Why should heavy music be mainstream? It's supposed to be extreme. If it was mainstream we'd find something else. And hardcore definitely isn't mainstream.
The problem with pop isn't the music or the artists. The problem is that labels will do anything to make a profit, and they treat their artists like brands and products. That's the only thing worth getting mad about, not the music itself.
