I met Andrea June 11,1971. Hello It’s Me released February 1,1972. First real girlfriend,Andrea. Broke up @ Tufts University as freshmen; after Neil Young concert @ Boston Music Hall January 20,1973. Briefly united on 21st birthday October 20,1974. Todd’s lyrics, melody & arrangement had me mesmerized. I bargained with two sophomore roommates to play Hello It’s Me Friday night on their turntable & stereo system as many consecutive times as my 28 gram bag of pot/herb/weed would last. Haha🤡

I downloaded this song on a whim some 25 years ago -- and only now upon reading the lyrics do I finally understand his complaints -- and it's essentially a personal anthem for me at this point. Kinda hate to find this out the hard way some 25 years later.

"You're a new wave raver and you like to talk tough, but can you still cut the mustard when the going gets rough?" That sounded so cool in 1978, with rock critics in love with punk and new wave and giving much less attention to brilliant musicians like Todd.

Now I know what happened to all those sound effect tracks from the Three Stooges and Looney Tunes cartoons.

His voice makes me melt into a puddle of bacon butter. lol
