Ciao Ragazzi! For those of you who are new to the channel my name is Danilo and yeah, I’m actually a Gibson Artist for the Italian roaster. Check out my Instagram profile if you need more details or just check some of my older videos. I’m not here to lie to you or anything. Also please be respectful in the comment section to each other and have a constructive discussion ❤️ Ciao!
Has Gibson kicked you out of the "Artist Club" after seeing this video?
@@Snarkyone1965 I didn’t say anything bad about Gibson and they are still my favorite guitars haha
You dont like Guns and Roses much do you? The only issue i have with my Harley Benton it doesnt stay in tune like a typical Les Paul
@@mannyfragoza9652 To be honest, no I don't care for them. Axl Rose is an asshole. I try to avoid giving assholes my money. My PRS SE McCarty 594 stays in tune for a long time. Oddly enough so do a couple of my Epiphones, and Firefly guitars.
@@mannyfragoza9652 I don't have any issues with HB, I've never played one. I've considered buying one, but if it doesn't stay in tune, I may have to reconsider.
Looking at the shape and control layout, I’d say this more an ESP Eclipse than a Les Paul
Yep, as I said in the video I compared it to an Eclipse from LTD/ESP… which is also inspired by the Les Paul, so same old same old 😂
Same factory...I bet.
As an Eclipse copy with EMGs it's not in competition with traditional Les Pauls. I'm no traditionalist but those EMGs sounded characterless. The novelty of active pickups seems to have worn off in the industry.
@@mikerichardson2177yep. This. That's the HB business strategy. Their higher end guitars are a steal for the price.
@@ianjamieson3985no way. Fishmans start the revival and it's unmatched. The new age of active are basically pups in HD! And of course promote tonal variation with all the voices
I just received a HB 35 plus Lemon and I still can't believe how well refined and detailed is for just 230 euros.
Stays in tune and cost a ⅙ of a Les Paul?! I'm sold.
Be ready to up grade the Harley Benton.
You’ll be trying to sell it in 3 months
@@thegoodguy44 And you'll be still trying to learn guitar in the next 30 years too
@@theostragonidis7548 ok.
@@theostragonidis7548 oof haha
This is the next honest test done by you, the first test i did myself by bying an Other Les Paul by Harley Benton 5 years ago, plays well! Thanx for posting.
Just received 2 Harley Benton’s, and I’m blown away by the quality! They’re not just good for the money, they’re just really good guitars!❤
I agree. I just bought my first Harley Benton guitar - the new Modern ST, and it is so nice. It plays well, feels and sounds great. And it stays in tune despite having a 2 point tremolo. Insane value for money. And the roasted maple neck & maple fretboard is so smooth :-)
New HB player here. Im blown away too. I totally fall in love with my 550 ii FTF! My RG 550 Genesis gets dusty now after 2 years intense playing 😅
Excellent Slash playing!
After doing some research and seeing video reviews for the Harley Benton SC-450plus LD (lemon drop burst color), I bought one.
I was blown away by the super nice color and details and the sound ! Plays as good as my Gibson and it was only 187 euros ! AMAZING ! I am also
interested in the custom II version in a desert color burst AND the Harley Benton V-guitar you made a review of a few months back. That black guitar looks
great. Thank you !
That black V was incredible indeed! I cannot say that this one plays just like my Gibson but certainly it worth way more than its price tag, I am super impressed!
@@DaniloVicari I like your review + demos. Thank you. I like it when a person is very honest about the guitar they are showing.... the good things and
also the bad things. That way people can make a judgement if they should buy it.
@@MAX96MENDES Sell your gibson, buy 10 more harley bentons or 5 bentons with upgrades
I really like the "One-Three" series of Harley Benton. You know, where the price starts with a "one" and doesn't have more than three digits.
Impeccable playing!
I have a Harley Benton Madcat Prince tele. It is fantastic.
I have it too
Great video. Honestly impressed! Both with you and the guitar.
Looks great, sounds great and with those upgrades over the Gibson and for that price what’s not to like? It’s Win Win 👏👏👏
wow.. this guitar is awesome sounding. Modern but got the vintage look.
I have a friend who's a general knob,
.. we typically keep him at the back as well 🤣
Hopefully the setup is what everyone who buys one should expect to get.
You mean none?
If you order a guitar shipped to your door, 9 times out of 10 the setup will either be non-existent or not what you like. After 32 years of playing, I've learned that only a personalized setup and break in period can determine whether to be satisfied with a guitar.
I never have any expectation whatsoever of a guitar showing up to my door with a setup.
Oh, that was very clever! Well played. 😄
A great review. I have the HB SC550ii and the quality is exactly like yours, flawless. I replaced the tuners with Gotoh locking items. My only gripe and, not one about the quality, is that the frets are crazy big as I'm used to vintage ones. You also didn't mention that the top is a genuine cap of flamed maple and the frets are stainless.
I have 2 HB fusions. They play and sound phenomenal. They hold tune better than my 1200 plus guitars.
I own both SC450+ and SC550+. They are also nice platforms for upgrade.
Reminds me of this guy who had his epiphone greeny custom made with a gloss finish. This HB looks just as good.
I think I know who you’re talking about if he is a RUclipsr, I stopped watching his channel.
Cool! For hobbyists like me looks like a really good deal!
It absolutely is! Giving the price guitars have nowadays this is actually impressive yes
Nice demo mate✨
Thank You !
A very good presentation.
In a distance, i guess i hear Gary Moore shred the heart out of this Beauty...
I had a HB Fusion II HH, satisfied me for 5 years; very sensitive, you can't hide what you play (wrong). A great study guitar. All it CAN'T do is Metal, but for me as a METALHEAD, it had to leave, finally..😪; now a friend is VERY happy with it...from Blues to Jazz and Hard Rock...
My new guitar is a G4M 529 FR Glacier Burst, and it's INCREDIBLE !
Maybe you can have an eye on this great brand, too ?
Blessings from Germany !
M
I bought the Harley Benton dobro for myself last Christmas this Christmas i just ordered the Harley Benton pink strat
I wanted a “nice” acoustic back in 2014, I had a generous budget and Imagined I would walk away with a big name, I played everything in the shop, (big shop, huge stock) I walked out with a £350 Gresch, I still have it, and play it often, the big names need to step up , both in quality and price.
I like it that you can buy a good, playable guitar for a good price 👍
Awesome Video , What Delay and Reverb was on the Sound ?😊
Looks cool!
Lo sapevo che ti facevi mandare un HB Les Paul 😍😍😍
Non potevo non farlo haha
Jatoba (Brazilian cherry) is used in pretty demanding conditions like flooring and boat building.
If you haven't yet, try Firefly LP. Hands down, some of the best budget guitars out there. Roasted woods, locking tuners, 230 USD
IDK if HB offers Roasted mahagony bodies in one piece with roasted flame maple necks or not. IMO right now, Firefly is king of budget axes. To the point I am excited enough to share this with other no rich players because they are really that damn good for the money.
You cann't build their guitars from scratch cheaper. My Ghost tele for example, the one piece Tele pickgaurd thats chrome, IF you can FIND ONE they go for 90 dollars. locking tuners, 50 bucks, dimario clones, 60 dollars, tele bridge for humbucker, 22 dollars, kill switch, 12 dollars, red speed knob, 6 dollars, jumbo stainless frets, 60 dollars. This isn't even the pots, switch, wood, labor time/cost.....IT's insane to think about.
Hi Danilo Your video made me subscribe thank you. How about the weight is it really Heavy or lighter than a LP? Thanks
nice guitar i like the neck heel access, sounds great if you want a cheaper les paul alternative, the carve on the top looks weird though, like its more of a bump than a carve
2:14 caught me off guard
I own 5 HB guitars and i love it all.... 🎉
Very interesting video and an impressive guitar. I loved the tone for the Night Train intro that you played--what gear and tone settings did you use? I notice a link for your gear list, but I don't know which ones were giving you that tone.
Thanks.
I excpected a SC 550 fpr a direct comparison. The Custom is a bit closer to the ESP Eclipse as some commentators already pointed out and comes with a lot of small updates.Even more than said Eclipse for which a more "authentic" copy, sorry inspired guitar, from HB is also available.
The SC Custom IS a rebranded Eclipse 256, after all, they're made in the same factory.
E aspetta l'anno prossimo che usciranno i modelli relicatti o con doppio colore come la tua strato custom shop. E allora sì che lì sarà davvero la fine 😅
I had the SC Custom II in lemon flame and I still regret the day I sold it. It was close to my PRS SE Custom Quilt that cost me around 900€. I mean, I love my PRS, but it's not far from a guitar that cost me 259 euro (the SC Custom II). Great guitars definitely.
New SC III is even better, although 100€ more
I had the SC Custom II in Lemon Flame too. 😍
After I changed the Roswell Pick Ups It became one of my best guitars. I would say, that the SC Custom II or now III ist one of the best HB Models
I love a Les Paul but sitting w it is a comfort compromise and standing w it is out of the question.
I got a $220 Aria Pro 2 Jet1 w a fender nut width and slim C neck BUT 24.75" scale! I installed Planet Waves lockers and a big steel block steel saddle Wilkinson tremolo and its a great comfortable body w belly cut and only 7lbs with access to the 24 frets. Sounds completely different but who cares i adjust my amp and actually like the clean tones of a neck single more than a humbucker. Still love the look of my Paul though just not playing on it.
What a guitar! Wow! It's unbelievable that Harley Benton can beat Fenders and Gibsons!!
Nice review. I don't care for the German carve on the front of the body, too abrupt. How much is the actual weight? And how thick is the body at the edge? Thanks.
Imagine what Gibson could have done if they weren't stuck in the 50s.
I really like this. I don't like the cream surrounds for some reason? Easy fix.
Dani qua nn è questione di chitarre...Qua è questione che se ti danno un rastrello fai suonare bene anche quello😅😅😅. 🎸👽👽
You could always try playing some music on it 😊
I was so curios of your opinion :D
There you have it haha
Great looking guitar and nice tone. However please have in mind Harley Benton gives a mix of good and bad products. Therefore first go to a shop and try few of them. That the only downside of this mark. But I was told that this could happen to high end Gibson and Fender as well... Thanks for sharing! Keep rocking! Cheers!
I have the 500.00 buck top of line with emgs and floyd rose, flat black. How can it get any better?
Hi, what amplifier are you playing through?
Nice Cort
I heard that this guitar produce in Indonesia. Where can I get one around here?
You should try the Harley Benton Amarok! It has the same EMG pickups as the Harley Benton SC-Custom Plus EMG TBF, but it has a neck through design and it's just an amazing guitar 🎸
Awesome to hear, I’ll see if I can check that out then!😁
I've been arguing with myself about getting an Amarok baritone for a couple of years now. I've got two HBs (A custom sc gotoh that I think is out of production and the EX-76 GHWAN) and they are both fantastic. Are they as "good" as my Schecter E-1 Evil Twin? No. But at less than $400 each they are better than every other brand I tried in the price range in between (+/-$500-1000usd).
Anyway, those Amaroks keep calling and that black and red model makes me feel feelings. I just wish I could try the neck, the only thing holding me back really.
@@syntheticsleep I own the non-baritone six-string version of the red one and it's an amazing guitar for the money!
@@Machrife How's the neck thickness-wise? Is there something you could make a general comparison to? I don't need it to be super thin like my Schecter cuz I'm not a noodler, but my fingers are a little on the shorter side for chonky boys like the Gibson styles usually have. I start to struggle higher up on the necks of those things, including SC Custom I have.
@syntheticsleep It is definitely thicker than a Schecter neck, but it is not a thick as a Les Paul neck. I don't have the longest fingers either, but it's just fine for me. Sorry that I can't provide a better comparison, but I only have a schecter and an Epiphone Les Paul 59 to compare it to and it's definitely somewhere in-between those two.
You should have tried the 550, sc custom is more esp like
Just wanna add that this is the new Custom+ model which is made in China
I have the old model which is made in Indonesia and it’s just perfect the difference I see is that the old model have a cleaner front headstock which I prefer
I can tell you this guitar goes toe to toe with ESP models which are 2-3x more expensive than the HB
The sc550 is closer to the gibson LP shape :)
Comunque anche la versione coi pickup Tesla fà paura 😁😁😁
Mai provata ma immagino se la qualità è questa 😁
I enjoyed your honest review and I am not shocked by the comments from people who leave the most asinine comments and feel the need to leave some stupid comments.
I guess I am the only one who appreciated your honest review. You love Gibson and play Gibson, but you did a review for people who wanted your comment on this model. Thanks again. I even subscribed to your channel.
Thank you, I really appreciate it. 🙏🏻
Can't get the colour... trans brown burst stands in the description but I see more a honey burst?!
Seen good reviews for these guitars so I bought one for my Grandaughter , squeals like a pig , will have to change the pickups , but you can't argue with the price weighs 10 lb 2oz
Is that not the same thing as an esp?
That carve looks hilarious!
The SC-450 and SC-550 are better representations of the Les Paul.
I have one of each and they are good guitars. However, I personally much prefer the Epiphone Les Paul Standard 50s and 60s.
I also bout their latest Custombucker equipped 1959 Les Paul Standard....It may be the best Les Paul I've ever played.
Lower cost guitars like Harley Bentons, Leo Jaymz, Squier, Cort etc. have been playing lots of Catch up over the last two decades, meanwhile Fender and Gibson have been slacking after getting comfortable at the top of the Hill... While Fenders and Gibson's are still very nice guitars, they are often overpriced when you compare that you can get an equivalent guitar, for often 1/2 the price, if you don't mind having a name other than "Fender" or "Gibson" on it... While the Fender Player (and Player 2) series are good "bang for the buck" A higher end Squier or Harley Benton can punch at a similar level and still come in slightly cheaper.
I just bought a SQUIER CV Jaguar that is 100% faithful to the originals. Less than $400 new, and Fender themselves don't make a proper Jaguar any more.
Same with the Squier CV Mustang that I bought to remind me of the first "real guitar" I played in my band in the late 60's - early 70.
It's not all about the money, because I also own 6 GENUINE Gibson guitars. 3 Les Pauls, 2 SGs, and a Melody Maker LP Jr., patterned after the LP Jr. that Leslie West played.
As I have gotten older, I'm happy to play the inexpensive copies, too.
The best advice I can give is to play what YOU want to play.
The authentic Les Pauls don't have a volute, that's why their headstocks are prone to snapping off.
Also, it stays better in tune because if the headstock angle is different than on a Gibson, ESP does this also and this being an ESP Eclipse clone will definitely have the ESP angle d headstock.
2 little things that improve the guitar tremendously, but Gibson just plain refuses to do.
Also this EMG hate is some typical internet guitarist BS.
Big name players like Richie Faulkner, Reb Beach or Marco Sfogli are using them for years and get amazing tones.
The majority of guitar players are just to lazy/dumb to dial in an amp, that's all.
Very much a like the esp
you pay a lot of extra for that logo on the headstock - as far as resale value HB will never compete with the real thing but as far as performance and specs it competes all day long!
I'm going out on a limb here, but I think this guy likes Slash
Who?
@DaniloVicari
😆😆
Yes, I wanted to hear the "Sweet Child of Mine" riff and solos. I love that one!
Iˇve had a Harley Benton guitar twice, both were more expensiveles paul guitars, butt iˇll never buy another one because it was hard to even sell it, it sold for half price, iˇd rather buy a vintage v100. guitar because itˇs a bit more expensive, but itˇs worth it reap.
Firewood
Said the man who had his wallet emptied by Gibson to get something mediocre! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
those are good pickups actually....
Cosa hai usato per il sound distorto? Specialmente al minuto 5:45, è una delle più belle distorsioni che abbia mai sentito!
Il capture della mia Friedman BE50 Deluxe che ho fatto per il Quad Cortex 🤘🏻
Too bad they don't have a warehouse here in the US
Thats refreshing to hear
Late at night in an apartment building (neighbours already in bed) it's hard to watch this video for the guitar is very loud and the voice is very soft.
Haha certainly noticing a certain album being played in this video...
I watched a tonne of these videos before buying a Harley Benton. I bought one of their 'Les Paul' style guitars for £159 which seemed a steal. The first one arrived but it didn't survive the trip.
So, after much explaining to Thomann I wasn't going to travel God knows how many miles to take it where they wanted me to return it to they arranged to have it picked up.
The 2nd guitar had nowhere near as nice a finish, the nut like the 1st one, horribly cut. I have pictures and they're both the worst cut nuts I have ever seen. Not just too deep but kinda like Stevie Wonder took a hot knife to a piece of plastic. The frets were already lifting but after a few days frets were popping out. I'm not talking fret sprout, I mean the frets were falling out.
The Jack plate is wonky and the tuners felt horrible compared to the first one. I fixed everything myself but the neck just don't want to stay 'straightish' no matter what I do.
I will say it's quite possible I was just unlucky both times. The first guitar's bridge holes were also drilled too big for the posts which is why the bridge posts were almost out when I received it.
There were a significant number of problems with both guitars and neither arrived set up like all these reviewers keep talking about.
Make of that what you will. It's not impossible I got unlucky twice but just take into consideration you may get something like I did.
Just for the record I bought the SC-450Plus HB Vintage and I'm not saying all HB guitars are bad. I had a bad experience and it is what it is. I should also point out the 1st and second guitars were different construction. The 1st one's veneer was much thicker (and nicer) than the 2nd one so maybe they have different manufacturers. The nuts on both were atrocious. Nothing like the nuts in all the reviews. They literally looked like they were cut with a hot knife, that's not hyperbole.
On the positive side, I learned how to replace a nut, refret a neck, fret levelling, replacing tuners etc.
I really don't like that flat top. To me it is "we were doing a carved top but we got lazy and stopped."
Which model is this?
Harley Benton SC-Custom Plus EMG TBF at Thomann.
Great! But where is the Gibson artist?
Sorry but i cannot remember what the intro riff is.... Anyone ?
I like this hb ! But the headstock ...almost orrible, and why only 3 knob?. HB was just a step away from perfection! Grazie per l ottimo video
Look for the SC 550 , it has the typical 4 knobs
Yeah the headstock is not one of the best looking ones I agree with you on that (grazie mille!)
The way the light catches the carved cap on that one is interesting. I know they flatten on the top on those but I’ve never seen one so obvious. I suspect it is where you have your video lights making it reflect oddly and it probably doesn’t look like that in person. I have an SC III Active in white and I can’t get it to show like that. As others have said, it’s far more ESP Eclipse and I prefer the 3 knob layout and more modern body style personally. If you want a more traditional Les Paul copy then they do loads of those too.
@@SarahAndreaRoycesChannelyess...and for this reason I have one sc550 😉
If I listen to the sound without looking at the guitar's appearance and brand, I won't know what type of guitar it is.
Single cut. But looks like an ESP/LTD model/shape.
I'm fairly positive the pickups are passive, with a preamp attached. Doesn't really matter. Still a nice guitar. HB makes good stuff.
444 euro , ai miei tempi per una chitarra cosi ci volevano 1 MILONE E MEZZO DI LIRE
boy, it must be really hard to balance the level of dialogue and music so they are closer to each other since nobody seem able to do so. Always having to change volume during the video...
I can't believe fan bois spend over 7k on Les Paul custom shop guitars.
NO way. I really want a Les Paul Custom. but now the new Epiphone Inspired by Gibson LP Customs are basically the same for way less.
nor me, it's all about status symbols and nothing to do with making music
Branders..
6500 for the brand, < 500 is the guitar. Sad but true.
The headstock looks like a 70’s lotus headstock
ESP PAUL!!!!
Questa ce la vedo bene in mano al buon Luca Miliers 😅😅😅
👀
its ok but the top curve is hilarious
Yeah the carving of the body is way different
7:09 fired
Hahah we all know the g string on Gibson guitars is “delicate” hahah but I still love them 😬
@@DaniloVicari 😅
£375 from Thomann is a ridiculous price for this guitar.
HB seems to products more and more good guitars and still at a very affordable price as the years go passing by.
That is NOT the same thing regarding the lasts Gibson/Epiphone / Fender / Squier productions.. Unfortunately
I'm not a fan of the dish carve on that example. Seems blocky and not very smooth. Just a preference.
Why did you make this video…. Why wouldn’t you do the SC550? You might as well have played a cello
It's not a "Les Paul" it's an "ESP E-II"
con ese equipo normal que suene bien, ahora toca sin el equipo..., esa es de las más caras del modelo además, el resto algunas valen la mitad
$477 ok I need one
Well, buying a Gibson is not a bad idea if you can get it in good condition at a low price ..... You simply sell it for more money, because there are enough people who think it is a marvel and spend the money you are asking for.
There are certainly Gibson brand models that increase in value over time, WITHOUT being better than other brands. About a PRS. ... people don't realize that often the central body is more than one piece? And they gladly pay a lot of money for such a body. A bit of physics. Horizontally laminated bodies are more stable than parallel mono-block laminates. And if only the veneer above and below would be of exquisite woods, the prices would have to be adjusted.
I'm not saying that PRS is a bad brand. The guitars are good, but they are overpriced.
If a guitar for a price of 500 euro is really good, one for 1500 or 2500 can only be of worse quality if in comparison it gives exactly the same as the cheaper one.
