I love that ring for trash mobs. You don't get any finesse AP for using it though. Although you really should. You are in a dangerous dungeon with just a ring. That is pretty bad ass. lol

Junglechief87 I know I'm late to comment but have you tried the black hood accessory in this dungeon?
You do realize that holding L1 under control scheme b does the same thing as the Black Hood. Save the accessory slot.
Oh this is kinda a cheat but I noticed on some of the floors before the Iron Giants... there are two floors with Braindrainer's that can be completely passed without fighting as long as you stick to the wall and move counterclockwise towards the exit. I know they are not really difficult but I was getting frustrated from the Iron Giants so I was trying to conserve as much HP as possible by avoiding them.

the best spell to use for 5 iron giant is freeze. you can farm zu beak which 1 zu beak combine with blizzard equivalent of 4 freeze or you can use 10 zu beak which make the freeze cast x17 become 999 potency and 99 limit break which if you cast it it give you half of damage on their HP. it a whole lot easier fight.
The only problem I had in Costlemark was those freaking Iron Giants. I basically just grinded up my AP and bought all the top level recovery skills for the party and crafted a bunch of healcast. I'm amazed I actually passed this dungeon.
I kinda found Menace Sleeps in Steyliff worse because I was not expecting it to be that long and I was saving up EXP so I couldn't camp between floors.
someone hahaha bro steyliff was a nightmare. It was by FAR the worst of the dungeons..
True, I wasn't expecting it to be this long. At one point, it felt like I was going on a loop.
Nixperience Band can be equipped to someone just before camping. Boom, problem solved.

I had no problem until dolce and custards were there but then i noticed they were effective at ring of lucii so i just killed every dolce and custards there

The elder Coeurls were the hardest part of that dungeon for me. I was trucking along at full health until I hit the last group of them then they took my hp down about 1/4 and that was enough to make the final fight impossible for me the first time. Beat it on my second try though. I did not even think about heal casts. That is a game changer right there, I almost feel like doing another playthrough just to try that out. lol
I noticed while fighting in the dungeon, that when entering big rooms if you stay close to the walls and walk the far distance to the the exit you can avoid some major fights. I'm not sure if this is a glitch but just throwing it out there.
I literally just finished the dungeon rn as i type (9:47 pm) and the reason i went to this video was because i wanted to know why it was so long and i would say i cheated but not cheated. I used the magitek suit along with an op recipe, i forgot which one, but it gave me i think double xp and every hit i did was a crit. So i just used the Zwill Crossblades (daggers) with a Dark Matter Bracelet, Adamantite Bangle (just in case my suit ran out of juice) and the Moogle Charm for extra xp and i ended up with 1millon + xp and i started the dungeon with about 234k xp. Took me about 40- 1hr to complete.
Nice tips, but do you know about the Grand Chamberlain accessory? It helps a lot in this dungeon as it lets Ignis automatically use an Elixir on Noctis when his HP falls to half or less. It's very useful in this dungeon as it bypasses the no item rule.
That sounds pretty powerful, I wonder if I already had it and just missed it. Where do you get it at?
It's in one of the Vault dungeons. I think it was in Crestholm but I'm not sure.
I think I have it, don't need it now, but I'm sure others in this thread could find it useful.
Junglechief87 In the Fociaugh Hollow vault door, continue until you fight the Ganymede. After that, when you get to the next split path, take a left and go all the way down. It should be there.

I just finished Costlework last night (normal difficulty, standard pack, not Royal pack). It wasn’t so hard. Camp whenever you can inside the dungeon to refill health, cook Lasagna to null elemental damage and bump 4000 health or one of those soup that guarantees critical hit and 150% health recovery. In each encounter, use scan to identify enemy’s weakness and use quadruple elemental that fits their weaknesses. Equip Ultima to refill elements back, wears accessories like Ribbon and Safety Bit according to opponents. Prompto’s Tech (oh hi their opening) helps get you out of trouble and often knocks opponent down. Use Quad/Quint Blizzara on 4 Iron Giants and use Prompto’s tech to get away from Giant’s gravity pull. Last boss wasn’t so tough if you use Quad Blizaga or Freeze, Armiger attack and Prompto’s tech.
a little tip on the iron giants and generally any enemy in the big open rooms: switch to prompto, keep your distance and shoot them with his entire arsenal. if you're far enough they're gonna ignore you. it's gonna take a while, yes, but it's effective without losing much, if any hp.
golden tail soup is better because it gives 100% chance of critical damage. Ingredients are easy to buy. Also Lasagna al forno is another great meal for figthing the final boss and jorgamund, nullifies elemental damage, so your party is invincible to most of his attacks. I think there is much better information out there on how to deal with this dungeon than in this video.
Pretty good video. Thanks. For the Iron Giants, Marlboro and the final boss (and the earlier version of it), I would suggest using Freeze, Flare and Electon respectively. Extremely useful for the Iron Giants fight especially.
Yeah, I just don't like farming and they aren't really necessary. All the tools I make use of here are things easily acquirable without the need to farm, I know you can get Zu Beaks quickly but not as quickly as all those megalixers that are essentially just clouding my inventory.
Junglechief87 Okay. Personally by the time I got to that dungeon I already had enough items in my inventory to make a bunch of limit break magic, so I didn't really farm anything. I do get your point though.
By the way. Does that black Chocobo ever grow up?
Yeah, I only ever killed any of the mobhunts once. Only ever got two limit break spell crafting items while doing all the games content. I do not know about the Chocobo...that rhymed. :)

Another thing you can do to avoid all fire damage is equip the Trihead Heart(Drop from Omega). Not only does it immune you to all fire damage, it also gives you a really nice amount of HP and raises a few more stats(Can't recall them all off the top of my head).
undertook the general gets his revenge quest [i think thats what it's called] (level 99 - Aayakashi; which turns out to be level 110 or so) in Lestallum, the guy almost always flurries with attacks at each second, this is when i realised the beauty of the games fighting mechanics, this particular fight brought out the tactical side in myself, switching between guard/parry/free attack is by far the most optimum way to fight especially when overwhelmed, and if i do say so myself, is the best way to retain items for later boss fights.
the coeurls is fairly simple just kill one with armiger chain then go to town with prompto with piercer never attack when they're sitting down if you're lucky to parry one it will leave them vulnerable
after i beat the game when it came out & i came across this mission, i've hated it with every ounce of my being & i'm still stuck on it today bc i gave up on it. but i'm gonna give it another try, hopefully this video helps me lol
For food I would use Grilled Mighty Barramundi. It provides your party with the Ribbon effect and makes you immune to Lightning/Fire/Ice. Equip Noct with a Safety Bit just to be safe. A handful of Limit Break magic from each element is very helpful. I would at least make a few Freeze spells for the Iron Giants
That's great but a big part of this video is showing everything that's quick to get and easily accessible. Things you can do right away to clear it easily. You can buy Zu Skewers ingredients, not sure about the Barramundi, but for how accessible Zu Skewer is, what it gives the player is incredible. Limit Break magic is powerful but you have to farm it, quintcast magic is more accessible to most players.

The biggest thing I was trying to say is the best food to use(and the Safety Bit so you don't get cheesed). I also suggested people that only have the resources to make a couple limit break spells to make a couple Freeze spells for the Iron Giants. All the other magic isn't really that important.
If you like to go at this slowly if you have a magitech suit (ez god mode) you can use it RIGHT before you go in that dungen once god mode is over (or before it's over you can autosave) once the auto save happens. No balls the rest of the dungen and if you fail play a different game and wait for god mode to come back.
Edit: i take that back it won't take more then an hour if you use ring of lucil on imps and goblins. I suggest using the god mode suit if fighting the cats and snake like bosses. When you use this combo it'll be a breeze. (Only use the suit on mobs you know you cant handle.) For me it was cats snakes and iron golems ...but i used the oneshot ring spell on them.
Why dont you use any of the royal arms for the buffs? Each one has a sizable damage buff and other various buffs. Anyone attempting this should look into the sword of the tall and sword of the wise for major dmg buffs. Septer of the piety is great for magic dmg. Even the shield gives 3k health and 900 armor.

Man I'm so nervous about this dungeon and have been avoiding it...I played this game for like 2 weeks straight and have 3 hunts left, daemonwall, jorgamund in costlemark, and adamantoise. I have defeated almost everything except omega and the last two secret dungeon quests. I never decided to look up anything in this game until I was in the 100 level dungeon to make sure why it was taking so long to complete and found out this dungeon doesn't allow items and was almost as long. How dreadful. After watching this video, I feel completely confident I can do this place. I also just realized different weapons work better against different mobs. I'm so new even though I'm 99 and I guess I'm just good at combat but I kept noctis with swords the whole time, especially when I got autochanger. I also use the armiger unleashed all the time and my mana usage is so slow, it lasts for like 10 minutes. How do you feel about armiger unleashed? What about using the ring spell that makes everything disappear? Does that work on the giants or coreuls?
If anyone still trys this there is a easy way to cheat this just equip ur exosuit and you will take 0 damage for around 20 min or soo if u need more time manually change the day ahead and you have a full recharged exo suit again
Well since I've only reached this sealed door now , and I have access to the exo-suits It would mean I have it easier but I'm not gonna use it. To get the same experience you guys did.

1 *Fire Elemancy* + 2 *Potions* and the *Cup Noodle* food buff for exp increase
You know what? I'll make it super easy. Just use the Magitek suits. That's it. Yes, it's basically cheating because the magitek exosuit makes your characters invincible, but not allowing you to use items is cheating in and of itself. If you want, use 'em only when you fight the room with four Iron Giants and the room with two Elder Couerls. Other than, it's all sound advice.
With that time limit and cool down you definitely need to be careful when you use them.

Yeah, it was garbage when this video was made, one of the patches buffed the ring a lot.
I used the ring of lucis and I survive, all you just need to do is keep phasing and used the ring of lucis, make sure that you are distance from the enemy or you can also do by staying in the tunnel and wait for the bar to close,'' take note don't go inside stay between bar and let your friends fight the enemy then used the ring.
That seems pretty slow, but if it's guaranteed I guess that works.
I think if you have max cooking, you get golden tail soup which guarantees critical hits, and accelerates healing by 150%
80% crit added to your base crit is practically guaranteed and I think the max HP is better than the accelerated healing, unless it increases how quickly your max HP comes back.
Does Alterna work on the five iron giants? What about the final boss?
How about farming the Zu at the Rock of Ravatogh? It's a level 67 quest at Varinas Mart - Ravatogh that has a 60 %chance to drop 3x Zu Beak which lets you craft the three ultimate spells, Flare, Electron and Freeze while also adding like 70 potency? Those spells deal about 99999 damage each hit and lets you pretty much one shot the Iron Giants
Yunaa Shinaba You could do that but it requires farming and isn't necessary. You can easily clear it this way and all it requires is a little shopping and a quick stop to pick up a suit that's next to where you're shopping.
Farming 3 zu beaks to craft 12-15 spells only takes about 5 minutes I think thats worth doing x:
Just saying.. Some people might still have troubles. You probably already have Zu Beaks when you can enter the Vaults..

How did you get multiple Thermal Suits? Multiple playthroughs or is there a way I'm not aware of?
John Frazar Outfits are shared, unless it's something specific to a character or set of characters. so the one thermal suit pickup gets all characters the suit.

John Frazar No outfits aren't shared smh.. you pick up a hunt for the ronin in lestallum which you'll need to hunt down and kill in the plantation site there, they'll let the entire party in with thermal suits and once you kill the ronin you unlock it for the whole party
Just one trick that helps you through . Eat the special lasagne you learn in Altissia. You will 0 the elemental damages. Jabberwock sirlion is needed.
what about farming up a lot of limit brake spell. That can work to right? like some fire/bliz/thunder/ limit brake spells.
They're all good, I just don't like farming.
I've always found Coeurls to be very easy. I just use daggers and side step a lot, trying to get behind them even though I know I won't succeed. They have a really tough time hitting me.
The main problem with Coeurls is their counter attack stance. If you are attacking them they can just start the counter with no telegraph and you may already be committed to an attack, plus if you are near them and they go into their counter stance, the AI isn't really smart enough to stop attacking and could get you killed as well. They can be awfully random.

Why don't you use ring of the luci? You can hold r1and triangle and insta kill all of the enimies after a few hits of damage most right away.
This video was made a while ago. The ring was terrible back then. It was buffed in a patch.

Reza Wiradharma It's not far from the Chocobo outpost so go there and take a nightime only quest, then cancel it. The first recipe won't have a full timer but it will last plenty long enough for the first 10 floors.

I would camp at the haven near Costlemark then go to any outpost to start a night time hunt. After that cancel the hunt and "Return to rest point"

Yes you could use something that was added as DLC long after this video was made, that is possible.
Junglechief87 Boy howdy you reply fast. I'm not hating, the costlemark door is painfully difficult. Especially, if not just because, of that no items debuff. It sucks, and you did a good job on the video. But now the magitek exosuit exists...for some reason...And is one of the most op, it not the most op thing in the game besides Alterna.
