I ordered the same bass after watching this video. It arrived today (4 days from Germany to USA!) and all I can say is WOW! It’s absolutely incredible especially given the price tag. Thomann website says the pickups are Roswell, not Wilkinson 2:20 Zoom in and you can even read Roswell on the pickup covers. My HB PB-50 has another Roswell in it and I have no complaints. 😊😮
@@xMTLKx The best passive jazz bass that Harley Benton has is the HB JB-75 with the ash body. It's heavy, with a beefy 'D' profile neck........It's a beast of a bass for $145 U.S.D. The CC series is a great value well.
I have been playing for 15-years, and I currently own 9 basses including a HB Jazz Bass in the standard sunburst, and it is in the top 3 of my easiest playing basses. It’s ridiculous considering how little I paid for it.
Honestly the most impressive part of this to me is the triple string tree. I replace the stock double tree on most of my Fender-style basses because they only hold the D and G strings down, meanwhile the A is just flapping in the breeze with a much shallower break angle than the others. Drives me nuts.
The thumb rest at the bottom is actually a tug bar. You anchor your index, middle and ring fingers below the tug bar and you pluck the strings with your thumb.
Have spent a week with this bass now and it really is a great bass for the money. Had to tighten the truss rod a little (truss rod works smooth and responds good to adjustment) but otherwise good setup from Thomann. Mine weighs 4,4 kg (9,7 lbs) and is well balanced. No complaints at all, it even rivals my 90ies MIA Fender JB . It does not have quite the same feel of quality but soundwise it really holds up very well.
Yikes! That jazz bass sounds killer! Harley Benton? ARE YOU KIDDING ME? Love that color! Wish they had a white finish but that’s ok. FINALLY found a knock around bass that doesn’t SOUND like a knock around! Well done HB!!!🤨🎶👍🏾
I bought this bass immediately after this video was released. I fooled all of my colleagues. They thought it was a $2k+ bass and were mind blown when I told them the actual retail. Amazing.
On the Thomann website it mentions that the fretboard is Laurel, it also looks a lot brighter in those pictures, but it looks really dark in this video, almost like another wood.
ok, I bought it and can confirm - the fretboard really is as dark as it looks in this video (not as bright as on the Thomann website) - really happy with it so far!
Keep it. It’s not hoarding if your stuff is cool. Is the cavity space shielded? I own the regular Harley Benton JB20 which is not shielded. Harley Benton has a very nice lineup of Jazz Basses, but are a bit limited with their selection of Precision basses and PJ style basses. I'd like to see them add some cool colors to their P and PJ basses.
Mine arrived last week and it's not just the bass you have in your hands, mine too is an absolute masterpiece! I shielded the electronics and changed the pickguard to a nice purple holographic one and it is just perfect!
I considering a harley benton as I really want to try out owning a fretless, but as I have no idea if I'll get on with it, there's no point spending nearly 500 for the Sire V5 fretless when I can get the Harley benton fretless (the brown one that looks like a jazz bass) for under 200! Deffo keen to give it a go. I have an eBow and really wanna use it with a fretless. I just love the sound and vibe of fretless and the Harley Benton seems the most sensible way to go.
Are Roswell pickups made by Wilkinson or is this a verbal typo, Gregor? What's the weight of this alder-bodied model? I did buy a Harley Benton JB-75MN but had to return it Thomann as the weight was 'anchor-like'.
I've set up a couple of HB Jazz basses. Not bad for the money, but still have that "cheap" feel. Spend a little more on at least a decent Squier, if you can.
