app.ini file you can switch between physics-driven effects and audio-driven effects)
The RRP though does it no favours - prices it against Thrustmaster's T300 + T3PA GT pedals going by a retailer such as PC Case Gear in Australia (which I could swear is about A$150 higher than it was pre-pandemic) and I'd rather have a belt FFB system over a gear FFB system with added effects
Was going to say I've seen G29/920's sell for A$360 (last year) vs their RRP of A$500 but that's gone out the window it seems with shortages and logistics - so while i'd hope a similar percentage discount would make its way to retailers pricing I think we're out of luck there for the time being
Good review Will :) though did you mean to talk about the thickness of the wheel rim twice at 9:18 ? xD
I wonder if the new Thrustmaster T-LCM's with the T300 wouldn't be the bees knees for $ < fanatec, yes?
@@boostedmedia ACC on Console (PS4) SUX!! I dropped it. NO telemetry data, no audio or video setup, no FoV or seat adjustments AND no keyboard (button box)!
Thomas Rogan problem is the consoles suck in that aspect. They are for gaming but not for this kind of simulators. Rarely a game has fov adjustments on consoles.
@@lupo_aim incorrect. PCars2, AC, etc. Have specific HFoV settings on both PS4 and XBox.
hello, today I bought the g923 to start with the racing simulators in the X series and pc, I am happy with the purchase, it is my first steering wheel that I buy
if it was $360 with the shifter maybe but a spring change and vibrations for $150 more isn't worth it
@@AFlyingSwive I think they will drop in price quite quickly and expect lots of discount offers at different times so for certain you can get it cheaper that what is retailing now.
on the UK logitech website it's a £20 difference, seems like it's a no brainer over hear to go for the G923 after seeing your awesome review. will definitely be recommending to my friends that haven't got a wheel yet
Yes I picked up a G920 3 years ago with the shifter for £150 from PC World
Get it from Box when it releases, you’ll appreciate the big discount
Wow... such a great in-depth and unbiased review. Appreciate the deep dive into the technical aspects and teardown as well. Great job!
Thats an extremely detailed internal analysis. Thumbs up great job as always.
18:50 The plastic tabs isnt what provides spring back on the paddles, they are just buffers for the switch, on the paddles you have 2 bits of extruded sprung metal tabs on each side that provide the spring back for the paddles
did they improve the rotary dial? Mine on the G29 skips the click most of the time it's almost useless.
me too
Knowing Logitech... no likely not.
Excellent breakdown and knowledge. Much apprecuated and keep up the hard work!
Quickly becoming the master of these types of reviews. Love it!!
Sim racing garage. The king.
Thanks for the vid. The only thing i can say about their new wheel is. You can get the g29 with shifter for half the price.
My G27 is getting worn out, however my old G27 pedals and Hshifter are fine. Are G27 pedals and Hshifter compatible with this new model?
Just got this wheel as a starter into sim racing as it was on offer locally under £200. Thanks for the review!
So like 250 dollars? That's a great price. I just got the t248 for 299 dollars after looking for a wheel for a bit.
Thanks mate, excellent review, waiting for my 923 to arrive
One of the best YT reviews I've seen, noice 😊 subscribed
Nice driving over the top of the mount too 🇦🇨🤙
I remember I upgrading to a G27 many years ago from a G25. Was not impressed with the FFB compared to the well worn G25 so I kept the old wheel! Bet it's still going strong.
Watching from the UK. Love your channel mate.
Great Review! I was waiting for this. But one question: Is the rubber stop in the break pedal, which you didn't show in the video, the same in the G923 as in the G29/920? It's important because it was this rubber stop that had many ppl modifying their brake pedal with some replacing it or removing it entirely.
the g923 does not have the rubber , instead they inserted a progressive spring which is way better
@@tito7021 thank you
Sorry if my question seems obvious but my English is'nt perfect. So you mansion the G27 frequently and the G920 but at the beginning of the video and on the Title you are referring to the new "TrueForce" G923... So just to be clear You did teardown a G920 with a G923 or a G27 and G920 ?... or a G27 and a G923 ?
AMAZING MATE! Thank you for this great review :)
Thanks Kirk. Glad you enjoyed it.
1000Hz on the new one. I wasn’t able to get an answer on the older ones.
Thanks :)
I just use a logitech extreme 3D pro as a handbrake and doubles as a flight sim controller too! Killing two birds with one stone
Nice never thought of that, i've had one since Battlefield 1942
Fantastic video, many thanks!!
I had one. Regards
Great teardown! What is the point of the custom magnetic shifter thing you held up towards the beginning of the video?
Thanks!
I just bought a Logitech G923 for $198! I'm so excited.
It's my first ever racing wheel and I've wanted one for as long as I can remember.
@R yes I’m sure
Awesome video, very informative.
The left motor burning out seems to be a fairly common issue. Not too hard to replace, but not always easy to source.
I like your new review format, very in-depth!
Still not too complicated for the laymen though ;)
Is there any chance that the main board for the g29 is compatible with the g920? I cannot find the replacement main board for the g920 anywhere.
Great video by the way
I scooped one up for $400 from Harvey Norman. Weirdly, it cost more to buy it in store rather than online. And the G29 and G920 actually cost more than the G923. One of the strangest pricings I’ve seen
Don't also forget that the original wheel that had the layout of those is the DFGT with the aditional +- and twist dial.
the fact they had to make two versions of the wheel for diffrent consoles is proof that consoles are just not that amazing for sim racing, it should come down to the software not the hardware if the wheel should work, this wheel should have just been one version with a switch but I know especially from SONY thats a no no
I always thought it was daft but it comes down to licensing costs not hiking up the price for a console you don't own
If you want to compare what the new electronics add to non-TrueForce games, you can turn the closed loop off and back on again with cross+square+circle+triangle+minus and cross+square+circle+triangle+plus respectively.
Great review. Was there a rubber stop in the brake pedal like there is in the G29/920?
Not that I could see. I did look for it. Just the white plastic bump stops.
Great Video! Enjoyed every minute! A lot of effort and thank you for the review
Thanks Peter :)
@@boostedmedia no worries!! Great video to keep me interested during Melbourne Stage 4 restrictions
Thank you for the video. Does the break comes with that rubber inside as the old model or just the progressive spring?
Just spring
Another awesome video, thanks Will. I truly appreciate all the effort you out into producing these reviews.
I love your videos keep up the good work man!!!!
I just spent $1300 on Fanatec instead. I've never owned a racing wheel so I'm taking a leap of faith here lol. I do own VR too though so getting a racing wheel was kinda necessary for full immersion.
You are going to love it.
I'm inclined on doing the same thing especially now after seeing what logitech did... tho I've decided to wait untill I finish college in 3 years when I'll hopefuly have a job and be on my own...
Are you happy with your purchase? I've also never owned a racing wheel and am interested to get one after I upgrade my computer this year.
Instead? You could buy 3 g29's for $1300 dude...
@@robertjusic9097 yes but the g29 is rather trash? Whats your point.
Hi there. Is there any way I can fix the severed wire from my logitech g923 wheel. Can I replace the wire.
Hi i have the g920 and the wire behind the steering wheel on the connetor the red wire has broken off from the connetor how do you replace it as my buttons have stopped working pleasse help
You are too kind on Logitech. Very disappointed that they didn't release a proper new wheel
because they PAID him to "be kind"
And the G920 is basically the same than the G27 but with more buttons...
Logitech is lazy and over-priced.
Great video mate not my cup of tea but your reviews are honest and fair. Just upgraded from T300Rs to a TS-PC Ferrari edition and am loving life but my arms are sore this morning lol. By the way Will see you on Sunday race 1 really keen to give the upgrade a good run.🙂🙂
Awesome. See you then :)
Question, an obvious one....
Can I just get a new PCB and get trueforce?
I hate the progressive spring in the break on the G923 I had the G29 for few years & switching over I just can not get on with it.
what would be a great alternative please help!!!
I appreciate your video, is the best one for this racing wheel!
Ah i'm looking fwd to getting this wheel set. Nice detailed review! BTW do u feel the Curbs if u drive over them through force feedback? Are there not enough fundamental differences if u can get the 920 for only $279usd on sale days? Thanks!
I dont think the G923 is worth it. It is essentially the same as the G920 but with a few more buttons. The g920 is still a great wheel and will work on the Series X.
Of u dont have a wheel yet, get the knew one. You get new updates and maybe more support in the future.
@@thomasvandijk3310 not worth the price and will definetly be supported. the g27 is 15 years old and is supported on many modern games same with the g27
@@PeterF12 yeah i know ur completely right i also have a 10 year old logitech g27 but i was more thinking when you think about getting a wheel for console

Very good review there my friend
Hi mate, given that the price difference between the G920 and G923 at the moment in Australia is only around the $100 mark would you say I'm making a mistake going with the 920 ? This is my first wheel and I'm not going to be getting into full sim racing but just more arcade style. I also will play mostly on my Xbox Series X and some on PC
Cheers
what a rip! logi got some nerve... basically re-releasing an old product with a huge price hike to capitalise on the current sim racing environment...
buy a T300 GT Edition!
If only they were in stock
Very good review!, on my new G923 there is a bit of movement if i hold the steering wheel as if there is some flex in the bearing, can you confirm if you had the same please
He shows it in this video!?!
So theoretically the G923 motherboard works in the G920 and Trueforce would be added?
Big Oof for Logitech, i mean, i know its a entry level, but not even magnets on the shifters? 800$ for almost the same wheel? As a wheel, the G series is not bad, but as a series as it self, evolving is not the strongest here. The compatibility with previous mods because of the simplicity is nice, but making it more complicated would bring even better upgrades and mods, and it does not explain the change in price.
But anyways, nice video, really simple and straight forward, really explaining everything, loved it.
I didn’t realize that with the pedals, that’s super interesting.
