When taking on as many challenges as I do it seems I am developing mental survival techniques lol. Go the 80s and 90s music huh. Was only brave enough to put 5 seconds of that music video in to avoid copyright issues. Google said I might be able to do up to 8 seconds. I also just uploaded the next episode of fears around facing a cyclone at anchor. See you in that video.
I enjoyed your problem solving AND the fact that you gave yourself a "badge" (or a "tick" 😊) of self approval, which encourages you to tackle the next daunting challenge. Here in Chiang Mai we have an un-insulated roof, so to compensate a little, I've installed three enormous bamboo blinds to create some shade on the concrete wall facing the sun. We don't often get much wind, but when we do, they seem to be from either thunderstorms, or of the "katabatic" variety, blowing off the nearby Doi Suthep mountain. Of course the gusts blow the blinds around like crazy, so I have to monitor the winds just like sailors do, and quickly reef the blinds before a squall gets to do any damage. There are lots of other maintenence tasks to do around our house, and pets to nurse due to their age. So I can imagine what it's like trying to keep your maintenance schedule under control (because your floating home will only survive if you do) whilst at the same time getting sufficient fun and rest into the remaining time available.
Hi Dav Snow, Thanks for your very insightful comment. Great to have viewers like you enjoying the video. I do find the maintenance a major challenge so you are right I guess I have to prep talk myself. Sailing does have lots of analogies to other aspects of life like your blind example. I googled Doi Sutherp so I can see where you live. Looks like a very interesting area for us to visit one day. Love that you gave yourself a tick 👌 we all need to remember to give oursleves ticks. Also enjoyed the music video addition, made me laugh 😂
