Adm. Keel-Haul’s one of my fave Joes. Wish he was seen in the cartoons as he was in G. I. Joe #s 72, 73, 115, and Special Missions #28. He should’ve been voiced by Peter Cullen (Optimus Prime) in the Marvel cartoon.
Had they ever bothered to do a Proper live action G. I. Joe film back in the ‘80s, obviously Tom Skerritt, Cmdr. Mike “Viper” Metcalf from Top Gun, would’ve been the best pick to play him.
Wonder if Larry Hama modeled Adm. Keel-Haul after Capt. Henry Gloval of MacRoss?
Still, Keel-Haul was hardly used as effectively as he should have been- Hawk should’ve ordered the USS Flagg to provide total air support during the Cobra Island Civil War by mounting alpha strikes on both Fred VII’s and Destro’s freighter. Oddly, given his penchant for realism, Larry Hama never had the Flagg have a proper USN Cruiser/Destroyer escort group. These days a 3 ship Amphibious Ready Group with a Marine Expeditionary Unit would be the norm.

General Flagg was cooler than Adm Keel Haul but Flagg gets smoked by Cobra Commander early in the GI Joe comic line. Hawk went to BG ⭐. General "Iron Butt" Austin was the main CG of the Joes but few people know about that. SOF, SF was a part of Army Infantry until around 1983. That's when J-SOC, SOCCOM started. Special Operations became it's own occupational specialty.

When you're a kid and loved GI Joe with all of the cool uniforms. Then you join the military and want to ask them what the heck are they doing and to unfook themselves lol

A very good description and information about the Admiral of the Joes, Keel Haul and what I liked most about the video was the description of the name, really disappointing that was never used in any of the animated series because he was a very interesting character in the comics, thank you for sharing such a wonderful video Jesse.
For years and years I thought his name was “Admiral Lee” because that’s what my older brother told me. Lol. It wasn’t until I was grown and the internet before I realized his real name. I honestly don’t know where my brother got Admiral Lee lol.
Love this guys and love his name even more "Admiral Keel-Haul" how bad ass does this sound! 💪 and he was the last vintage G.I.Joe I got. Maaaaan, this brings back memories 💪🇺🇸👍

Interesting, Keel-Haul's also a pilot. I always wonder in the Marvel comic why Dogfight look like a cross between him and Wild Bill

I know it's not your fault, but the rank stars are wrong. Keel-Haul is an ADMIRAL (O-10), not vice or rear, so he should be 4 stars not 2. Larry Hama's fault not yours. + he looks like a member of the village people.
