I've watched a few of your videos and love them!!! Your videos give a lot of life to reviews where in others I've seen are boring. Thank you for the time you put into all this for the every day knife nut!
Man I've love your content for some years now. I appreciate your humility and relatability. Never make me think I'm a lesser person because I don't have a 300 - 600 hundred dollar knife in my collection yet. I got many of the knives I own from your recommendations. Thank you so much for your work. Thank you
I've got a Benchmade Bone Collector with a Micarta handle. I'm not sure of the model, but I do LOVE it. The look of milled Micarta is tuff to beat and the strength-grip-durability balance makes it one of the best scale/handle materials imo.
Jay, I bought a QSP Penguin in jean micarta and d2 steel for 30 bucks from knives plus... got it a week ago and have had a few offers to buy it. I love it. I've neglected everything else for the last week. Get one if you haven't.
Hey man, You have quickly become one of my favorite knife reviewers. I think you understand what most of us want, hi value, decent steel, reasonable price. How about a video on fully serrated folders? I cut a lot of cardboard and find that fully serrated works the best at ripping and cutting. What are your thoughts on the base Delica now selling at 85 dollars? Thanks
Thanks so much, nice of you to say. That's a great idea for a video! I understand why the Delica is so popular, but I think $85 is a bit much. Instead of buying one, I would probably put that money towards a Native 5, Chaparral, Sage 5, or even a Para 3. I would rather have something with a finger choil, but that's just my opinion.
The Mixer Pinch slipjoint is a favorite of mine, and I just picked up the Civivi Elementum in OD green micarta with the black stone wash blade. Ive been dancing around the Elementum for about a year until they came out with that one.
I have a crkt folding razel with micaela scales and absolutely love them, the knife blade not so much but these scales gave me a jumbo itching for more!
Enough of this mumbo JUMBO, I need to get a CJRB in my collection. P.S., I appreciate you keeping your vids moving along without extra nonsense like some RUclipsrs.
Yes! One of my absolute favorites on the list! The Asus! I know its got a jumbo pocket clip, but the way it attaches to pommel end makes it a winner for me. Same reason why I love my sere 2000. The only knives I have with micarta are all fixed blades from esee, and my Asus. Really need to up my folder micarta game!
@@TheKnifeBeater My sere is just the black one unfortunately. Bought it well after the closure of Al Mar Japanese produced knives and the price was just right on it. Definitely curious about the new SOG ultra xr, it has a deep carry money/pocket clip that looks quite interesting to say the least.
I love micarta, but only own the elementum version you showed. It feels different than what I am after in a micarta. The CJRB Feldspar, I missed out one. I made micarta scales from a Carhart tee shirt for a cheap knife and gave it to my son, he loves it. I plan to do more soon, but I am having both knees replaced this summer and 5 days after the first knee right now. Come fall, I will get it going again.
Nice list! And wow, that GAW! The feldspar!? If I'm one of the lucky ones I'm definitely hoping for the Jumbo, even if they're both stellar looking knives. Still didn't find one on this side, and I've been looking since your first review of it. Thanks for keeping that dream alive!
I love green Mikado to my favorite! You always do such a great job with these videos. I was wondering. One of my favorite knives, the fox core, has such an amazing action and it’s got a great blade except the finger child is too small. How hard would it be to open it up a little? What kind of attachment did you use on your Dremel?
No micarta scales in my collection, but that QSP Penguin is getting added to my cart. My wife is going to think I’m a JUMBO pain in the butt with yet another knife-but I’ll just say you really sold me on it. As usual, great and informative video Jay. And have a happy, healthy and safe 4th!
Thanks for the video Jay. Don't have any micarta yet, but hopefully one of these days! I bet the Feldspar would be good at cutting up some jumbo shrimp!
My favorite micarta knife is my esee 5. It's a real jumbo sized monster! Thanks for the great video Jay. That Ausus really caught my eye, for some reason I even like the giant clip and the blocky handle. I just thought it was a good looking design, and now I have to go spend some money on one!
I do not have a cjrb, but would love the jumbo sized knife, all my knives are jumbo heavy duty knives for work in warehouse and trucking , rat 1, cara cara Byrd 2, salt 1, cold steel max scout, bareknuckle , i enjoy your videos dude, you seem to have a jumbo heart , keep up good work , thanks bud
Hi Jay - Love your channel. Favorite knife channel for sure! You asked about favorite micarta scale knife. I would have to add my Gerber Paul 2PM ivory micarta knife. I have it somewhere in my collection. It was my first "fancy" knife. bought it around 1980. need to dig it up!
I don't have a lot of micarta yet, but my very first and still favorite modern/non-traditional folder was the SOG Kiku XR with its linen micarta scales. The CRKT Minimalist has great micarta handles on most of its blade varieties too.
Man when I started collecting knives my wallet went from "jumbo" to skinny ! Haha, never had micarta scale before definitely want to check some out. Great vids
I really enjoy my jumbo Feldspar. It is an awesome knife. I also have the Penguin and I’m finding it a great worker. Thanks Jay! Hope you have a great 4th!!
So glad you like the Selkirk. I have a small Selkirk and had such high hopes for it. There blade centering is so poor that the blade hits the liner when closing. Such a disappointment. By the way, I'll send it to you if you would like to review it.
Not a big fan of micarta but I wholeheartedly agree with you on the CJRB Feldspar. It's a great little knife. It will soon replace my Rat1 as my edc. Good action, great blade shape, good size . It's only flaw I'm my mind is the pocket clip . Hate them. They make any knife less comfortable to use . Their only use is to shred the top hem of your pocket and give you a hot spot under heavy use.
My pleasure Howard, it's the least I can do. I think you are making a great choice with the Elementum. Especially now, since Blade HQ has some models in stock, but they won't be there long.
Lucky enough to get the micarta feldspar and loving it. Also the tuya talisman in micarta. Got a qsp penguin on the way in denim micarta. When I first started collecting I ended up with a couple of enlans with micarta scales. I would love to have a jumbo collection of micarta scaled beauties but even at the budget level there are too many great knives and finite knife funds.
That's awesome you were able to snag the Micarta Feldspar, I still can't believe I got one. It seems like it's been a bit since I was this excited about a $50 knife.
And great vid Jay. StatGear Ausus often goes unknown. It was one of my first knives getting into the hobby. I, unfortunately, got the version 1. No milling, terrible grind, mine was like 35thou BTE, and the whole thing wound up having red loctite with weak hardware. My first time disassembling the pivot the actual pivot screw snapped in half. I reached out to StatGear and they immediately mailed me a new knife. Version 2 is something I definitely recommend! They said the first batch was rushed to get out before the Holidays and the makers they used...well they struggled to say the least. The knife and makers were re-evaluated for V2 it seems. I ended up giving mine to the Neeves and I know Jerad loves it. It was among the first fabric feeling micarta knives under $50 I believe! Definitely recommend them and StatGear often has flash sales that put them even lower in price.
I have a very good friend that’s very interested in the elementum so I’ve been giving it a close look and I do like what I see… I know they’re hard to get but maybe one of these days I’ll be able to get one… Great review as always keep them coming
I have to get some micarta knives. I had one, but returned it as it wouldn't lock up. But, have a bunch on my list, at least now I do. You keep showing all these great budget knives, I will need to buy the blade hq jumbo roll to store them in.
@@TheKnifeBeater After watching this video, I decided I really needed a micarta knife. I ordered the new Kizer Junges. I just want to thank you for your "lefty love" code for White Mountain Knives. I ended up paying $57 total, for a knife that (after tax and shipping) I would have paid 75 for any where else. That is almost 20 dollars towards another knife, lol. So, thanks again.
I just received the hazel micarta Hooligan for my birthday last week and I have to agree that the action is a little stiff, especially compared to my Elementum. However, sometimes the added wrist action just scratches my jumbo fidgety needs and the blade shape/performance is so sweet!
My EDC is the same micarta Elementum you showed here. But my favorite micarta is a Spyderco Calypso Jr. from the early 90's. Used as a money clip and got through every airport checkpoint back in the day. But that was then. Not sure you can a nail file on now. Oh, and by the way, JUMBO!!!
Great list as usual, Jay! I have a QSP Penguin from Drop coming at some point. I really want to get the micarta Feldspar but the jumbo sized one is out of stock at the moment and the small one hasn't dropped yet.
I recently got Joker NN125. It is a decent backlock. Maybe wouldn't be anything special with other handle, but micarta for around 20 dollars was a good deal.
I dont have any micarta knives unfornately. Maybe one day I will get one.....JUMBO. my favorite knife however is the CJRB Agave in Aluminum. I have quite a few knives but this one always comes back into rotation. I cannot explain it is just made perfectly for my hand it's like it was made just for me. It might not be made out of high end materials but I love it more than my others that cost way more.
My Penguin did drop shut out of box. After breaking in, it was fall shut. Elementums are also hit or miss when it comes to action. I got one that was grainy and one that was drop shut. I have the small Feldspar micarta on my BladeHQ wishlist. Thanks for the great content! 👍🏽🔪
Thank you Jcruzr. I agree about the Elementum's action, which is probably why I'm not head over heels for them. I hope you're able to get the mini micarta Feldspar because there are a ton of people waiting for that release. I guess I'll just have to stay awake the next couple days.
I love micarta planning on getting aftermarket micarta scales for my Spyderco Shaman, Para 3, and PM2. I would love to see Micarta for my Jumbo sized Cold Steel AD10. Oh and I have some Rough Ryder micarta knives that I really like.
I have a jumbo sized micarta hole in my collection for knives with micarta. The only one I've got is a pm2 with rc bladeworks scales. That one is pretty nice though. I'm super glad I modded that one.
I wear an xl glove so many of the mini knives become 3 finger grip. I think if a company is going to do a mini version they should be required to release a jumbo version as well imo. Good top 5 budget Micarta knived.
Was thinking about getting one of the micarta shamans from the guys in Golden. Well, if they'd ever stay in stock... Speaking of which, what are your thoughts on them releasing the Yo Jumbo?
Don't know if you got to snag one of the jade Elementums, but they look on another level. S35VN blade, with a bladestock of .10 instead of .12 and seems to have even more milling.
I got my first micarta knife the othe other day. Its the kizer sheepdog xl, and the micarta feels great in the hand, but pulling it out of my pocket is almost impossible because of the micarta gripping my pants. Is this comon with micarta? Will the grippieness go away with time?
Lots of good picks there Jay. I'm more of a jumbo guy than a mini guy, so the longer blades suit me more than the smaller ones like the Elementum. Still all good ones however, as I when I go downtown, they have a 3" limit, so I do still buy smaller blades from time to time.
I have the jumbo Feldspar in jade G10 and love it. I’ll get the micarta version should it ever get back in stock again! On a side note...where did you find the micarta Elementum for $50? Least I saw was $67. Thanks!
You bet Phil. I got mine from Amazon amzn.to/38eZYNw. I also see that Blade HQ has them in stock too www.bladehq.com/item--CIVIVI-Elementum-Liner-Lock-Knife--104242
Thanks for doing this! i've been wanting exactly this video forever. so i finally bought the cheapest micarta scale knife i could find on blade hq, which was the Browning Wihongi, but it won't even lock up lol. I wouldn't say that it was a jumbo error of mine, but I wanted to see what the cheapest micarta folding knife was like.
Micarta feldspar is sold out!? I have the mini g10 as my work edc ang was planning on getting the jumbo size soon. Micarta version would jave been perfect if it was lighter. Thank you for these videos J. Love your knife selections.
Yeah, the micarta jumbo is a little lighter than the g10 version. You might have a chance to get the mini in micarta. ArtisanCutlery posted a comment here: "Glad to hear that you're enjoying that micarta Feldspar! We should be getting the small ones to BladeHQ sometime soon."
Man that micarta Feldspar is gorgeous! You can keep your super steel carbon fiber fancy titanuum lock mumbo jumbo - give me a solid tool steel blade with Micarta scales any day of the week!
Long time collector (jumbo), but never had any micarta(jumbo). Looked at the kizer azo lieb the other day (jumbo) and like the compact size (jumbo). Blade is 2.39" N690 steel (jumbo) and price is $55 (jumbo). Oh and by the way jumbo, jumbo, jumbo, jumbo.
The only knife I currently have with micarta scales is an ESEE Laser Strike and I love it. I might have to chase one of the micarta mini Feldspars because I have a jumbo knife problem.
Another great video. I would love to have a Feldspar. Of course don't expect to win but if I get one it would probably be the JUMBO but would enjoy either. Thanks for sharing and stay well my friend.
@@TheKnifeBeater totally unrelated but I was wondering if you would give me a couple of suggestions on another knife for my son? He's starting to show interest in this hobby and I'm digging it. He's a big guy at 6'5", so it needs to be a larger knife. I got him a Harnds Warrior for work and he loves it. Just looking for something lighter due to the fact that he wears light weight shorts when he's not at work. Looking to keep it around $50 or so. Thanks buddy.
Hi Jay! For the first time I watched one of your videos today and immediately hit subscribe within the first 7 seconds after you said you get right to the point. I do appreciate not hearing about whether or not we think you should shave your beard or if your wife locked you out of the house or that sort of nonsense. I haven't looked through your videos but I'm hoping you may have done some on nomenclature for knives, the types of metal and the differences between them, the blade Styles and their names, and what different grinds mean. Although I have collected a lot of knives in my life and have a bunch of them I've only bought them because I like the way they look or their function and really don't know anything about the construction of them and nomenclature or why certain Styles or types of construction are better than others for certain tasks. Just a thought if you could do some sort of video about those things if you haven't already. I'm driving now so I'll look through your videos when I have a chance. G'Day, and keep on doing what you do! - Brian Oregon
Thank you Brian! Welcome to the channel, glad to have ya. I do try to get right into the content, especially since my channel is pretty small. I've uploaded around 400 videos, so I'll have to look back through my content to see if I made any about knife terminology. I do have some top 10 list videos about different blade shapes, locks, and deployment methods. I like the way you're thinking though, definitely food for thought.

Jay, Love the videos keep up the good work! I would love to see your JUMBO collection.
Thank you Gleb. I really need to do a collection video.
Nice list
Thank you Keifer!
Yeah, the Agave has caught my eye a few times.
I have a jumbo love for micarta! I have the buck 112 slim pro and elementum in micarta
Nice wordplay Justin.
I've got a Rough Ryder stockman with green micarta that's in my pocket everyday nomater what else I'm carrying.
I hear ya William, that green Micarta does look nice. Thank you
But is it a JUMBO stockman? :)
very nice I love rough ryder
I love micarta planning on getting aftermarket micarta scales for my Spyderco Shaman, Para 3, and PM2. I would love to see Micarta for my Jumbo sized Cold Steel AD10. Oh and I have some Rough Ryder micarta knives that I really like.
Yeah, I have a couple I would love to see in Micarta. Thanks Rusty.
Great stuff, Jay!
well i love jumbo shrimp and i could use the jumbo cjrb to cut them up
Lol! Very good Sean.
i have the same elementum, I recommend it as well.
Thanks RC.
I have a jumbo sized micarta hole in my collection for knives with micarta. The only one I've got is a pm2 with rc bladeworks scales. That one is pretty nice though. I'm super glad I modded that one.
Very nice! I'll bet that PM2 looks awesome in Micarta.
I wear an xl glove so many of the mini knives become 3 finger grip. I think if a company is going to do a mini version they should be required to release a jumbo version as well imo. Good top 5 budget Micarta knived.
Thanks so much Rick. You and those jumbo mitts.
Was thinking about getting one of the micarta shamans from the guys in Golden. Well, if they'd ever stay in stock... Speaking of which, what are your thoughts on them releasing the Yo Jumbo?
I agree, the Shaman does look nice with Micarta.
Don't know if you got to snag one of the jade Elementums, but they look on another level. S35VN blade, with a bladestock of .10 instead of .12 and seems to have even more milling.
No, not yet, but I sure hope to.
I love shrimp cumbo, an really love a jumbo knife
I got my first micarta knife the othe other day. Its the kizer sheepdog xl, and the micarta feels great in the hand, but pulling it out of my pocket is almost impossible because of the micarta gripping my pants. Is this comon with micarta? Will the grippieness go away with time?
The only micarta knife I own is an old no name slip joint, but I do have a couple custom micarta slingshots. Yea I know, I'm a jumbo nerd
No way! Those sound pretty cool. I had no idea Micarta slingshots existed.
@@TheKnifeBeater Heck yeah, you can spend as much on a hand made slingshot as you can a knife
I think the elementum in micarta is my favorite
I hear ya, it's a very nice knife.
Lots of good picks there Jay. I'm more of a jumbo guy than a mini guy, so the longer blades suit me more than the smaller ones like the Elementum. Still all good ones however, as I when I go downtown, they have a 3" limit, so I do still buy smaller blades from time to time.
Timbo437 that jumbo cjrb does look nice doesn’t it. I have heald the mini. The pocket clip is jumbo on the mini it can leave hot spots🖖
@@hapacha3898 Thanks for the heads up. I much prefer a blade over 3" anyway, but I do need to carry a 3" or under when I go into the city.
I hear ya Tim, that's a good platoon system. Btw, got the stickers today, thank you!!!
The small feldspar is one of my favorite EDC knives... But I have XXL hands, would love to get my jumbo mitts on the larger version and give it a try!
Lol. Nice one Rich.
I think the spyderco dragonfly is a sweet design. I wonder if spyderco will make a jumbo size dragonfly.
That would be awesome.
Great review, I really liked the boxy one (forget name), the one with the jumbo pocket clip. It looks great folded up, feels kinda mandalorian to me
Thanks Tyler. It's the StatGear Ausus.
I am super Jumbo stoked to see another great knifebeater video
Thanks Dustin, appreciate it.
hmm i have one micarta knife. twosun ts56. thinking of getting benchmade North Fork tho really like it
I have the North Fork with those Dymondwood scales, it's a nice knife. Plus Benchmade will sharpen it for you, when the time comes.
Hey Jay, can you show us your jumbo knive collection? Maybe you can do some recommendations as well.
You got it. Thank you Niama.
I'm sorry to hear your 1st micarta knife is a dud, that sucks. I know the micarta Elementum is currently in stock at blade hq as I type this.
Thank you for the no nonsense reviews. After every review I have the urge to run out and buy all the knives featured.
Lol. You are very welcome.
I have a QSP Denim and Benchmade Proper Green Micarta , what a Jumbo set of knives I have
👍
Micarta feldspar is sold out!? I have the mini g10 as my work edc ang was planning on getting the jumbo size soon. Micarta version would jave been perfect if it was lighter. Thank you for these videos J. Love your knife selections.
Yeah, the micarta jumbo is a little lighter than the g10 version. You might have a chance to get the mini in micarta. ArtisanCutlery posted a comment here:
"Glad to hear that you're enjoying that micarta Feldspar! We should be getting the small ones to BladeHQ sometime soon."
Fantastic video jay!!!
Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks Nate.
Great jumbo list, Jay! I don’t have any micarta except for my Rat 3. Would love that biggie
Thanks Ed. I do like OKC's Micarta.
Man that micarta Feldspar is gorgeous! You can keep your super steel carbon fiber fancy titanuum lock mumbo jumbo - give me a solid tool steel blade with Micarta scales any day of the week!
Lol. I know what you mean because sometimes I feel the same way.
Lol! Well done Stewart.
The only knife I currently have with micarta scales is an ESEE Laser Strike and I love it. I might have to chase one of the micarta mini Feldspars because I have a jumbo knife problem.
Lol! I have that same problem Adam.
The jumbo feldspar is way cooler! If I reply to enough of the comments I may win something for once in my JUMBO LIFE! LOL
I have a Spyderco, a few bikers, never have owned one with micarta scales. But I really miss my jumbo boker top lock.
Nope. Jumbo mistake here
Micarta is a nice handle material, you might like it.
Another great video. I would love to have a Feldspar. Of course don't expect to win but if I get one it would probably be the JUMBO but would enjoy either. Thanks for sharing and stay well my friend.
Good choice! Thank you Michael.

Another great vid. I like that micarta Feldspar! Do you prefer the mini or jumbo feldspar?
Jumbo is the one for me.
Love the videos just found your channel been watching a lot of them lately. And jumbo giveaways not many do that
Thank you Brett! Welcome to the channel, glad to have ya.
