"The vineyards are ready." Dear Lord, could this video have come in a more accurate timing?! I was just painting The Divine Mercy painting as a comission for a small church in Croatia and was feeling stuck and unsure of myself, and then I got the notification! This man spoke directly to my heart!
Anthony is not only an amazing artist, he is a wonderful, kind, generous person. I am blessed to know him. Thank you for producing this beautiful video!
A great artist like Anthony Visco deserves a great video, and "Ascension Presents" gave him a superb one! Both the artist and the production company deserve tremendous praise. When I enter a post WWII church I have to ready myself and brace myself for the onslaught of ugliness and meaninglessness. If church architecture and art had followed the strictures brought to life by Mr.Visco's talk and art, we would instead have sanctuaries of beauty and incubators of faith. True religion begins in awe and wonder, and this is the art and architecture that embodies those attributes.
Awesome! If only we could get this kind of thinking behind the construction of EVERY Catholic church. They we might have American catholic churches worth talking about.
He talks of the need for young church artists, saying the vineyards are ready, but what sort of advice would he have for people who might want to be Catholic artists? I mean, I'm Catholic, and I am artistic, and I am most inspired by the love of God and the need to respond to it by reflecting it in my art, but how can I make that a vocation?
That school looks amazing, and the art and artisan program looks exactly like what I would want to learn if I were to go back to school. The only problem is that I don't speak Italian, and I struggle with languages other than English (not for lack of trying, though).
There are plenty of English speaking students there as well! Be worth looking in to but I'm pretty sure you do not need to speak Italian although I'm sure you will learn some along the way!

As and artist myself considering transitioning into devotional art this video and Mr. Visco is truly inspiring.
