You can skip one loading screen and talking to the Tipster to make the progress faster. As soon as you kill the ZU and get the items he drops, once you get the XP rewarded screen, immediately go the menu > Map > Return to the Entrance. As long as you don't get the "Target Eliminated" screen and you return to the entrance the hunt should not count. This will do two things, It will allow you to immediately zone back into the zone and go back to doing the hunt again without "Return to Car" and talking to the tipster, which will save you time. The second thing it will do is allow you to keep the items that dropped from te previous kill. So in general it saves you one loading screen and talking to the tipster if you return to the entrance after you kill the ZU, which makes the farm A LOT faster.
So you don't even have to go back to the tipster to talk to the guy again :O that's efficient, gonna try this. xD
There is a slightly faster way of doing this. If you warp to the entrance of the dungeon immediately after the drop appears, you warp before the game registers the Zu as being defeated for the hunt quest. This skips the entire part where you have to warp to your car, hand in the quest, and then re-take the quest.
How dafuq did I not think of this. I climbed that mountain 3 damn times. Ahunt, some noodles and when I explored it myself.

What you could also add to your video. You can kill Zu and receive the items without finishing the quest. It's pretty easy to do so.
1. Kill zu
2. Wait until it drops to the ground.
3. Instantly after it hit the ground open the Map and you will be able to "return to entrance". If it's not highlighted and you can't select it, leave the map menu and quickly reenter it.
Like this you don't have to return back to receive the quest. You save quite a bit of time like that.
You can do this faster, after the zu kill then teleport to entrance like normal, Then run about 10 meters out into the open world and then go back to rest point and Zu will reappear. No need to hand in quest unless you want the gil. Happy Farming :D

So I found this out a couple days ago farming for the beaks by accident. Unless you desperately need the money from the hunt as soon as you see the beak or Zu tender drop you can leave to the entrance right away and it will not complete the quest. Instead you will maintain the hunt and you can just warp back to the rest point. If you cannot teleport the instant the item drops just go back in game and the reopen the warp menu until the return to entrance option appears. If the "Complete" screen appear then it is too late. Sometimes it takes a little while because there is still a character animation. I usually break the Zu's leg which makes it vulnerable and use overwhelm with bow of the clever and once it kills the Zu Noctis finishes with a flip animation. As soon as the flip animation is over 99% of the time I can port back to entrance with my loot and i just warp back to the camp site. This usually cuts the 5 mins down to like 2-3.

Play the arcade game in Altissia for 10000 gil, you get treasures there easily. It takes about 30-40 mins, when you reach 99 treasures you'll receive the reward. You could sell it for 500,000 gil or craft 50+ limit breaks. Can be done about 3 times i heard.
It only makes 54 Flares, and even with the potency +100 Ascension skill the potency on those flares is pretty awful. To be honest this will net you a much higher damage output for magic, though I am making a video about the Wind Up Lords from the JM5 machine
You can speed this up significantly by crafting a few flare spells once you get the beaks and using them on the zu. usually one cast combined with a technique is enough to kill it.
Yeah, ROI on Flares is pretty reliable. If no beaks drop can also return to last autosave, which should be at the camp when you teleported there
It definitely helps if you break the beak, I just spam warp strike from a decent distance with sword of the wise and I get about 3 beak breaks a fight. When I used to just kill him with flare I would almost always get the Zu tender.
Not sure if anyone else has come across this, but while hunting some zu beaks, i returned to the exit rather quickly after killing him and then went to my car, but when i talked to the guy to get the hunt again. i realized i still had it active, so thought maybe i lost my mind and had already accepted it or if something went a miss. went back, killed it again and left just after killing it before there was a complete screen on the hunt, when i arrived to the entrance it still showed the hunt active with the 0/1 kill on it.
so it seems you just need to exit back to the entrance right after killing it, so that it stays active and you can save yourself some time on the loads by having to do one less each time.
Hopefully this helps people who are wanting to do this farm for the zu beak and it does seem to be the easiest to farm given how fast you can kill it at high levels.
I think the " justice monster five" method is better it gives u 54 limit breaker spells or 500000 gils if u sell the item and it takes less than an hour

Yeah, I agree. Use the special machine in Altissa for 10,000 gil (sitting on a red carpet) and get 99 chests. This will give you the idem that you can either sell for 500,000 gil or use to make 54 spells in one flask that have the limit break catalyst effect.
has poor potency though. like 290. for zu beaks you only get like 14-16 casts but you can get potency 999 probably two times over by the time you get 1 wind up lord vexxos

Maybe park the car at the area where you do the quest and rest at the camp. That way you can just warp to the car when your done and then teleport to your last resting place if you really wanna take advantage of the faster farming.
I literally do exactly this in the video...you can't "warp to car" from the inside of a dungeon so you warp to the entrance first
You don't have to turn in the quest when you kill the zu, just go to the entrance then teleport from the entrance to the camp and the zu should be there. A friend and u kept taking turns killing it.
Don't bother with the food (although attack increases make this a lot easier),, use your best spear,, enhance with Ignis,, only warp strike the BEAK and most importantly I've found is making sure the last hit is 100% a warp strike to the beak, even easier when the Zu is in the vulnerable state. I've had beaks every time doing this :)
I have found that this does not work. I have done this 15 time and only received 3 Zu Beaks and 14 zu Tenders. Upon trying this from the beginning again and climbing the mountain again I received 3 more Zu Beaks. I am guessing this has been programmed out so you must climb the mountain each time.

The other 2 LB spells are Freeze and Electon if i'm not wrong
You don't have to turn in the hunt, you can go to entrance, then to the rest spot and Zu will reappear even if you've already defeated him.
Just to add in: if you do it this way it has to be before the quest is flagged as complete in the quest log. You'll want to return to entrance before the screen reads the hunt as actually completing.
Can you confirm that this still works? I had heard that the drop rate was nerfed on this drop.
Still works for me.. Been doing it as of today. Sucks that sometimes you might not get the 3x Zu beak just the meat. Also, eating the Mother and Child Rice bowl helps a lot! Already got 12x Zu beaks and made the fire potency 999 with 20 uses in one flask. Can't wait to use it!

I have now tried this 7 more times each time I warp to the camp I
get a Zu Tender, each time I climb the mountain I get 3 Zu beaks. Guess I
have a lot of climbing to do to get fully stocked with Zu Beaks.
So is magic the only way to break the damage cap or are there other methods for physical attacks aswell?
I'm sure you're aware already but magic, link-strikes, astrals and tech abilities are the only things that can break damage limit.
isnt better to farm the vexxos thing from the 10k machine in altisia? it took me 1 and a half hour to get 2, and using 2 you get 99 spells with same power as using 2 zu's

I always get the food dropped but not the beak T.T 6 kills already and I used the buffood for increased drop rate.
Deathborn2048 I find that if you "break" his beak then there's a much higher chance the breaks drop after he's dead. The same applies to horns on horned beasts etc

Renegade 7369 freeze for ice and electon for thunder, they're damaging but quincast does decent damage as a substitute aswell in a pinch

btw, its really random. i got 12 beaks now out of 1hr farming.
The Zu tender is a primary drop that takes precedence over Zu Beak which is a secondary drop, it has a 25% and 75% chance to drop respectively, I would not recommend eating the drop rate boost food as it will boost the primary drop to 75%. This info is from the piggyback guide.
Kriegstic according to the next dlc, we'll have an item that boost the secondary drop chance so that's good news.

might just have to do this then since the justice monsters V minigame is getting very boring really fast for 1 item, sure it has a lot of casts on it but i can hardly bring myself to get 99 treasure chests in that

Does that Limit Break thing only work for Fire, or does it give a fourth tier to the Thunder and Blizzard elements as well?
You are able to craft 4 different kind of limit break spells with Zu beaks. You can make Flare (fire), Freeze (ice), Electon (lightning) and Maxicast (a random cast of either three). In order to make the Maxicast spell, you must combine Zu beaks with all three elements.
So how does it look like????
I'm getting only meat now. 20+ kills and breaking the beak on every kill. Did they take the item out of the game?
check you inv... some times it dont show you got the beak.. i did it for an hour only showed the beak dropping once, but i had 12. ill take it!

What did you mean return to car and turn in the hunt? Don't you need to go all the way to the quest giver to turn it in? And how did you refresh the hunt?
squalltheonly when you open the map it has an option to return to your car and one to return to last place you slept. will save you alot of travel time. he also ment to just redo the zu hunt, you won't get the big reward but you still get some gil and it makes the zu spawn.

But really, it's the strength of the spell. The higher the number, the more damage it will do, with 1 being the weakest and 999 being the strongest.
Ruby Rose lol xD, yeah, but hoy much do youneed.to hit 99.999, depending on my magic i dont think only 999 spells will hit for max damage, like if i have 1200 magic, maybe i only need 700 power spells to hit 99.999
so, is flare the only limit break spell? or are there others like ultima or meteor?
GrimReefer811 freeze and electon are the others, no meteor or anything like that just the standard fire, ice and thunder, if you combine multiple types of magic you just get higher potency with a chance of casting either of them

Not that I know of. Only way to farm is to head to the Vesperpool area just outside the Mylwood during the rain

First attack the legs to knock him down with warp attack, then warp attack the beak until dead (BREAK THE BEAK 2-4 times more the better)

i believe he is unlocked by story progression. by end of chapter 8 you can do it for sure

mhh, i did every hunt as they showed up and back tracked a crazy amount. maybe it unlocks after x amount of hunts, or a particular hunt. I got to hunter rank 8 at chapter 8. then finished if off after chapter 15. but i do remember being low rank when doing this maybe 5ish

Grrr 2 late, have everything finished in the game except I'm short about 20 points to make level 10 in the hunts. checked every diner in the game and am still short... anyone else manage to get it to level 10???? plus the black choker I got for completing lvl 9 dose nothing to increase HP stats
Yeah I got to 10, make sure you check both food stalls in lestallum. Also assuming youve killed adamantoise. doing every hunt gets you to exactly level 10
Also make sure to do Vyv's photography quests. The final one unlocks a hunt in Altissia

yep and in Venice as well. didn't get around to doing the photography one yet. remember trying to do the photography quest near the start of the game but could not find the path to it
