This track, as mad as it sounds, has always been one of my overall favorite, as well as this album is. This track is a kind of quintessential Todd, it has it all ! The Todd chords and progression, the phenomenal singing (it took me about 20 years to figure the first part was in fact his voice processed through synths, although it is quite obvious when you are accustomed to his singing), and the Todd amazing guitar solo (yep, also heavily processed), and it grows in a crescendo that ends up... well, completely crazy ! Genius ! It always leaves me kind of breathless !
Back when i first heard this album absolutely no other musician sounded close to this. What i like about todds music 20 steps ahead of everyone else. Guess thats why he's the best . CAN'T TOUCH THIS !!!
Like a Picasso painting or the Mona Lisa ... this instrumental makes you feel so many emotions. Much like Chopin, Todd uses those major/ minor chords to make you melancholy. Listen to the song Todd wrote for the Nazz. Only One Winner. Same chord structure.
Todd is the best! He is nominated for the 2020 R&R Hall Of Fame and he deserves to be in there! You can vote for him daily until Jan.10/20. New this year, to cast a ballot in the official Klipsch Audio Fan Vote, you can search “Rock Hall Fan Vote” or the word “Vote” with any Nominee name on Google to cast your ballot.
It’s a fuzz pedal of some sort being fed into a EMS pitch to voltage converter (pitch tracker) and that voltage is being fed into a synthesizer; the fuzz output and synthesizer are mixed (the pitch to voltage converter struggles with some sounds which is why it sound a bit chaotic at the end)
I'm currently off my face on acid rn, and I can tell you this song feels even better while on it. Try acid and listen to Todd Rundgren you won't forget it.
I can, because it is. Pearl is a very over-rated album. Janis may have been a great singer and performer in a big way, but the songs on Pearl are pretty weak. I've never thought much of it musically and artistically either. I'd rather listen to "Cheap Thrills" by Big Brother & the Holding Company, anyday. This is a LOT better and has more life in it than any of Janis' solo stuff.
Todd doesn't need to be in the RockHall of Fame........HE IS ALREADY FAME TO US !😘😘😘😘😘
Screw the hall bullshit anyway.
Hall of what??
F*ck that hall
This album hits me the deepest of any .Healing is #2 . Can't explain why but it feels sooooo awesome .😉
WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS HOW IS POSSIBLY SOMEONE COULD DO SOMETHING LIKE THIS IN 1974 I LOVE IT
This song makes me feel everything
Perfect reply kelly 😜😀😍
@@kevinmcgiffin10 I feel so much.
I second that emotion my dear.
@@kevinmcgiffin10creepy dude alert
Carry on true wizard..... Hat's off to you for this.
Still amazed to this day how Todd produced this by himself . Talk about a huge venture on your own. Well so did Bach and Chopin etc.
This is one of these many beautiful pieces of music with the perfect blend of love, sorrow & melancholy. Oh, what a cosmic experience.
Well said!
A Fukin Musical Genius! This album came out in my senior year of High School and everyone was talking about it. The most underrated album of all time!
My brother turned me on to this record when I was 10 years old...I threw out my KISS records the very same day

An orchestration of machine and man, this piece is unparalleled. The guitar reveals itself at the end. It's a masterpiece.
Todd Rundgren is a God in the music world.
Humanity has been ignored for ever! Long live TODD!
Kevin Parker was definitely listening to this when he was making Lonerism
Heart always for Todd ❤
I'm too young to remember but my God what did people make of this album when it first came out?
Saw him in Philadelphia when I was in the navy back in 80 but was always a fan in the 70*s epic and magical
❤️

how often does this line come to me? EVERY DAY
One of the best ideas for a line within such context
This track sounds like something I’ve done. Very cool !
Correction true wizard i was 13. What difference does a year make when your listening to TODD . 😛😛😛😛😛😛😛
5:49 onwards reminds me of when you get stung by bees in Animal Crossing.
this album bro.....
Thanks for this.
FAME FAME FAME FAME !!!!
✌🏼💪🏻Todd
Imagine listening too this tripping on 4 way window pane like I did in 74, it made a lot of sense.
77 for me, this tune never made any sense to me, then listened with the help of blotter, Oh, Now I get it! loved it ever since
move over ummagumma
Soon Over Babaluma
Ummagumma listen to Todd !!!!😝😝😝😝
I want to get married on this song with someone who wants to get married on this song
What kind of voice box was he using, cause it's pretty cool

Actually I think his voice is just a fuzz box, the guitar is what’s being fed into the pitch converter
This song makes me want to try psychedelics 😉🍄✌🏻💖🥀🌎

When Todd just sticks to singing his great melodies he is great. This noise may clever and innovative but just not pleasant to listen to.
Quite pleasant... It takes me to another plane... But, different strokes, etc
Janis Joplin could not work with Todd - and it is no wonder. : Image Pearl being this boring.
